Somali clan

Hi. The section deleted from Somali clan was moved to Transitional Federal Government. This is stated in the edit summary. I explained my reasons on Talk:Somali clan a while ago and have allowed time for objections to be made there. I'm not very new to Wikipedia and have been involved in editing this page since its inception. Please could you restore my edits? (Actually one has already been restored by another editor.) NHL/NBA scores

The reason I reversed the NBA and NHL scores to put the winner first wasn't just a matter of personal preference. It's been agreed that for North American sports scores, the winner should be placed first, regardless of where the match was played. This practice is standard in North American sports media. From the main sports events portal, if you click on "Edit this page" and then scroll down below the "Sports timeline" to the beginning of the daily descriptions, you'll see the following as a comment:

NOTE: When reporting North American sports results (i. e. Baseball, American football), please list the winning team first, regardless of where the game was played. Thanks.

Native Japanese names for China in Wikipedia article, "Names of China"

Why did you revert the edits that added information about the historical Japanese names of China, namely Kara (唐, 漢) and Morokoshi (唐, 唐土)? You deleted this inherently relevant information along with several additions to the sections that had already been established, such as the fact that the Manchu name for the Han Chinese, Nikan, was also conjugated as a verb, nikarambi, and used to mean "to speak Chinese." Dear John

Erm ... yes, that was me farting about with the Dear John page (not logged in) but then it was only 4 lines when I started... and there seemed to be a total lack of information on it which seemed a shame. However, I'll leave it now as it probably does need editing/cutting down by someone else. Find it difficult to separate opinion from fact sometimes and to write in the appropriately charmless and emotionally dead style appropriate to an encyclopedia.

Pictures are not redundant. That's like saying you can't provide a photo of someone withing the caption provide a link to the person's article. Some readers may not want to view the linked article if the photo in the current article provide the visualization needed by that reader. Jmlk, I removed the non-encyclopedic info entirely. Left you a message in the edit summary but wanted to expand it here. If you sign into pikes.org, you can verify he is still a member in good standing by doing a Member Search for Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz at Gamma Chapter (College of William & Mary). It's a shame we can't cite this source since one needs to sign into the site in order to use it. Properly, every single person on the list should require a citation for verifiability. Hey there, nice to hear from you. Well I've expanded my anti-vandalism work which is why vandalism on my user page has sky rocketed the past month. But oh well, it's a badge of honor I've guess. Since the fraternity and sorority articles are in good hands thanks to you and other editors of the project I'll be focusing more on other areas and trying to get back to the wiki projects I've joined which ironically doesn't include the fraternity wikiproject. Lately I've also been active in Commons trying to upload some of my personal wiki useful pictures. I notice that you've just joined the Military history WikiProject. That's a good one. Always a lot to do there. I also noticed that you're grooming to become an admin. Well, based on your edits I'm sure you'll be one eventually, it's just a matter of time. Waterfront

The Changes I made to Louisville Kentucky's waterfront park were not vandalism. Have you ever been to waterfront park and the great lawn? The park does have a noisy and ugly interstate viaduct crossing it. Are you even from Louisville? Stunoland 09:04, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

You have reverted my including a link to a Youtube clip under discussion, referring to WP:LINKS. I believe your reversal is in error, as per clause 2 of 'What should be linked'. This clip is clearly a piece of "media" under discussion in the context of the link. Even though the clip can be considered to meet the criteria of the 'personal web page' clause of 'Links normally to be avoided', the passage of the article discusses a notable grass-root phenomenon, and this can not be properly illustrated otherwise -- even as the analysis of notability of that clip is presented through newspaper sources. Phi Kappa Psi

What happened was I first sent in the MedCab request, which was answered, but SlamDiego rejected the persons opinion. During that whole sock puppet issue, i had also put in a request for formal mediation, but it was rejected because there had been no response by the MedCab at that time, and thus at the time did not warrant a decision by the MedCom. The request was denied and archived. I believe that the request has to be deleted before any new action on the same issue can be sent back to the MedCom. That is how I have understood it. Its just a standing period right now, which might be a good thing. I have really backed off the issue, but if a request is put in again i will participate if asked. speeedy grace period?

Isn't there supposed to be a grace period, before we apply {{db}} tags.

You applied a speedy tag to Rahmatullah Mansoor three minutes after it was created.

I know pruning obvious cruft from the wikipedia is important. But, my personal experience is that those who volunteer for this task don't always comply with the wikipedia's policies and procedures.

  • Some volunteers show bias when they apply tags, or complete the deletions.
  • Some closing admins don't honour {{hangon}} tags.
  • Some closing admins fail to read the article histories for themsleves, so they will finalize the deletion of articles that look like crap, only because they have been vandalized.

Can I ask why you didn't use the {{prod}} tag? What was the rush?

My apologies, but in my experience, quite more often than not, pages that deserve a db tag and do not at the time, are often passed over for some time. Tagging of Rahmatullah Mansoor

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Rahmatullah Mansoor. I do not think that Rahmatullah Mansoor fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because The newspaper articles cited are at least an asseertion of significance or imoprtance.. Planet Half-Life

I'm not sure who "76.19.57.22" is, but the "edits" he or she did to the Planet Half-Life page were not work, they were blatant slander against staff of the website and not fit for a wikipedia article. I appreciated your removal of the material, but I notice it has reappeared. Can you do me a favor (since I am one of the people NAMED in this article, which is completely inappropriate) and keep an eye on the article and warn the user if he/she vandalizes it again? Reverting vandalism

Thank you for reverting some of the vandalism done this day to "James Douglas (Governor)". When reverting vandalism, though, please take care not to miss part of the damage done, as you did in this case. Because vandals often work piece-meal, it is needful to look through a vandalised page's history so as to find the last "clean" editing. Missing part of the vandalism can result in "buried" vandalism, which can lingering in an article for a long time. In this case, two different vandals (or at least two different IPs) were at it, making matters less straightforward than usual, and thus calling for more than ordinary care. Please take this advice in the friendly spirit in which it is given, but please do heed it. Thank you.

Guitar Hero II

Hi, I'm confused about how my entry into the Guitar Hero II section about the downloadable content violated WP's neutrality policy. A search by Google for Guitar Hero's downloadable content revealed multiple instances of not only players voicing displeasure but gaming sites as well. I referenced three sources in the article as verification. Furthermore the price of 500 MS Points is accurate and factual and needn't have been deleted. Thirdly, the interview with Major Nelson was also factual, referenced, and explained the cost of the packs giving balance to the section. The criticism of the track pack pricing is a considerable issue which I thought was worthy of mention, and nowhere in the edit did I refer to any of my own opinions or feelings. In fact I consider the pricing to be reasonable and have argued against those saying they are too expensive.

Lastly, the line I omitted, "This, of course, remains to be seen" I felt was unncessary and detracted from the encyclopedic prose of the article, making it sound more like an author's review. If anything, this line ought to be considered as personal opinion.
