Fair use rationale for File:Spaceshiptwo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Spaceshiptwo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock (TALK) 23:41, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't upload images over existing valid freely licenced images as you did with File:Rees.jpg. Choose a new name for your new file. BTW, you did not provid a source or a licence for the image you did upload, so it would likely have been deleted anyway. You must complete the information required in the upload page. You may find it useful to read image copyright information page. Good luck. ww2censor (talk) 16:05, 22 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Ark1 solar.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ark1 solar.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:43, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lifeboat images[edit]

Dear James, I have seen that several of the images on Lifeboat foundation are taken from the lifeboat website (which is copyright protected, see right-lower corner saying c-2002-2010. I therefore have suppressed the use on wikipedia for now (besides, some seem to be not fully relevant). If you are indeed the owner of the website (in view of your knowledge on the subject, I can imagine you are somehow related to the organization) you can identify yourself through WP:OTRS after which you can cite that you are the owner of the images... L.tak (talk) 20:13, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lifeboat links[edit]

Dear James, I have noticed you placed several links to lifeboat foundation; mainly in see also sections. Please note that for a link to appear in a see also section (per WP:MOS), a clear relation with the subject should be present; in your case, generally lifeboat wrote about the subject, but the subjects you linked (survivalism etc) were no related organizations etc. I therefore removed most of them... Orphaned non-free image File:Atlantis project.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Atlantis project.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 01:23, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear James, the reason I removed the image (and many more) from Lifeboat Foundation is because they are directly copied from websites which are copyrighted (see my note above). I am not sure if I am right about this specific case (and as I pointed out: if YOU are the owner of the images, WP:OTRS might be able to help you substantiate that), but that's the reason I suppressed them for safety reasons. I will not remove them again and get into a revert war, but tag them as a possible copyvio, so people with more experience can handle it... Rgds! L.tak (talk) 19:41, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
oops, I only now saw the fair use rationale. Please forget the points above; as I did not realize this was the reason. However, I have problems with a fair use rationale of an image of 1 specific project of a previous program of the organizer of the organization which is on the wiki. Wouldn't you agree that is a bit too far away for fair use? L.tak (talk) 19:47, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This seems like a typical fair use situation. Background information on the founder of an organization is relevant to an encyclopedia article—e.g. American Red Cross
But also there it would not be allowed (as it should be at here entry) if i were a fair use image (which it is not, as it is on commons). Secondly, this is not even about an encyclopedic founder, but an image about 1 of his projects. On WP:fair use is a checklist for which all criteria have to be met. I think this guideline is not followed (point 1 and 8, the rest would be fixable) as the image is a sideline, and leaving it out is no problem at all

1. short guideline in there: "Could the subject be adequately conveyed by text without using the non-free content at all?" If the answer to either is yes, the non-free content probably does not meet this criterion.
8. Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Rgds! L.tak (talk) 22:50, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Emergency.condition.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused logo with no article used, it's also can't move to commons because of an unused logo will be deleted as of out of project scope.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. File source problem with File:Lunar outpost.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Lunar outpost.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Wikiacc () 22:14, 14 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
