Hello, I'm DMacks. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Hello DMacks. It was not my intention for those citations to appear promotional, or to violate Wikipedia guidelines. I am currently a student at the University of Oregon and am aiding a professor as a work study position. The goal of the citations is to let users know that the information they seek is out there, in the form of those various publications. I understand you removing some articles from the larger pages as they are already full of citations, but for the lesser, undeveloped pages, they are in need of more information. Lynn R. Kahle[edit]

The article Lynn R. Kahle looks fine, but adding mentions of the person on other articles is not. For example, this edit added a factoid ("Social media also facilitates lifestyle marketing") using the article as a reference. Similar edits have been done in several other pages. That is not satisfactory for a number of reasons. On the technical side, Wikipedia is not a reliable source so an article cannot be used as a reference (apart from being obvious, that is somewhere at WP:RS). Further, a reference has to identify a small piece of a work—for example, using only the name of a book as a reference is not satisfactory because a page number is needed. More important than technical issues is the fact that edits must not appear to be promotional. As it stands, it looks like the recent additions are to promote the views and standing of a particular person. Activity like that often happens here, and it is always reverted.
