Your RFA[edit]

Thank you very much for your vote on my RFA, I look forward to serving wikipedia. Again, thanks. →Journalist >>talk<< 23:29, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely, it was my pleasure to support your adminship. I don't know how you feel about voting for others while on the chopping block, but I have also nominated User:23skidoo this afternoon at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/23skidoo. Best regards, Hall Monitor 23:31, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well deserved! congrats. ≈ jossi ≈ 23:39, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hope it's ok to use this section. Just wanted to say thanks for the thanks - it takes a lot of dedication to thank everyone who supported you in your adminship. Anyway, great work on becoming an admin - your contributions show you do deserve it :-). I hope I come across you again one day on the vast ocean that is Wikipedia. Take care! SoLando 23:50, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well Who's result was 73/1/0 and yours was 73/1/1... which do you consider better? Who has a higher percent supporting, but also opposing. I guess we can say that your neutral vote was pointless, but I think so may have been Who's oppose... Hmm, let's call it a tie. Redwolf24 (talk) 00:07, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. When I looked at your note at essjay's page, you were 73. Redwolf24 (talk) 00:11, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I anticipate Acetic Acid's RFA. I predict he will make it the top 5 (or higher) :) →Journalist >>talk<< 00:18, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

He's a great guy, but not 100% sure about that, people like Erwin Walsh seem to hate him.
by the way, I think just for interest's sake I'll run an RfB on October 10th, my halfbirthday for wiki (april20th is my first edit). I know I won't pass but I wanna see how I do. And I'll try to combat this whole 'been here for a year' thing... Redwolf24 (talk) 00:21, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats on your promotion; when mine closed, it was 8th most supported too! -- Essjay · Talk 00:36, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sniff... and I only got 44 votes on mine. Congrats! You'll be a great admin. (I must admit I miss your old sig, though... ) Grutness...wha? 00:45, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome, I think you'll do well! --JoanneB 07:03, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Smilie.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Smilie.gif. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Please add a tag to let us know its copyright status. (If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged imaged will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Michael 08:50, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations[edit]

  • I convey my congratulations to your elevation to admin responsibility. I am sure that you shall be great! I do not imply that you were not already (lol).--Bhadani 13:35, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Journalist, thanks for supporting me on my RfA, and congrats on getting 70+ votes on yours! Robert 15:37, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Eighth best admin nom?[edit]

Just out of interest how do you know this? You know this isn't supposed to enlarge your ego, right? (not that anyone else is) ;) Dunc| 17:23, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, congratulations anyway, despite the meager level of support (insert rolling of eyes). -- BD2412 talk 20:52, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Congrats! An impressive and well-deserved showing on that RfA! Owen× 23:05, 1 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your userpage[edit]

Is there a category for inveterate userpage re-designers or possibly even a self-help group? I thought I was bad about changing my user page but wow! I had your page on my watchlist so I could see when you fixed it from the time when I vandalized it. At first I just forgot to take the watch off but then I just kept it on because you change it so often it has become a sport to see what you are up to. I may have to vandalize your page again just to give you a good excuse to fiddle with it :p Qaz (talk) 05:02, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You're a sysop![edit]

Hi, Journalist/Archive 5, Congratulations on Becoming a Sysop

Hey there. I'm pleased to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator! You've volunteered to do housekeeping duties that normal users sadly cannot participate in. Sysops can't do a lot of stuff: They can't delete pages just like that (except patent nonsense like "aojt9085yu8;3ou"), and they can't protect pages in an edit war they are involved in. But they can delete random junk, ban anonymous vandals, delete pages listed on Votes for deletion (provided there's a consensus) for more than one week, protect pages when asked to, and keep the few protected pages that exist on Wikipedia up to date.

Almost anything you can do can be undone, but please take a look at The Administrators' how-to guide and the Administrators' reading list before you get started (although you should have read that during your candidacy ;). Take a look before experimenting with your powers. Also, please add Administrators' noticeboard to your watchlist, as there are always discussions/requests for admins there. If you have any questions drop me a message at My talk page. Have fun!

And thanks for supporting my RFB which has enabled me to promote you. :) =Nichalp «Talk»= 05:28, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Popups tool[edit]

Congratulations on being made an admin! I thought you might like to know of a javascript tool that may help in your editing by giving easy access to many admin features. It's described at Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups. The quick version of the installation procedure for admins is to paste the following into User:Journalist/Archive 5/monobook.js:

// [[User:Lupin/popups.js]] - please include this line

document.write('<script type="text/javascript" src="'
             + '&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript&dontcountme=s"></script>');

popupShortcutKeys=true; // optional: enable keyboard shortcuts
popupAdminLinks=true; // optional: enable admin links

There are more options which you can fiddle with listed at Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation popups. Give it a try and let me know if you find any glitches or have suggestions for improvements! Lupin|talk|popups 14:58, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RFA[edit]

I still want to apply to become an admin.

I have been removing a bit of vandalism recently. It would be a lot easier if I could rollback faster and be able to ban people that after a warning continue to vandalise. Thanks for your opinion anyway. " Your RFA First off, its good that you want to become an administrator, but i think you should read the guidelines, and make sure that you qualify. I saw your total edit count, and it does not look like you would get much support. Some will say that you need more experience... Im telling you this so you can withdraw your nomination. You can get more experience and reapply in a month or two. →Journalist >>talk<< 17:36, 2 October 2005 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adam1213 (talkcontribs) "

Changing nomination process[edit]

Hi. For future adminship noms, we're changing the process - we have achieved a consensus that from now on, nominations will not be posted for discussion until after they have been accepted by the nominee and the questions have been answered. See Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship for the scoop. -- BD2412 talk 18:34, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA![edit]

My dear Journalist, I simply wanted to drop by now that my RfA is closed to give you a big THANK YOU! for your kind support. I hope that we continue to be in contact in the future, and you have in me a new friend.

While I'm at it, I also want to congratulate you for your own RfA and the record you've achieved. I'm more than sure that WP has gained an incredible admin in you. Best wishes in your new task, and hugs! Shauri Yes babe? 19:18, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats![edit]

Oh, it's never a problem voting for a good user. Glad your RfA succeeded. And I think your new sig is absolutely fantastic. Cheer, Bratschetalk | Esperanza 21:38, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship[edit]

Replying to this: Ive decided not tp carry out any admin functions until I have read and understood all the admin policies

Forgive me for being too lazy to type/paste the same thing again, but User talk:DESiegel had asked me for some tips and advice. I'd written a long reply, if you would like to read it, it's here: User talk:DESiegel#You're promoted. Regards, =Nichalp «Talk»= 07:09, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FYI[edit]

Journalist, I was just looking at Quale's RfA; you may want to take a look at this. Thanks! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 19:32, 3 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

BillyH's RfA[edit]

Why did you blank BillyH's four answers on his RfA? --WikiFanaticTalk Contribs 19:07, 3 October 2005 (CDT)

Sorry about that. There seems to be a mistake; maybe there was an edit conflict or something, but I would never intentionally jeprodise someones chances for a promotion. →Journalist >>talk<< 00:09, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the history, it appears that it was you who blanked the answers. If this was not on purpose, no worries, but nobody else edited while you were editing. :-| --WikiFanaticTalk Contribs 19:11, 3 October 2005 (CDT)
So it seems, but the thing is, it showed that I vote twice. What initially happened was that I voted, but sign saying "page error" came up, so i pressed backspace, then save. Maybe thats what happened. See, the edits are only one second apart, and even mistakenly shows me changing the tally in the oppose section from 2 to 1 [1] Anway, glad it was caught, no harm done. Again, I apologise. →Journalist >>talk<< 00:22, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Gyrofrog RfA[edit]

I just wanted to thank you for your vote of support in my request for adminship! -- Gyrofrog (talk) 05:16, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RFA for User:Quale[edit]

Sorry, I didn't mean to hang you out to dry, or waste the time of any admins considering my nomination. Some weeks ago I decided not to seek adminship so your kind offer to nominate me caught me off guard. I should have declined more quickly, but I wasn't sure at first whether I should reconsider. Thanks. Quale 05:35, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations for your recent elevation to admin. Your enthusiasm for your expanded responsibilities will help you do a better job than I would, I think. Quale 06:27, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

2 new ones[edit]

  1. A guy asks his friend "what's the first thing you'd do if you knew an atomic bomb would be dropped." His friend says "I'd grab the first thing that moved and screw it!" "What would you do?" The first guy says "I'd sit still for a half an hour"
  2. A man and his wife have been stranded on a deserted island for many years. One day an other man washes up on shore. The new man and the wife are very attracted to each other right away, but realise certain protocols must be observed. The husband however is oblivious to thier attraction and welcomes the new man saying "Now we have three people doing eight hours shifts in the watch tower instead of two doing twelve." The new man is only to happy to help and volunteers to do the first shift. He climbs up the tower and is soon standing watch. The husband and wife start placing rocks in a circle to start the fire for supper. The new man yells down from the tower "Hey no screwing!" They well back "We're not screwing!" A few minutes later the couple start putting drift wood into the rock circle. Again the new man yells out "Hey no screwing!" and they again yell back " WE ARE NOT SCREWING!" Finally his shift is over and he climbs down as the husband climbs up. The husband is not even half way up when the new man and the wife start screwing each others brains out. The husband looks down when he gets to the top of the tower and says " Son-of-a-gun, from up here it does look like they are screwing."

Thanks for your support[edit]

I'm sure my initial enthusiasm will wane, and most of my edits were minor (a lot of disambiguations), but it's still nice to be noticed. Martin.Budden 20:36, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you![edit]

Thank you, Rob and Journalist! My user page looks much, much better now. I suck making tables, as you may have noticed. I simply had to toss aside my Babel - the bloody thing didn't fit anywhere. I think your enhancements rock - my Page will remain "just like that" for as long as I can foresee... let's hope that means a lot of time! Hugs and nighty to you both, Shauri smile! 22:40, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the barnstar![edit]
