New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 04:36, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

Help

A few months ago, a friend of mine wrote an article about me. You deleted it. I don't care. The problem is that there was some pretty racey stuff in there, and Google "Cached" it. This means it recorded the article before it was deleted for everyone to see forever. My father found the article by googling my name. He wasn't very impressed. Anyway, would it be possible to maybe put up another "Decoy" article about myself JUST UNTIL it gets cached, and then immediately delete it?. I would be infinitely grateful.

I only got an account to ask for this, so if you're going to contact me, and I hope you do very soon, it would be best if you sent it to noughtanalien@Yahoo.com.

Please help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Forrizzledog (talkcontribs) 01:35, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Just to say hai

Have a great day ! -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 10:47, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Tinucherian, thanks for the smile. :) (And sorry for the delayed reply! :P) faithless (speak) 20:39, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello again. The Highly Active Users project has gone through a complete revamping per popular demand. We believe this new format will make it easier for new editors to find assistance. However, with the new format, I must again ask you to verify your information on this page. I attempted to translate the data from the old version to the new, but with the extensive changes, I may have made some errors. Thanks again. Useight (talk) 04:24, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Useight, looks good to me. I just have one concern - on the old page and the new, my status never shows me being online. I don't know anything about StatusBot; do you know what's causing this? Cheers, faithless (speak) 20:36, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
I'll take a look into it and see if I can figure it out. There is a delay between 5 and 15 minutes, so when you're actively editing, check on it every few minutes and see if it's working. Useight (talk) 22:34, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Re: Barnstar'd!

Hey Thanks! I still have some work to do on it, but the encouragement is certainly nice. Thanks again! Blackngold29 15:05, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

RfA thanks!

RfA: Many thanks
Many thanks for your participation in my recent request for adminship. I am impressed by the amount of thought that goes into people's contribution to the RfA process, and humbled that so many have chosen to trust me with this new responsibility. I step into this new role cautiously, but will do my very best to live up to your kind words and expectations, and to further the project of the encyclopedia. Again, thank you. --jbmurray (talkcontribs) 05:47, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Greetings

Would it be OK if I send you an email, faithless? Nothing very important: just one or two things I'd like to mention to you privately. Coppertwig (talk) 11:45, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Sure thing. faithless (speak) 21:02, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

Helpful administrators say what?

Hello. Cheers, Kodster (heLLo) (Me did that) 01:33, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello to you as well. faithless (speak) 02:05, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Compromised account

Recently on #wikipedia-en on IRC there was a report by a user that they took over someone else's account by stealing their password. It seems there are no active admins on IRC right now and StatusBot showed you to be recently active. I've messaged 4 admins including you and was wondering if if you would mind looking into User:rory096's claims. Thanks! §hep¡Talk to me! 03:32, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

The issue seems to have resolved itself before I got this message. faithless (speak) 05:38, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Twig quote, and redirects

I see that Your Adminship [1] has a twig quote on Your Adminship's user page. I hope Your Adminship doesn't mind that I'm taking the GFDL liberty of copying it onto my own userpage.

I also took the liberty of creating redirect pages from User:Faithless and User talk:Faithless to Your Adminship's pages, as has been done for User:Avi (Avraham). If Your Adminship doesn't want these redirect pages, please feel free to delete them, citing CSD G7 if Your Adminship wishes.

Humbly wishing Your Adminship happy wiki-editing, Twiggy (talk)

Note

  1. ^ As Your Adminship knows, I'm using the form of address "Your Adminship" as a play on words. After I posted the comment "Maybe I shouldn't have strongly opposed your adminship" I realized that it could be re-parsed as "Maybe I shouldn't have strongly opposed Your Adminship." This form of address is intended to be respectful and slightly apologetic given the context from which it arose, but it's also intended to be humourous and therefore not overly respectful for a relatively egalitarian wiki. It's not intended to be sarcastic or disrespectful, however.

... and I will stop doing it if Your Adminship asks me to stop. Twiggy (talk) 14:55, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

I will remember next time!

Thanks, I will remember to put the four tildes at the end of my warnings! And Thanks for the link to Twinkle.

Thanks for your support and help in my RfA, which went through 93/12/5. I'll be steadfast in this trust the en.Wikipedia community has given me. Cheers! Gwen Gale (talk) 01:11, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

United States

Please see the talk page where it is being discussed. Certain and absorbed is the problem. The source is the other problem.KGBarnett (talk) 07:52, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes, I apologize for the mix-up and have weighed in on the talk page. Cheers, faithless (speak) 07:55, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Jim Morrison

I thought perhaps you had not seen this posting on the talk page. This is entirely inappropriate. Since I realized you are an adminstrator, I thought perhaps I'd first broach this with you rather than the route I was about to take, which was a posting at WP:AN/I. I had prepared my posting if you'd like to see it at my sandbox. I'm just so tired of the whole thing. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Addendum: Just when I thought maybe I was being too thin skinned, I saved this to preview and had a message on my talk page from the same anonymous IP that I then discovered had reverted your removal of the book material on the Morrison article, using an edit summary that reflected the content Nyannrunning left on the Morrison talk page (the gay thing comes from a book, not a user-driven web site. Background on the Florida man is necessary. He doesn't have a Wikipedia article. Background supports 18-year-old Morrison's need for him). Frankly, this is the style of edit summaries Nyannrunning and the other two usernames have left consistently. I ran the traceroute on the anonymous IP to find that once again, the anonymous IPs come from the greater Los Angeles area, this time an Irvine adsl connection. So I checked the contributions page for the IP only to find, curiously, that on May 12, 2008, this same anonymous IP had made an edit to the Richard Calvin Cox page on the same day as Nyannrunning, 8 minutes before Nyannrunning made her third edit to the article that day... on an article that had no changes made on it since December 16, 2007, nor a single change to it since. So it now seems very clear to me that this is sockpuppetry, and the effort to direct me to respond on the Morrison page is bait. (Yes, I know how paranoid all this sounds, but is it paranoia when it's true? What should I be doing now in an effort to stop what has suddenly become harassment? Again, any assistance is appreciated. Wildhartlivie (talk) 10:31, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

I'll leave this, but I wanted to let you know about this. Thanks. Wildhartlivie (talk) 12:13, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
The post at the Jim Morrison talk page was completely inappropriate, there's no doubt about that. Unfortunately, dealing with sockpuppets is a bit beyond my area of expertise; I would have recommended taking it to WP:SSP, which, as you mentioned, has been done. You might consider going to WP:ANI if WP:SSP isn't helpful. If I can do anything to help you, don't hesitate to contact me - wish I could have been more helpful. faithless (speak) 19:38, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
One thing I wish someone would do, which hasn't happened yet, is an official warning posted to Nyannrunning's talk page about the personal attack. I'm not sure about it, but I am not in the least pleased with that attack being left on the Morrison talk page, but I won't touch it. I'm quite frustrated at this point by what feels like inertia in the machine. I've been approached again by the IP on my talk page that is a bit taunting but not inappropriate. I refuse to directly communicate with this person, on any of her usernames or the IP, and I hope that something will come of this after all these months. Thanks. Wildhartlivie (talk) 00:12, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I left the same "style of edit summaries" as Nyannrunning and two other usernames? And we all come from Los Angeles? The conclusion that we're the same person must come from somebody who watches too much TV or somebody trying to revive the McCarthyist witch hunt of Hollywood. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.234.176.245 (talk) 15:35, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
