AN/I Discussion[edit]

Hello, Iwillremembermypassthistime. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Concerns about Iwillremembermypassthistime. Thank you. - Bilby (talk) 08:54, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

I notisteced your changes at Pest County. I am going to undo them, because the county articles all fit a certain style and your changes diverge from that style. I am actually working on a better county template and will slot that in when I am convinved it handles all cases. So, very many thanks for your changes, but I think it is better to leave it as it was, for a few days.

You may have noticed I have edited very many Hungarian county articles.

Best wishes SimonTrew (talk) 09:38, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is also Template:Infobox Hungarian settlement which may suit you better. There are a number of them in the categories "Hungary geographical name conversion templates" and "Hungary infobox templates". SimonTrew (talk) 09:45, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

September 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Crete. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. El Greco(talk) 20:56, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Central Greece (periphery), without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. El Greco(talk) 20:56, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to blank out or delete portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to Attica, you will be blocked from editing. El Greco(talk) 20:58, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you delete or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia, as you did to Crete, you will be blocked from editing. El Greco(talk) 21:01, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stop replacing the existing templates in the articles on the peripheries of Greece with the template that you wanna use, without giving any reason for the edit wars that you have started. - Sthenel (talk) 23:23, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring[edit]

You and El Greco are both edit warring at the article Crete, and if it continues you will both be blocked. I'm not interested in hearing the 'history' between you or who's being bad and who's being good; the edit history makes it clear that both of you have reverted 3 times today with only minimal discussion and with no consensus either way. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 21:31, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

infoboxes Frankfurt and Greece[edit]

As reply to your remarks on my talk page: I think it's only civil to clean up errors introduced by your edits to a template. There were two possible outcomes of the Frankfurt TfD: either keep, the template stays in place and errors are visible, or delete/substitute with Infobox settlement, which would also leave the errors (that weren't there in the pre-29 September version of the template) visible.

If you're trying to gain support for a gradual replacement of infoboxes with Infobox settlement, this is not the way to do it. Of course you can be bold and change templates, but when your changes are reverted you may assume that your changes are controversial, and require discussion and argumentation. Markussep Talk 20:41, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WRT Frankfurt: the old infobox was not perfect, but at least it didn't produce errors like your version. You may call it a waste of time to fix errors, but it's not like Frankfurt has hundreds of districts. I will revert the template to the old version. We should have a proper discussion about what we're going to replace it with, I will announce the TfD at the related Wikiprojects. I suggest merging it with Infobox German location, and Infobox German location subdivision should be merged with that as well IMO.
WRT Greece: after you fixed some errors, both versions basically have the same functionality, just different looks. Your argument is uniformity with (some) other European first-level subdivisions, my argument is uniformity with other Greek subdivisions. I don't think one argument is much stronger than the other. You should consider that especially ElGreco has put a lot of effort in the infoboxes, and I can imagine he's not amused by the way things went. Markussep Talk 08:57, 3 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion and consensus[edit]

On Wikipedia, it doesn't matter how "right" you are - if everyone else disagrees your edits will be reverted sooner or later. That's why it's important to engage in discussion and to seek consensus rather than just trying to force through changes. You've been warned several times on this account alone about edit warring. Edit warring is disruptive and ultimately unproductive. If I see you reverting again without talk page discussion then I will block this account temporarily.   Will Beback  talk  21:13, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply. I suggest you seek consensus first before making edits that are likely to be controversial. With a less confrontational approach, I'm sure all parties can find an acceptable middle course. That's what consensus is all about.   Will Beback  talk  21:36, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Belgium Municipality[edit]

I'm getting a bit annoyed here: again you're changing an infobox template to Infobox settlement without any discussion, warning or sample infobox off mainspace. See Woluwe-Saint-Pierre for what's wrong with your present version. I'm reverting it: first get it right in a sandbox and show it, then we can discuss it. See Template talk:Infobox French commune#Switching backend and Template:Infobox French commune/testcases for suggestions how to get support for switching to Infobox settlement. Markussep Talk 07:51, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I realise you can't see what's wrong with your version now that I've changed it back. The errors I saw in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre were two blank fields: province (the Brussels Capital Region doesn't have provinces, so the provinces line shouldn't be shown), and mayor and city council (if their fields are empty, don't show the lines for government). The WikiProject Belgium is active, so you will get valuable response if you discuss it there or at at the infobox talk. BTW I'm not principally against switching to Infobox settlement (in this case it would be an improvement IMO, the infobox looked better before July 2008), but you should really be more careful changing heavily used templates.
