Edit reversion

Hi there, was this your edit? If so, it was reverted because it was essentially classified as 'dubious unsourced content'. You must always user references to back up any claims you make. In this case, you may have been correct in the sense that Kareem Dib is McMahon's trainer, however without verification from Reliable Sources, some quotations or comments risk being deleted. --Superflewis (talk) 02:53, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Then you must be mistaken, It was not me who reverted your edits. --Superflewis (talk) 13:32, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for account has been compromised. If you believe this block is unjustified you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:01, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Request handled by: FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:24, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I should probably tell you that it's kind of obvious that you are the same user. For one thing, you should wait at least ten minutes before 'discovering' that the other, bad user, got you blocked, rather than responding immediately, if you want to create the illusion that you're two people. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:06, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

What illusion are you refering to and I didn't discover anything you told me I was blocked indefinetly which shows me something is wrong so I went to my contributions and saw my last contribution and clicke don it and then I saw what he had done, and i am not trying to be two people, he figured out my password because he sets beside me in my computer class.

You don't need to open a second unblock request; the first one is still waiting for review. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:15, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Ok, sorry but your about to block me for something I didn't do. I have contributed helpfully since i started except for my first two or three articles. HairyPerry (talk) 16:18, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I just reviewed your contribution history, and you're right- you have. Hang on a minute while I compare these two accounts... -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:20, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I apologize for assuming that you were a sockpuppet. The edit this account made looked a lot like the edits that we see from people using multiple accounts, but now that I've reviewed both of your contribution histories, I can see that you have an established history of useful edits at Wikipedia, while User:09jcsherrard is... less useful. As you've reset your password to something more secure, I'll unblock this account- give User:09jcsherrard a smack on the head on my behalf. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 16:23, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Thank you very much FisherQueen, it is much appreciated. Thank you and happy editing.

Steve Burns edit

Wikipedia is not the place for rumors. Only well documented facts can be printed here, especially with regard to living persons (and yes, he is living). To do otherwise could bring innumerable lawsuits against the Wikipedia organization. Please do not add just any rumor you hear/read willy-nilly. Such is irresponsible and unprofessional. Many thanks. --ScreaminEagle (talk) 01:51, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Good show. Now tell me where it says he committed suicide by hanging himself, which is the exact phrase you added to the article. --ScreaminEagle (talk) 12:50, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
You're not getting it. You can quote Steve Burns saying anything at all as long as it's pertinent. It's a fact that he said it so you can replicate it here. If he didn't say it and no reputable news source said it, then it's as good as a lie. Do you see? We're not here to replicate and pass along rumors, we're here to tell the truth. Burns himself said folks said he killed himself. The ONLY reason that statement is permitted in the article is because it came straight from the horse's mouth via a reputable news source. Anything else--like you hearing gossip from your Aunt Ethel--does not count as a reputable source. So again, where is your citation that says people say he hanged himself? --ScreaminEagle (talk) 13:28, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

On the top right of any Wikipedia page, you should see 5 "links" there (when you are logged in). You'll see 'HairyPerry', 'my talk', 'my preferences', 'my contributions' and 'log out'. Click 'my preferences'...look through the page that comes up, and insert {{subst:User:HairyPerry/signature}} in the box there. Click the 'Raw signature' checkbox (right underneath that box you just typed in); then scroll sown and click 'Save' at the bottom. You got it? =) Lol! Adoption

Hi there Perry! Sure, I'd be happy to adopt you. :-) Feel free to ask questions and we can talk about editing Wikipedia; I don't really think I'll have time to have a more in-depth adoption program in the near future, but I'm open to have something more casual. I'll go ahead and put the appropriate adoption templates on our userpages now. Happy to help anytime! Cheers, JamieS93 16:52, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

RE:Protection

This is the official page, but, in a nutshell, protection sets new criteria that users have to meet in order to edit a page. If a page is semi-protected, it is not editable by IPs and very new users; if a page is fully protected, only admins can edit it. Pages can be both edit- and move-protected (separately), and for different reasons (most commonly vandalism, but sometimes Wikimedia itself can protect things). Hope that helps! :) Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 13:06, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

I gave it semi-protection so that trusted users could still improve it. Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 17:17, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Steve Austin

We might actually be wrong, I'm not too sure - if you look at the article for Cyber Sunday 2008, the same bit about Austin is listed there and sourced, though it's sourced to the US Airways Center website. I'm unsure of my edit, though in defense of it plenty of venues promoting wrestling events have put plenty outdated information on their websites - for instance, I recall about 3-4 years ago a venue was promoting "WCW Monday Nitro" featuring "all your favourite WCW stars". Anyway, this is a lot of rambling just to say this: I could be wrong, but I think WWE confirming Austin's appearance is more reliable than the US Airways Center's website. Things I'm working on

Hey HairyPerry. I'm casually working on several things right now, including the biographies Brandon Heath, Jeremy Camp and Aaron Shust. Mainly with expansion and finding refs for them; feel free help with those, I guess even if you're not too familiar with music-related subjects. T:TDYK often has a big backlog of Did you know? nominations that haven't been reviewed, and so I try to work there pretty often, too. I've also been trying to get back into helping some of the tropical cyclone articles, with the help of some Wikipedian hurricane experts. ;-) You could join that WikiProject if you want a new kind of area to work in, it's a nice project. Ask questions if you've got them, cheers! JamieS93 21:32, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

The one where I explained that said they were the tag team champions "of the world" whether that actually held the titles or not. Speedboy Salesman (talk) 15:31, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
It has nothing to do with the gesture, I just tagged the line "whether they held the belts or not" at the end. I didn't write about the gesture at all. Speedboy Salesman (talk) 15:40, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

User talk warnings

Actually, people are allowed to remove warnings from their own talk pages. Doing so indicates that they have been read. Warnings are not the Mark of Cain. Thanks. ➨ ЯEDVERS a sweet and tender hooligan 15:33, 7 November 2008 (UTC)

A couple of notes:

  1. I've given the editor a final warning. Let me know if he continues to disrupt after this.
  2. Please don't say things like "you have no friends" to another editor, even if they're disrutive. There's a 100% chance that will not help anything.
  3. People are allowed to remove warnings from their talk pages. It means they've read them. So don't warn people not to do so, as it gets them all worked up for no reason.

The checkuser case

The formatting is a little messed up, and you've created two cases; "Request for..." and "Requests for..." Do you mind if I delete them and start over? It would be a little easier than trying to fix it. --barneca (talk) 16:03, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Relapse

The paragraph that remains is much better than the one I've deleted. It goes into deeper explanation than "These guys are producing it plus these guys are appearing on it." Just the fact that it uses 'plus' makes it inferior, but the content of the sentence is the purpose for why it doesn't belong. Also, DJ Premier and Dr. Dre have absolutely nothing to do with guest appearances on the album, it doesn't matter what their background in music is. Just because Dr. Dre has established a career in rapping, the point is no one has ever stated he is making a guest contribution to the record. These people are simply producing the album, until otherwise sourced. Production credits belong in the articles Infobox and a separate section. Kraid (talk) 18:46, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Congrats, I remember when I hit the 1,000 mark too, best day of my life. :) Just wait 'til you hit the 10,000. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:40, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

True, I've done my editing in different articles, thus, me having the 22,000. Anyways, I ran for adminship in March of this year, and it didn't pass. But, I may get some pointers on what I missed in my last Rfa., if I run for second adminship. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:50, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
One of the things was that I only worked on wrestling articles and some users, who opposed me, were afraid that I'd go out of my way in protecting wrestling-related articles, in which that would violate conflict-of-interest, something I knew back in March. So, I took their comments, seriously, and have been working in different areas here on Wikipedia. Also, there were some questions that I didn't answer right, since I was rushed to answer them, so I wouldn't get opposed. So yeah.... --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 15:59, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
If you see here, there's a comment that says "You might want to answer the questions, otherwise people will oppose", in which I barely accepted the nomination, and I was working on an article, which I had to work on later on and answer the questions, in which to me, I was a bit rushed to answer the questions. You can probably be an admin. as well, if you work on admin. related areas, such as participating in articles for deletion and all that sort. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 16:15, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
No, I mean participate in discussions to keep an article or delete them. If you read here, you'll know what I mean. Its a big deal that future admins. participate in this, because it is admins. that do delete articles. Well, I would suggest you participate in the articles for deletion discussions, also if you install Twinkle, that would be a great help to ya. Also, if you read here, I think that might help. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 16:46, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
Um, if you check like today's date, there's bound to be some articles that are up for deletion. Note: Just don't go and say "delete" without giving a proper reason. Oh, I thought I saw some of your edits that you used Twinkle. Well, you can start by there and ask them for help and see what you get out of it. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:18, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
Alright, well your getting there. Well, that's my bad, cause I sorta remember that one of your edits had "TW" the initials of Twinkle in one of your edits. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:33, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
Not really. You have to use it in order for it to show up in your edit contributions. --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:36, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
I probably have. Oh well, I guess I'm "losing it". :) Do you have rollback? --  ThinkBlue  (Hit BLUE) 17:39, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Capitalization

Actually, the 'hop' in 'hip hop' should not be capitalized in Infoboxes. First of all, look at the article it links to: Hip hop music. This should have given you the clue that capitalizing the word is incorrect. But because that doesn't, see the genre section of the documentation for album Infoboxes. Ack! I try to be careful about signing, but I do slip up sometimes. In this case, I used {{subst:uw-defamatory1}} for the first time and assumed it would add the signature. My dream is to play for the Arkansas Razorbacks, the Colgate Red Raiders, or the USF Bulls because I've lived in new york (born there) Florida, Arkansas. I've lived in Arkansas the longest and love it!!! Florida sucks, I lived there for a couple of months and hated it. SteelersFan94 19:17, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Relapse

Why don't you quit the name-dropping. Just because the community surrounding an article doesn't roll with your suggestion, that doesn't automatically make their rebuttals smartassed. Did I say something like "What an idiot, this guy has no idea how to maintain articles" or something? Of course not. All I said was that we should leave the release sections of the Infobox blank until a reasonable source for its release date becomes available. I've been around long enough to know that using "[Date 1]/[Date 2]" in the release date parameter just doesn't cut it. But that's okay because as of Eminem's status check on November 16, we can rule the album's release will be during Q1 2009. Kraid (talk) 14:47, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

What do you mean? Apawk never harassed me. And I haven't really said a whole lot to you. I told you that DJ Premier and Dr. Dre do not belong in the guest artists section of the article, and I responded on the Relapse talk page about how the release date should best be left out of the article if it's going to be a vague one (two years). My comments haven't been smartassed in nature. The other day the bottom line was, simply put, Premier and Dre are simply producing the album, until otherwise sourced, and production credits belong in the article's Infobox and a separate section. My response yesterday was simply that vague release dates do not really benefit encyclopedic articles aiming to inform. As for somebody saying "Or we could just leave it like it is," there is nothing smartassed behind the statement. I'm not going to type a paragraph of cross-examination explaining why the article Infobox should be left alone just to save the offense taken by one person, especially when the phrase is not an insulting one and the line of text conveys my explanation just fine. Kraid (talk) 15:54, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Okay well I guess I didn't see his comment before the talk page was reverted. Anyways, you don't know the first thing about me so don't start being so assertive of how I am a person smartassed in nature, and that I only care about myself. If you have misconstrued my replies so much that you need to get hostile (after all, I was only being honest about the direction of the article; dunno how that could be so decisive of the bottom line for my personality) then I don't really know what to say to you. I don't know if you're fairly new around here or something, because I've encountered some real dicks in my time. "Or we could just leave it like it is" is the least of hostility you need to be concerned with here (well, next to absolute politeness). Kraid (talk) 17:55, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry about it, I was just kind of insulted by that last one lol. Sorry if I came off as harsh to begin with, I was just trying to go by what I've observed of other album articles. A lot of them are poorly written and were created simply because of a statement made by the artist/band that they were working on new material, or they just follow a format that could definitely be improved. So I like to try to keep maintenance of stuff like that. No hard feelings? Kraid (talk) 19:40, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

It's all good now. And sure, I don't mind if you add me to the list. Kraid (talk) 21:09, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Re

Hey! I meant Template:Infobox Wrestling team. You see at the top of D-Generation X, there's a box containing the stuff like members, their heights, weights, debut, etc? This is called an infobox, and is produced by using Template:Infobox Wrestling team on wrestling teams/stables articles, and then you just fill in the info. What I meant by my edit summary was that "former members" is a parameter of the infobox (i.e. you have former members listed in the infobox) and your rational for removing it (that is was already below) wasn't really justified, as it's supposed to be in the infobox. I reverted my edit, however, once I realised it was already in the infobox... Hopes that makes it clearer. ;) ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 16:38, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry about. I know it seems strange, but in a normal stable's article you wouldn't really get that. It's just because there were so many incarnations of DX that it was necessary to have it there, so people wouldn't get confused. The way it is now, linking to the below section from the infobox is the best way to have it, I think. ♥NiciVampireHeart♥ 16:45, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

RE: Hi there

Hey there. Glad to hear that you're contributing to different areas like AfD; it's really a good way to learn and familiarize yourself with policy and deletion discussions. It's a good place to gain experience in, sure, but don't get your hopes up too fast about adminship. I know you're probably only thinking of an RfA as a possibility in the future, but just be aware that the RfA process can be odd. ;-) I personally haven't been around AfD lately, although I'd like to get back into it; after completing a full expansion of this article, at the moment I'm looking for something else to start ground-up with. :-)

By the way, have you ever nominated an article at Did You Know? If you want something new to do, DYK is an interesting way to build content (either with a new article, or fivefold-expanding an existing one) and feature a unique fact about your article in the form of a "hook" on the Main Page (on this template). I think I've told you this already, but I work a good deal at the suggestions page verifying DYK nominations. Cheers, JamieS93 16:44, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

AFD

Your AFD response was "If DGG is satisfied that the article should go, thats enough for me.[1]], don't you think you need a little bit of an explanation than that other than going along with somebody because of their experience or because you know them from around here, etc... HairyPerry 19:13, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.

Rollback Reviewed

After reviewing the request again and discussing with αἰτίας, we agreed that it is reasonable to grant rollback to your account. αἰτίας is concerned that you may not use the feature properly, so I urge you to peruse WP:RBK again just so you're clear on everything. Don't let me down! Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 19:36, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing my mess. Not sure how I did that. Aaron carass (talk) 16:38, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

You reverted the author's page blanking on this page. When someone else blanks a page, that's vandalism. When the author of the only substantial content blanks the page, that's tantamount to a deletion request. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:17, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Blanking my page

Hello. You recently blanked my page, claiming the content to be "inappropriate". Sorry, but how is a title of a song inappropriate? In addition, as noted in the section above, blanking other users' pages is usually frowned upon. Thanks — Do U(knome)? yes...or no 19:51, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

R.E. Glen Jacobs

Naa it won't be moved! Its been stated that on reliable sites that its Glen and the ones the guy who is trying to move it is provided non reliable ones! So he doesn't really have a case and if it is moved it will be moved back! If it does get extreme we'll get an adminstator or an experienced user to sort it out! Adster95 (talk) 20:06, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

And btw I don't think I've ever really talked to you before so Welcome to Wikipedia any questions or anything don't hesitate to ask me thanks Adster95 (talk) 20:07, 11 December 2008 (UTC)

Question

Hey Rodney, I'm currently creating a Boston Red Sox Wikipedia. It's not done yet, but it will be soon. I'm really thinking of taking a month or so off here and work on it, are you interested in helping me create it? You can be a WP:ADMIN, since I'll be one and a bureaucrat. Let me know. Signed

Hey, signed. Sorry it took me so long! Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 08:46, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

srry,

this chess tournament that you signed up for may not go through if we can't get enough people to sign up... :(

however, if you wish you may still play (just not in a tournament) you may talk to me about it and make the proper arrangment

Remember, this is only if we can't get enough people (so, if you can talk people into joining then maybe we can continue this!)
