Your welcome[edit]

I could only wish everyone was really active in the proyect but, there seems to be that you just leave a message and it goes around unanswered for days. I guess if you want we could team up or something or if you have any questions let me know. Thanks for joining proyect Mexico. :) Alixb 14:06, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, we should invite people over and stuff, and yes right now I am living in Cancun. If he wrote the whole Duch Wiki on Mexico, then he could help us out with templates and infoboxes (infoboxes are missing for placing mexican municipios). Hope we can work together. :) Alixb 20:36, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

-Yeah that happened to me too I was living in El Paso (Texas) for a while and you tend to miss the warmness of Mexican people and just the whole different lifestyle. Ok let me kinda explain to you what infoboxes are and what they do. Basically an infobox is basically a box that sits usually on the right hand side of the page that gives standarized information across similar subjects. For example when you where going to start a new mexican city page you would use: Template:Infobox Settlement

which is basically a table containing information of the city in the article. (mayor, population, area code, map location, etc). It basically looks like this on a page:

Cuernavaca

Why we think we need to get working on that, is because there are tons of stub cities: ie: Guadalupe, Zacatecas or cities in Mexico that do not even exist as articles. At least with an infobox the article starts feeling a bit more complete: ie: Apozol anyway let me know what you think. Hope you understood my weird explanation. Alixb 04:13, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

-Ok either I'm blind or I dont know what happened cause until today I saw your reply (and I had been waiting for it) anyways, sorry for the delay. Well the Mexico wikiproyect seems kinda dead, there are maybe like 3 or 4 active people and even them are not that active so I don't know if we can get them to help. What kind of articles do you like to edit/create and if you want we will work on those. Alixb 20:05, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

-Well I talked to this guy from project infobox and he said that what has been used and should be used is the Template:Infobox Settlement it seems a bit confusing but, well if you want to see a few examples of municipalities that I have already done I'll leave you with some.

Municipality of Apulco Municipality of Apozol

I worked on the map for the Municipalities of Zacatecas, so thats how I got that and well let me know if you have questions or want to do a specific state first or how we work it out. Alixb 04:22, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Hugo! Nice to meet you! I didnt know the Mexico WikiProject was "down" but yes, lets get this party started! Richard's concern primarily is to make sure my students make contributions that won't get deleted -- I certainly dont want that to happen either! The biggest help you and alixb can be is to help them get oriented to Wikipedia (w/o doing for them of course) and to help them select topics. For the Fall 07 course, they will need to do several things here A) make themselves part of the Wikipedia community (register, userpage and most important, contact with other Wikipedians) B) a series of "small" contributions (a stub, a significant edit of an article, a translation of an article from English into Spanish Wikipedia) and their final project C) is a full-length article in English (which can be expanded from the stub they create).

Thelmadatter, yeah let us know how we can help we want to be able to help the Mexico WikiProject grow. So I'm really up to helping students :) Alixb 18:46, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok just let me know what you are working on so I do a different article, I am going to work on either today or tomorrow on the article Municipality of Atolinga. Thanks for your help. Alixb 01:23, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nochistlan de Mejia[edit]

I'm sorry. Putting one's signature on the mainspace is generally recognized as a test or as vandalism rather than an indication that someone's going to start an article there. The tags are removed now. Happy editing, -- Thesocialistesq/M.lesocialiste 01:48, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I saw the article that you worked on Municipality of Nochistlán de Mejía and it looked good, I hope you dont mind that I did a few corrections, thanks for your help again. Alixb 04:46, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good I'm just a little confused with the whole Guadalajara thing. But it looks good and thats awesome that your family is from Moyahua, if you want Ill do the map and add it when you are ready. I've been a little busy these past days but for sure ill get working on Municipality of Atolinga for sure tomorrow. If you need anything... well is it fair to give out my messenger on wiki? Reminder[edit]

Hola Mentors!

Im sending you this reminder because you volunteered to mentor my students in English Advanced B as they become contributing members of the Wikipedia community. We start working with Wikipedia in earnest next week. I ask you to take a look at your entry in the Mentor Table at Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Mentors

Please update the information, esp. with what your technical and informational expertise is or, if you have decided that you no longer want to participate, please remove your information from the table. Please watch the pages associated with the project. Students will contact you via your user page and as soon as my students have user pages, I will put them on the navigation bar associated with the project.

I don’t need to remind you that your job is NOT to write their assignments for them, of course. I certainly will tell my students that… and the fact that you are volunteers that don’t have to help them… so be nice. If any students misbehave (tho I don’t expect it) don’t hesistate to contact me and I will take care of it. The goal of this project is to integrate successfully into the Wikipedia community. Anyway… what I really need your help with is helping students get oriented to Wikipedia, make appropriate changes and write about appropriate topics (see Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus for assignments). I also need your technical expertise… I am only an English teacher after all! I appreciate what technology does for us but I am no technical expert!

Again, thank you for volunteering and you will hear from us again soon! Thelmadatter 19:03, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Thelmadatter[reply]

Partial list of stubs/short articles created or rewritten by Adv A students[edit]

I know there are a lot here but many are very short stubs. If there are a lot of grammar mistakes, just tag it with a clean up tag. I did not require that they wikify the articles due to time. Final versions for grading purposes are due Tue Feb 5 so any help you can give would be appreciated.

Municipalities vs Seats[edit]

Hello Hugo! I read you suggested the infobox for municipalities. We are trying to get a concensus on how we must organize some articles. Could you give us your opinion about a discussion we are having at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Mexico/Strategy .For me the Baja´s articles are an example of what we must do for all the states. There are 2 general ideas and the discussion is mainly between Thelmadatter and me, I think we require another point of view. Your comments will be much appreciated--Judith Soto | Talk 17:55, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
