Hello JStrikerToo. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, such as the edit you made to Highwood, Illinois, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:JStrikerToo. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=JStrikerToo|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. John from Idegon (talk) 04:45, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MY REPLY

Hi, John from Idegon, I am a partner at 210 Live in Highwood, IL. Celebrate Highwood is a separate entity, a 401c3, that benefits Highwood in general by creating all sorts of community events. I will not be paid/compensated for my additions regarding Celebrate Highwood. I just noticed that the information in the Highwood, IL article was incorrect and incomplete. Celebrate Highwood has become, in the last couple of years, a real driving force in Highwood community life. You can see how much they are doing by looking at the Facebook page. I think an article about Highwood is truly incomplete without a significant mention of Celebrate Highwood and all of the great work they do in the town. Besides that they have become an important part of the town, they are now separate from both the town and the Chamber of Commerce.

I would like an article about 210 Live to appear in Wikipedia. There's an abundance of interesting history about the building/site, and 210 Live has become a relevant part of the music scene in the greater Chicagoland metropolitan area. It has been cited in Downbeat Magazine as one of the great jazz venues in the world, and there are articles in the Chicago Tribune and more about 210 Live (formerly called "210 Restaurant"). I will need to learn more about new articles when there is a conflict of interest. I am trying to understand where to reply to John of Idegon. I don't know if this "New section" will alert him that I am writing about a topic. I went to his talk page and posted.
