Non-free rationale for File:Mcclure Horse jump.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Mcclure Horse jump.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 13:50, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:COLBlankenhorn.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:COLBlankenhorn.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 12:30, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Mcclurechina2.jpeg[edit]

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws, and the stricter requirements of Wikipedia's non-free content policies, because:
   # It is a historically significant photo of a famous individual.
   # It is of much lower resolution than the original. Copies made from it will be of very inferior quality.
   # The photo is only being used for informational purposes.
   # Its inclusion in the article adds significantly to the article because the photo and its historical significance are the object of discussion in the article.

Trying to address this, found the response left by the admin incredibly rude. Greyghost23 (talk) 23:38, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see you trying to address anything. You asked for undeletion and this response by Jay was not rude. At all. They asked you a question, and you didn't answer, but you posted a second request, and were told it was a duplicate, which was correct. No one has been rude to you. Now, you could have asked Liz to undelete it, or you could have answered Jay's question, but you didn't. Drmies (talk) 23:44, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I received no notification or related messages, stumbling upon it accidentally when no acknowledgement of the first request was received. Greyghost23 (talk) 23:46, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but you don't get a confirmation and a ping anytime someone responds to one of your questions. You posted on a board, the expectation is that you check in to see who's answering. You didn't notify me of your response either--that's fine, I was going to check anyway. Keep in mind that we're all volunteers. Drmies (talk) 01:23, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware of the fact that everyone is a volunteer. If I find a response rude no matter who it is, that is a matter of my personal perception, it is very different from saying someone is rude. The typical response by most adults is to respond with "That was not my intention" or, "That was likely not the intention." I don't particularly appreciate the candor of this either, and will no longer pursue the restoration of the entry on the first casualty of Ireland's independence war. Thank you for the response. Greyghost23 (talk) 01:56, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I ping editors to make them aware of a discussion new to them, for their information, or where their input is needed. Or while responding to an older discussion they would have lost track of. As Drmies says, you posted on a forum (which has a quick turnaround time for requests) and were expected to follow up (which you did, but to repost). I'm sorry you found my questions rude. At WP:RfU I either accept, reject or ask questions. Jay 💬 07:23, 8 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
