Vijay Kumar Singh[edit]

I have reinstated some content that you removed at Vijay Kumar Singh. I have no idea what your edit summary of wrong legal perspective corrected was intended to convey but the content was actually a direct quotation from The Hindu. I have now made that clear.

I also think that you were wrong to remove the cite request here. It may be evident and known to people of Indian origin, for example, it will not be so for practically every person in the UK, Australia or the USA. - Sitush (talk) 20:35, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But is it possible to get all inline citations and that too for too evident factors. [[Jeevanjoseph1974 (talk) 20:36, 11 February 2012 (UTC)]][reply]

If no source appears then the statement will be removed in due course. - Sitush (talk) 20:40, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have just realised that you have not received one of our standard "welcome" messages. I've added one to the top of this page. You are indeed welcome! - Sitush (talk) 20:47, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank u for that & regarding VK Singh, The "refused to intervene" is not a right usage in the legal sense. If so, What was Supreme Court doing in 2 days and that too 3 long hours of proceedings. I am afraid a good newspaper like Hindu really understood the legal terminology. ref: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Army-chief-V-K-Singh-loses-legal-battle-govt-hails-Supreme-Court-order/articleshow/11838737.cms and it is not a times of india vs The Hindu . for any one can understand VK Singh withdrew petition in the backdrop of Supreme Court earlier rejecting a PIL favouring VK Singh and later a not so favourable legal posturing. February 2012[edit]

Your recent editing history at Vijay Kumar Singh shows that you are in danger of breaking the three-revert rule, or that you may have already broken it. An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Breaking the three-revert rule often leads to a block.

If you wish to avoid being blocked, instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to discuss the changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. You may still be blocked for edit warring even if you do not exceed the technical limit of the three-revert rule if your behavior indicates that you intend to continue to revert repeatedly. Sitush (talk) 21:02, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

thank you for the information [[Jeevanjoseph1974 (talk) 21:04, 11 February 2012 (UTC)]][reply]

(edit conflict) "Posturing" is a bad choice of word and your argument that ToI is a more popular newspaper than The Hindu is not a valid one. Most of the gutter press are more popular than "serious" newspapers, for example, but we do not usually use them as sources. The Times of India is somewhere between these two extremes and is ok as a source but often not brilliant - its quality of writing, in particular, frequently leaves much to be desired and can be create ambiguity. - Sitush (talk) 21:07, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What makes The Hindu better than The Times of India and can wikipedia endorse such subjective matters. (Jeevanjoseph1974 (talk) 21:20, 11 February 2012 (UTC))[reply]

I didn't say that one was "better" than the other because, as you note, that is a pretty subjective thing. However, there have been numerous discussions over a prolonged period of time regarding the relative merits of TH and TOI as reliable sources. The outcome has tended to be that TH is written often in a less ambiguous/more accessible manner. I am off out soon but I have noticed that you have started a discussion on the article talk page and I will contribute to it in a few hours' time. I may get a Wikipedian who is a lawyer involved - they may be able to untangle the wording of that paragraph after reading the sources, and it is important that we get it right because the article is a biography of a living person. - Sitush (talk) 21:59, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rahul Easwar[edit]

Hi, although I speedy deleted the Rahul Easwar Article, it was only one day after the deletion debate at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rahul Easwar (2nd nomination) was closed. If you can address the issues mentioned there you can start a new sectuion at WP:DRV. Since the consensus was pretty clear I am not going to unilaterally override the delete. Nomination of Akhil Dev for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Akhil Dev is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Akhil Dev until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 18:00, 26 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Celebrity Cricket Club[edit]

The article Celebrity Cricket Club has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non professional club not playing in any recognized league. Only known for having notable actors playing in the team.Non notable IMO

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gbawden (talk) 09:42, 30 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Gowri Nandha requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Image source and copyright licensing problem with File:Pic shot at safari Tv with.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Pic shot at safari Tv with.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work contained within this image, you will need to specify

  1. the creator of the original work
  2. the copyright status of the original work, usually indicated by adding a licensing tag. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F4 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:14, 18 July 2017 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 22:14, 18 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Gowri Nandha at Vanitha Awards 2015.jpeg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Gowri Nandha at Vanitha Awards 2015.jpeg, which you've attributed to Gowri Nandha. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 12:18, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Rahuleashwar14.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Rahuleashwar14.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 12:51, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

File:Photo of Indrajith Sukumaran.jpg listed for discussion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Photo of Indrajith Sukumaran.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion. Please see the discussion to see why it has been listed (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry). Feel free to add your opinion on the matter below the nomination. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:12, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:13, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
