A tag has been placed on Arab African International Bank, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. VQuakr (talk) 20:46, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Arab African International Bank[edit]

The Arab African International Bank article went through a major overall to address WP:Advert, WP:Encyclopedic style, and issues regarding WP:Detail. I'll see if I can find the guideline that say that text should not be added (or added back) that replaces articles that meet the guidelines with text that does not meet the guidelines.

The article was in such a WP:promotional state that I was surprised it wasn't tagged for deletion (that would have been my other option). Then, I saw on the talk page that the article had been deleted.

The article can be deleted without discussion because it's a repost of a deleted article... or, we could try and work through the version that meets guidelines and build content with cited, secondary source information that meets Wikipedia guidelines.--CaroleHenson (talk) 07:32, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding speedy deletion of reposting of a deleted article, see Template:Db-g4.--CaroleHenson (talk) 07:38, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon A tag has been placed on User talk:Fayed.yousry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. November 2013[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Arab African International Bank, a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion and appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. The proper way to contest a deletion is to post a message on the article's talk page. CaroleHenson (talk) 09:12, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Spam[edit]

You asked at User talk:A930913/BracketBotArchives/ 6#BracketBot – Fayed.yousry about the deletion of your article on the Arab African International Bank. You said you had secondary sources, but by far most of your content was based on the bank's own publications or not supported by the sources at all. Press releases, for example, are not considered reliable. Furthermore the article still continuously praised AAIB with vague but impressive-sounding phrases such as "contributing heavily to development activities" or "acquiring a significant share of the Egyptian market" - none of that came with a reliable source. Huon (talk) 19:57, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to take a look at this article: National Westminster Bank. It is well-cited, with sources including newspapers, industry organizations, etc. It is well-balanced, with some information about the company's products with news about the company. Readers seeking to learn more about products and services may go to the appropriate site, the bank's website for that information.--CaroleHenson (talk) 21:48, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If I can help you write an article that will meet guidelines, let me know.--CaroleHenson (talk) 21:53, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for undeletion[edit]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that a response has been made at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion regarding a submission you made. The thread is Hassan Abdalla. JohnCD (talk) 19:31, 30 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hassan Abdulla[edit]

I've been through and removed some of the text where it is either

  • uncited and not just an uncontroversial description of his post
  • cited to a source which may not be fully neutral and not just an uncontroversial description of his post (biographies on the websites of companies he works for are not independent, nor, obviously, is an interview with him)
  • peacockery like "renowned", "successful"

I'd guess he is notable enough, but I'll leave that to others to decide (I've never heard of the bank). I've added the page to my watchlist. You may be able to restore some of the content if you can find good third-party sources Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:59, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey jimfbleak - thanks a lot for the help with this. i'm working on the citations and references as we speak. will get things done proper. the bank is small but pretty well known in egypt and the region. if its ok by you, i'll add more text and you feel free to edit it as you see fit and tag the parts where i'll need citations and i'll do my best to get it all done. thanks again...cheers

I have emailed you the text of the deleted version. Sorry for the delay - I watched for a day or two to see if your email was set up, and then forgot about it. You asked whether you should get me to check a revised version, and the answer is, no, it should be the deleting admin, but I see you have already done that, so you are well ahead of my advice.
I have "indented" your message by putting a colon : at the beginning of each paragraph, and mine with two colons. That is the usual convention on talk pages, to make it clear where each contribution starts. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:40, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much. No worries on the delay, pretty sure you got a million other things to take care of. Ya, i'm learning how this works, slowly but surely. cheers.
