Recent Wierdness:

Just a minute ago I was blocked forever from editing pages on Wikipedia by a guy named Stephen, apparently for making legal threats. I've never done that. Now just a couple of minutes later I can edit things just fine. Weird? You bet. I didn't even have time to e-mail him about what was going on. You run around Wikipedia enough you see all kinds of things. This much I will say though: I never mean any harm, I just try to add what I know to what's out there as objectively as possible. If I'm wrong about something, I'd politely ask that you change it. If I put something up that I'm not allowed to, then please remove it. But why block me? I don't know. I figure I do good where I can here--but mostly I just really believe in Wikipedia as a wonderful source of knowledge. If nothing else I just love to be able to add a link here, tidy up some organizational structuring there. I might mess up sometimes, but I really do mean good. Promise.

Your recent edits[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 10:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

D&D articles for Wikipedia 0.7[edit]

Hi there!  :)

As someone who's worked on D&D and/or RPG articles before, I'm inviting you to participate in our goal to both improve articles that have been selected to be placed in the next Wikipedia DVD release, as well as nominate more to be selected for this project. Please see the WikiProject D&D talk page for more details. :) BOZ (talk) 14:07, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for sharing your feelings - believe me when i say that i know where you're coming from first hand. There is definitely a concerted effort to get rid of things that some people don't like, under the seemingly beneficient guise of "non=notability". Some editors left Wikipedia entirely after Gavin's involvement, some just don't bother with D&D articles anymore, and it's been like pulling teeth trying to get others to support the project. Still, I try to press on regardless, because there will always be hata's and life goes on with or without them. See the bottom of my user page for some idea of the efforts I have been making!
As for what you can do specifically, well I'm not someone to tell anyone what to do, but I can offer suggestions. For one thing, I put the Gygax article up for good article review, so if you can help fix the concerns listed there that would be a step in the right direction. Five articles (Dungeons & Dragons, Gary Gygax, Wizards of the Coast, Dragonlance, and Drow) have been selected, so we need people to work on those. Aside from that, anything on this page (the higher up on the page the better) can be a contender for nomination if we work on it and improve it, or you can just nominate a (small!) number of articles that you feel are really exemplary and well done. What we'd need most is providing creator commentaries, finding useful quotes in interviews and product reviews, providing publication histories (see my user page), rewriting in-universe text to out-of-universe text, and general cleanup here and there. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of character races in Dungeons & Dragons is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of character races in Dungeons & Dragons until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:16, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
