Diving watch bezel[edit]

Hi, - Bottom time (the time spent on the deepest point of the dive profile) is not the problem. The ascend to the surface might require decompression stops without getting health problems. The "15 minute bezel" has its origins in 1950s diving planning methods. In those days dives requiering decompression stops where done by planning things ahead of the dive and sticking to that diveplan when underwater. In the 1950s people did not make complex dives by todays standards. Lots of modern diving watches intended as tool watches tend to have "neutral bezels" that only point out the zero marker. The diving computer backup story and otther information was already mentioned in the article. I undid your edits until backuped with external references.--Francis Flinch (talk) 15:06, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
