Your recent edits[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 03:58, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography[edit]

Hi, Gilliark - your sources look promising to me, although I hope you are able to diversify the types of sources you're consulting (I notice the majority of your sources are journal articles, and there's only one book). You need to review MLA style, however, because your citations have a number of formatting errors. For example, you need to abbreviate "university" and "press," i.e. Oxford UP or U of Michigan P. You need to italicize all titles (book and journal titles specifically). You need to check the rules about pagination -- should you write "224-225" or "224-25"? Also, you need to review the types of sources in MLA -- you shouldn't write "Journal" or "Book," you should write "Web" or "Print" -- it is about type, not genre. I assume you did not get all of these articles in print form, but rather downloaded them from a database, so your citations need to include info about the database(s), the date you accessed them, etc. You can get more information about this MLA rule here: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/08/ Tobie and Jessica have asked me to be sure you have a very strong grasp of MLA by the time you write your thesis, so please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to reading your writing plan in a couple of weeks. Amy E Hughes (talk) 14:33, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Spanish Golden Age theater costumes.jpg[edit]

Bibliography for Spring 201`5[edit]

Hi, Gilliark -- your sources look good and I'm looking forward to finding out how you plan to approach the creation of a Sentimental Comedy article! In terms of MLA style, remember that book, journal, newspaper, magazine, etc. titles need to be in italics -- it looks like you omitted that in this prelim bib. Otherwise, looks good. Happy researching! 15:54, 12 February 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amyehughes (talkcontribs) Thanks for uploading File:Spanish Golden Age theater costumes.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:03, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Substantial addition?[edit]

Hi, Gilliark - I see you've started your article in your Sandbox, but I think you need to officially "start" the page (i.e. transport it into the Wikipedia system) before I can give you credit for your First Substantial Addition. Do you have plans to do that? Thanks, Amy E Hughes (talk) 18:52, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Interested in talking about your student editing experience for a blog post?[edit]

Your article on Sentimental comedy was really comprehensive! Well done! I'm with the Wiki Education Foundation and was wondering if you'd like to talk to us for a blog post? I'm curious about your experience with Wikipedia assignments, especially because it looks like you've now been through two Wikipedia courses? If you'd like to be recognized for your good work and talk about your experiences, I'd love to have a chat or send along some questions (here or via e-mail). Drop me a message on my talk page, or send me an email: eryk@wikiedu.org. Chat soon! Eryk (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:49, 20 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
