THE WIKIPEDA IRC SPAM PROJECT IS RECRUITING NOW

WHY ME
Your recent request to use VandalProof software has been refused as you have too few edits to the English Wikipedia.
We need editors to look through recently edited pages and decide whether the links are spam or not.
If the link qualifies as spam, you will need to revert the page to remove the link and warn the 'spammer'.
This will increase your edit count and allow the VandalProof team to approve you in future !
In fact, the Wikipedia IRC Spam Project shares many VandalProof administrators and users.
HOW TO JOIN

  • 1. Install an IRC client.
(ChatZilla, IceChat and X-Chat are free. X-Chat works on all platforms) - a full list is available here.
  • 2. Visit irc://irc.freenode.net/wikipedia-spam
This channel lists, in real time, all external links added to Wikipedia.
Around 50% of the links listed are suspicious and need to be checked.
We flag especially suspicious links in RED.
  • 3. Begin Checking Links
Click on any diff (the Wikipedia URL) listed in the IRC channel to begin checking and reverting as necessary.
    If you revert, remember to place a spam warning {{subst:spam1}} → {{subst:spam4}}
We need to be able to block persistent spammers just as we do persistent vandals.
  • Remember - If you need help or admin intervention visit irc://irc.freenode.net/wikipedia-spam-t

POLICY Before you begin, please read WP:EL and WP:SPAM. These polices are the basis of spam fighting.

Best Wishes - The Wikipedia IRC Spam Project Team

I am requesting an IP address block for this user, he has been connected to Irish People with his/her EIGHT counts of vandalism on that article. Thanks Specter01010 04:11, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Where I can report an IP address that keeps on vadalising a page? I need to know where so in case in the future, I know what to do. Thank you.

You can report vandalism that is continuing at WP:AIV Somitho 01:14, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

The issue with User:TJ Elliot Scott, thank you for blocking him. He has been causing trouble since he vandalized some pages I saw on the "Recent changes" area and sent a warning tag, and later, he starts vandalizing all sorts of pages! Thank you for blocking him! But he/she is gonna return, so I appriciate you for settling the problem for right now. I didn't knew much what to do, since I'm kind of new here (some tings I have yet to nderstand like blocking vandalizing users). --esanchez, Camp Lazlo fan! 07:38, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

They will probobly return, but since there had been nothing since a proper final warning I did a short 48 hour block. If they come back and vandalise again, they will probobly be indef blocked as a vandalism only account. ViridaeTalk 07:41, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

PCD userbox

FYI. There is a new userbox for The Pussycat Dolls. Click on User:Miller17CU94/Userboxes to access the code. Please pass this around. Merry Christmas! Chris 14:50, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Sic is Latin for "thus" and is used after anything that is misspelled or incorrectly worded to make it clear that that's how it really is spelled. The proper spelling is "Happiness". I question whether sic is needed here, though. When you've got a film named Se7en, anything is possible. Wahkeenah 07:45, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Nominating an article for Deletion

I have a question. When nominating an article for deletion, what happens on the process. I put a tag for deletion on a page and that's it. Is there any further instructions for deletion? Since it was recently made and it's no big issue, what is done so it can be deleted?

Once you have followed the instructions to nominate a page for deletion, you need not do anything else. The adminstrators on Wikipedia will decide what to do with the page as long as there is no objection to the article being deleted. --Willy No1lakersfan (Talk - Contribs) 04:16, 26 December 2006 (UTC)

Melida Arredondo deletion

Did you know that you created an AFD subpage for Melida Arredondo which isn't linked to from anywhere? You put the WP:PROD template on the article, which is a non-discussion process. I'm not sure which one you were actually wanting, or I'd fix it for you. NickelShoe (Talk) 16:52, 31 December 2006 (UTC)

Erik Pohl

Hi, just as a note, redirects to User: space should be tagged with {{db-r2}}, not {{db-nonsense}} ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 02:02, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

No worries, I moved the page just before you tagged it for speedy, no way you could have known ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 02:05, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

weird

ok I changed my own user page and it was reverted by you? Roadhockey 04:44, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

It's no problem I thought it was something like that. Just weird! Roadhockey 04:49, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

the notice says i can remove the notice if the article doesn't meet speedy

If this page does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, or you intend to fix it, please remove this notice, but do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Facto De (talkcontribs) 04:32, 20 January 2007 (UTC).

The article in question completely meets the requirements for speedy, but since you've taken it upon yourself to remove the tag twice, I have nominated the article for deletion. janejellyroll 04:33, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Deletion

Hi, so sorry, just trying to clear up a few things. Are you allowed to create an article with your exact name then redirect it to your user page? Sorry I cant find anything about it (yes or no) anywhere. I am probably looking in the wrong places. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SherwinA (talkcontribs) 06:59, 20 January 2007 (UTC). Oh Thanks I just wanted to find that out. SherwinA 07:03, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

NPWatcher approval

You've been approved to use NPWatcher. Please give me any feature requests or bugs. I'm also happy to help if you have any problems running the program, or any questions :). Before you run the program, please check the changelog on the application page to see if I've made a new release (or just add the main page (here) to your watchlist). Finally, enjoy! Martinp23 11:05, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

In this page, User:Azer Red/ED discussion page, there have been many vandals from various people and I think there should be done something. Seriously, it talks about an issue and it has been vandalized many times. What can be done? After reading WP:NOT, should the page be deleted?

Thanks for bringing it up. The issue has been pointed out on the admin noticeboards, and it will be looked into. Teke (talk) 05:13, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert

I guess the anonymous vandal (using multiple addresses) I reverted before has decided I needed his/her attention. Thanks for catching his edit to my user page! -- Flyguy649 04:47, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Just curious. If a Wkipedia page gets vandalized (like this one [1]), what actions can be done? What warning tag should be inputed in the vandilizer's talk page?

This might help you. Xiner (talk, email) 21:37, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, Kudos

for placing the notice on editor's talk pages when adding speedy tags - and for adding speedy tags with good and coherent reasons. Back to Csd, only 300 more to go... KillerChihuahua?!? 01:25, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

I have removed the speedy deletion on this article because a Superstock is a class of racecar raced in New Zealand and the article is not advertising a product. See Dirt track racing in New Zealand for where these are raced. I do agree it needs work to bring it up to standard, but It has only just been created. Leaderofearth 03:56, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

There is a discussion about removing the clean-up tag on this article. I also point out some concerns I have with the article, which include daughter articles, etc. It would be great if someone would respond to that. Squirepants101 21:14, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Other Squirrel Scouts

Why remove main articles to the other Squirrel Scouts? It's quite surprising to see those things disappear. I'm starting to miss them.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 61.9.126.41 (talk) 00:02, 27 March 2007 (UTC).

And do I give a damn? Actually, no. I just don't think the characters don't deserve an article of their own. --esanchez, Camp Lazlo fan! 03:17, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

Re: Columbine

Because there was no need to have 8 links to those videos, the first video links to the other 7 parts.

RE: Editing the California page

Hi, I edited the CA page for a number of reasons. i think you meant specifically removing domestic partnet blurb. That box was out of place on a page talking about the state as a whole. Should we highlight one potion of the driving code? Or add a webring for a law about freeway construction? It just seemed too focused. Also, it was onesided. I do not promote intolerance and don't want to go into the broader issues CA has had with domestic partnership, but that one blurn most definitely did not represent all the legal happenings with that issue and surrounding issues.

Honestly, I just thought it was vandalism, since you didn't provide a reason to the deletion. If it was for fixing the info on the article, please do so. Sorry to conflict it. --esanchez, Camp Lazlo fan! 03:33, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Editing Computer Wallpaper

My apologies about the computer wallpaper page. I saw the link to "WireChanger" in the following paragraph and got the impression that it was appropriate.

Also, why was it necessary to remove the links in Python Software and OGRE 3D? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dvanvliet (talkcontribs) 02:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC).

Longest word revert

Hi Esanchez -- I'm not sure why you reverted the IP's disambiguation of the long Bangkok link on "Longest word in the English language." I thought that if there was a link to a redirect it was fine to fix and make the link go directly to the page being redirected to. Just would like some clarification. Thanks. -- Myke Cuthbert (talk) 00:58, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I'd appreciate it if you'd use the edit summary to explain reverts to established editors who have given reasons for removing photos, in stead of simply "revert." The image I replaced is from the Commons and is not a free license. It will be deleted. You can see the discussion here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Template:Sxc-warning. --David Shankbone 11:58, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

  • I'm tried of reverting you. The child will eventually be a red link since it's going to be deleted. It simply is not free media. Sorry you aren't more conducive to dialog about a doomed image. --David Shankbone 15:59, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

I do not appreciate you vandalizing the cockapoo page. I edited it with my own work, a self taken cockapoo picture. I always thought that user edits were the purpose of Wikipedia. Maybe you should remove the picture that is on there now because that is also a user submitted picture. - Czack69
