Re:archiving at WP:SUSPSOCK[edit]

E, an archiving bot would be great. The page is not that active, either, so the bot wouldn't have to run that often--once a day might do it. There is already an archiving template in use, {{sspa}}--could the bot key off of that?

Thanks for taking an interest in this. --Akhilleus (talk) 14:57, 25 May 2007 (UTC) [reply]

I won't be able to do it again until late august. If you wnat "ownership" of it back you may have it, but i would be willing to take it back after that if you don't mind. The Placebo Effect 20:33, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Does this work? Delivered by ENewsBot (talk) 07:58, 30 May 2007 (UTC) [reply]

ENewsBot[edit]

I see you want to distribute newsletters also upon request. Though, I don't see the need for two different bots, you probably need to request approval to handle any request, as yours was only for WP:ICE (I don't know why newsletters are delivered by all different bots. I think one or two should deliver them all.) --R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 22:19, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I know you can make another request (My other bot is running on it's task 2). I'm saying I think you have to get another approval. Also, yes two bots are better than one, but we don't need a different bot for each project. Two bots could deliver them all. --R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 11:07, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
E, what I'm saying is that you can get approval so that as long as you do it the same way for each project, you don't need an approval for each one. See here. --R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 22:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you plan on doing what I've recommended, or are you going to get individual approval for each project? --R ParlateContribs@ (Let's Go Yankees!) 20:20, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving[edit]

Well, hi, I recently notice you, and some other editors for that matter, have some kinds of bots to do the job of archiving the talk pages. Since I'm rather ignorant of bots, could you show me how to get a bot archiving my talk for me? Thanks, and have a beautiful day, James. Peacent 18:59, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Per, this, please don't help users who have been blocked. Once they are blocked, they can't abuse templates. However, the template which should be used by the user is the {{unblock}} template, rather than {{helpme}}. Thanks! Miranda 12:55, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. And, I got the header from Andrew Hempe, per this. Thanks! Miranda 22:08, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it is my header as I made it myself and I do know of a few people who have copied it, but it's fine by me. E talk 22:11, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, you may want to put some sort of a CC licensing tag on your page. Miranda 22:34, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What tag would be the best? E talk 22:35, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I use CC-BY-SA. But here are a list of templates: Wikipedia:Userboxes/Large/Licencing. Miranda 22:42, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think that {{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-3.0}} would do? I've added it to my user page. E talk 22:55, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. Miranda 23:31, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Usurpation[edit]

Hi, could you explain what you meant by this post: [1]? It doesn't seem to me to make sense. Doppelganger accounts are still used (though I'm not convinced that this is what was being requested) as the software does not rule out all similar names. For example although Wjbscribe cannot be created as it is too similar to my username, it was possible to create WBJscribe until I created a doppelganger account. Also you should note that it is possible for bureaucrats to rename accounts to anything, inculding names that the Mediawiki software would consider too similar at account creation. The usurpation request in question is unusual but I don't see why it "should be declined or withdrawn" - that is a matter for a bureaucrat to decide once they review the request. WjBscribe 14:43, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I apologise, I must have misunderstood the request. I thought that the MediaWiki software does prevent all similar usernames? That was what this user is requesting I believe. E talk 02:02, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

archiving at WP:SSP[edit]

Hi E, I should have left you a note, but the bot isn't working properly--it's archiving the entire SSP page instead of just the specific cases. I semi-protected the page to prevent the bot (operating from the toolserver's IP) from editing the page, because it was just doing the same thing every few minutes. Your new bot[edit]

I had to modify the Abuse Reports page and simply include links to the individual abuse reports. This page was getting quite long and it was needed to simplify the page.
