New sockpuppets

Hi Ericorbit. I've just come across two suspect users, 190fordhouse (talk · contribs) and Statmo1921 (talk · contribs); they edit similarly in several pages, usually one right after the other, such as in [1] and [2], among others, but the latter has been move active lately. Bananarama Discography

Sorry to bother you with this again but someone is now posting the (incorrect) second single on the discography page . I have deleted it for now but I'm sure they will be back FascinatingBlondeOne (talk) 23:52, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

I've semi-protected the discography page so that should help some. Hopefully an official announcement will be made within the next week or two. - eo (talk) 13:05, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Nice one :) Thank you and yes hopefully ;) 79.77.43.156 (talk) 19:20, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

heya, a while ago you made comments about the above article. just thought i'd let you know its now been nominated at afd if you'd like to give your opinion :) Mister sparky (talk) 01:35, 15 December 2009 (UTC)

2010

why did you delete everything I added???? What was wrong with adding a page for the number one songs of 2010 ????????? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Okokok238 (talkcontribs) 04:12, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Because there is no content. And as you can see, someone else deleted it after you recreated it. Until there is a 2010 number-one song, there is no use for the article. - eo (talk) 12:24, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

I'm also having an issue with this user. On the List of number-one digital songs of 2009 (U.S.), he has simply copied or used the same references from the Hot 100 lists even though the source does not always state the #1 digital song. I started to go through them one by one, leaving the ones that do reference the #1 digital. I informed him of what he did, and not only did he revert my changes (as the suspected IP sockpuppet), he also removed my comments from his talk page. Thanks. --Wolfer68 (talk) 16:58, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Academy Awards

I would have thought the link between the awards and the Billboard charts was notable trivia. Why remove it? !! Justa Punk !! 00:09, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Howdy. I just dont think it fits the scope of that particular article. What wins the Academy Award has no effect on what may hit #1 and vice versa. Plus someone could argue that any other awards (such as, say the Golden Globes) could also be added. To me that kinda tidbit is more appropriate for the individual song articles, rather than one pertaining to a particular chart in Billboard. - eo (talk) 14:58, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

Cover versions.

Don't you think that Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Songs/coverversions has now run its course and we have a concensus? Can't we wrap this up? Is it worth getting an admin in with axes to grind to close it? --Richhoncho (talk) 08:31, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

Yeah it's been going on for a while. Looking at it it seems to me that the consensus is to keep things merged... maybe it would be best to bring in another admin just to take a quick look and assist in wrapping things up. I feel strongly about keeping things merged and I've stated this on the discussion page, so I don't think I should be the one to make the final call. - eo (talk) 12:57, 4 January 2010 (UTC)
My feelings exactly. We are in total agreement. As I am not sure exactly how to call in an admin (I can't whistle LOL), can I let you do the honors? It should also be noted that several on my list have been merged since I posted and there may be a larger concensus than those directly involved in the music related aricles. --Richhoncho (talk) 15:41, 4 January 2010 (UTC)

MJ Albums Discography

At the moment the page isn't done with the Wikipedia standard because Cubfan789 suggested a new style for the tables. I saw to him that before to modifie is better to discute on MJ Albums Talk Page because the new style for the tables is not done with the Wikipedia standard, but nothing. Also if we begin a discussion, he modifie with his style and often ignore my messages. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Michael_Jackson_album_discography#Page_Style

According to me it's better to block that Wikipedia page with the Wikipedia Standard, so Cubfan would discute.

SJ (talk) 20:50, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Now i looked in his history page and is not the first time that this user don't respect the Wikipedia standard for Discography. According to his page also you know him. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Cubfan789&limit=500&action=history SJ (talk) 00:59, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Block

Hello, can you do me a favour and either speak to or block user "Ryan3896490" all the edits I make to Cheryl Cole songs and Alexandra Burke songs he reverts and will not answer when I leave a comment asking why. User "Mister Sparky" has also tried speaking to him but he will not reply. Any help you could give would be appreciated. Jayy008 (talk) 23:00, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi, thanks, I'll keep an eye on this person. Looks as if he has a long history of disruption and that he tries to hide things by deleting warnings (and even a block message) from his Talk Page. I see two warnings from January 12.... please do yourself (and me, or any other admin) a favor and use these templates: Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace/Multi-level templates where necessary for any type of vandalism (not just on this guy, but for anyone, really). It assists when reporting someone as a vandal if they are being disruptive, once the appropriate number of warnings have been issued, a block can be given, if necessary and shows that others have made the attempt to warn the user and stop the disruption. - eo (talk) 23:32, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for the advice I will star incorporating them into my comments an thank you for your help. I will go back and re-do the changes to the pages and use one of those templates if he reverts.

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Ericorbit! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 17 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. text size

heya, just wanted to ask: in tables in discographies, should the text size for the certifications be normal or small? because some editors say one way and some another, the same with flc reviewers. is there actually any concrete guidelines? its really confusing! thanks :) Mister sparky (talk) 16:20, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

As far as I know there was a consensus in WP:DISCOG talk page that text should be normal size. I haven't checked it in a while but I don't think this has changed. Probably will have to search a bit to find the discussion. I've been removing small text. - eo (talk) 16:33, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Mariah Carey discography

Hey I was wandering if you could help me again. I was told if I wanted a page to be moved I should put in a request on some board but I looked and it's very "full" so I thought if I asked you it would be done quicker. I have made a separate page for Mariah Carey's singles I was wandering if you could change "Mariah Carey discography" to "Mariah Carey albums discography" thanks. Jamie. Jayy008 (talk) 17:37, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

I was the one that pointed him at WP:RM. I don't object to the move, it's just that there's a little bit of history in the way preventing a standard move from working.—Kww(talk) 17:45, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

I've done it now thank you everyone! Jayy008 (talk) 18:08, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

reliable UK chart sources

heya, me again lol. was wondering if you had any examples of how a uk chart source like chartstats.com or everyhit.com could prove their reliability? i'm working on flc discussions for the black eyed peas and the pussycat dolls, and once again a certain reviewer refuses to accept validity of any uk chart source. any ideas or help would be great :) Mister sparky (talk) 19:42, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

User:Kww may be best to ask - he has worked extensively with this, pretty much putting together the WP:GOODCHARTS and WP:BADCHARTS lists. Without looking right at them, I would think that those sites would show somewhere in their pages how they got all the info for their databases... at least I hope so, I've used everyhit quite a bit. - eo (talk) 20:07, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
yea i've asked kww as well, it's just really annoying. every flc that this reviewer reviews he won't accept any uk source, it's really frustrating! and the fact that they're listed at WP:GOODCHARTS means zilch to this guy. i have pointed out that the bbc uses everyhot.com as a source and given an example, so maybe he'll accept it. the bbc definitely wouldn't use an unreliable source. Mister sparky (talk) 20:14, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Really tho, there is obviously a consensus that these websites are reliable, so if there's just one dude who refuses to accept it, what he really needs to do is bring it up at WP:CHARTS and start a dialog there instead of just removing it from articles. - eo (talk) 20:21, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
yes it is just User:Goodraise that has a problem. had kww involved in a long debate with him during the ne-yo discography flc discussion about his stubborn-ness. problem being, like he did with that one, he then goes and messages the other reviewers that have given their support and tells them to change their minds, which he shouldn't be allowed to do IMO. Mister sparky (talk) 20:25, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to pop up on somebody else's talkpage like this, but it does appear to be appropriate to do so. Looking at UK Singles Chart it appears the "official" UK charts are now taken from OCC, the information from goodcharts is taken from this source PLUS other sources, so although I would concur that chartstarts is a "good" source, it is not the ultimate source. Generally I doubt it would matter, but if there is a discrepancy between 2 or more sources we open the door to much editwars etc which I always like to see avoided where possible. So my recommendation (and this is assuming I have not read everything upside down and the wrong way round) is stick to the OCC. Cheers. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:13, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
only problem with that is the OCC website only archives the individual weekly top 40 charts for 12 months. for anything older the OCC website is useless. thats why an agreement needs to be made on the alternatives. there are 4 sites that archive the uk charts: chartstats.com, everyhit.com, zobbel.de and polyhex.com. but reviewers and admins can never agree by concensus which ones are acceptable :( Mister sparky (talk) 13:25, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
have found quite a few examples now of third party usage of everyhit.com, this would prove 100% reliability yes? the BBC, by British MPs in policy discussions, by Reuters and even in Norway. Mister sparky (talk) 13:39, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Billboard number-ones

Hi there Eric, good to see you around. Any comments you could make on the sources are appreciated. Also, I'm not sure if you noticed but many of the recent Billboard number-one single lists have been nominated for featured list removal (e.g. Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates/List of Hot 100 number-one singles of 2002 (U.S.)/archive1) because the Billboard links went dead a couple months ago. Do you know the best and fastest way to fix these links? Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 04:57, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Ouch, your comment was kinda hidden without a header, sorry I didnt see it! Anyhoo, looks like you and others have started to update things. I am also pretty sure each individual week is source-able on Billboard.com, at least back a couple of years... I've been sourcing the recent dance-chart number-ones that way. - eo (talk) 17:03, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Christina Aguilera discography

Billboard published the information that I posted. A lot of official websites from several artists published this information too (As Clay Aiken's official website, for example, that I used as a source). The first link I posted was from a blog, so I agree it could be removed, but the information was reported by Billboard Magazine at the best sellers (single)list of the last decade. I don't understand why you deleted the resources, then stated that it is missing a source? Now, I understand that the Gagapedia source doesn't count, but Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga)'s BMI and ASCAP are both provided, and on these, they show the copyright to Unreleased songs by her.
Here is her BMI page:

Pet Shop Boys Collaboration

Dear. Why do you delete the list of collaboration? it was a lot of work doing the list! This collaboration list is a remarkable part of Pet Shop Boys' work!!! It was discussed on http://www.petheads.de and http://www.petshopboys-forum.com. Further it is verifiable! Its source: http://www.psb-discography.com/ why do you say "doesnt belong here"???? it does! greets. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.74.162.154 (talk) 07:12, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

It does not belong per WP:DISCOG and other featured lists. The site is not official and there definitely should NOT be question marks all over the place in the table. - eo (talk) 17:54, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

In many other discography sites (f.e. david bowie) are lists of collaboration work! so why not on pet shop boys site? i refere to an official site!!! its http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/product/collaborations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.74.162.154 (talk) 07:15, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

The second problem are the 5 question marks? I can delete them... Its not a problem at all!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.74.162.154 (talk) 07:23, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

we discussed it on wikipedia-en-help... the list should be set on the discography site! maybe it could be renamed in "as featured artists" or something else. it has been sourced to an official site: http://www.petshopboys.co.uk/product/collaborations. substitute the question marks! a comparable list of collaboration songs exists on many other artits sites like kylie minogue, madonna or rihanna! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Keine melodien (talkcontribs) 09:05, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

No reaction, Mr. Enricorbit??? Please reopen the page - this wasnot an excessive vandalism! just a completion! at it is sourced official! so come on!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Keine melodien (talkcontribs) 10:12, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Opinion

hey, by looking at the list that they kept adding it seems that some of them could be included in an "other appearances" section as song-writers, if they are properly sourced by official reliable sites. not the ones the ip kept adding as they are obviously fan-made sites. when i was doing the flc for the Ne-Yo discography it failed mainly because it didn't include his songwriting credits, which i have no started adding and sourcing, so i do think that they should be included. but def not chart positions and def not with question marks all over the place. is that any help? :) Mister sparky (talk) 15:23, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Sweet Dreams (Beyoncé Knowles song)

Definite trouble here. I removed a set of charts (Billboard Brazil for being improperly sourced, Nielsen Poland for being unverifiable, and Billboard Portugal for being fraudulent). Jivesh boodhun (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is constantly restoring them, generally as an IP. I've struggled with him before, and I'm convinced that the Mauritius IPs are him. I've verified that he seems to be the only one editing anonymously from the area ... the edits from that range of IPs are nearly all Beyonce, with a few other pop artists mixed in.

Could you either semi-protect Sweet Dreams (Beyoncé Knowles song) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), or range-block 41.136.74.0/23? Either one would force him to use his named account, and let us do this by the book.—Kww(talk) 15:05, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Would you take a look at this article? Completely unsourced hence I redirected it. Another user came in and reverted back to the unsourced form, citing we need extensive discussion as to why this unsourced version should be kept. This is getting beyond ridiculous, the user is doing the same in all the Gaga articles, not allowing others to vote freely at the Afd's and intent on keeping articles which would do well being redirected. Would you take a look? --Legolas (talk2me) 08:42, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

I do this becasue her name is Janet JACKSON, on the album covers it does only say 'Janet', but her name is Janet JACKSON. I know she's been using the name since the 90's, but when you click on every song of hers, it comes reads "song by Janet JACKSON". Since you insist on what you say, maybe you should go through every one of her songs on Wikipedia and change them to say "Janet".- (Gabe19) 21:41, 8 February 2010

Can you please block this us Eric. His constant vandalism is becoming annoying. He only comes on to edits every few months I notice and always on the same page Whitney's latest tour. First he kept splitting the countries (Back then I didn't know how to give warning templates so I just wrote on his page) however people kept reverting them back inc me and he kept changing them, eventually he never edited again. Until a few weeks ago he did something and when I come on today I see he completed changed the whole page due to his opinion and altered the set-list ALOT. Can you please issue a permanent block? I was looking to try and figure out if he was a sockpuppet but I couldn't find the button to see which country he's from Jayy008 (talk) 14:10, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

Sooner or later it will show up on the source on the discography page. But its no need in adding it because sources shouldn't be cited for single songs. The Rude Boy (song) page has the source to refer to until it is updated. Candyo32 (talk) 15:51, 13 February 2010 (UTC)

"On" is an adverb in this context, modifying the verb "keep." Most sources seem to agree that "Keep On" is the correct capitalization here, so I've moved it back. Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many ottersOne batOne hammer) 14:06, 16 February 2010 (UTC)

Trouble at I Am... Yours: An Intimate Performance at Wynn Las Vegas (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). Same editor that I mentioned to you earlier here. It's obviously Jivesh boodhun (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) again, editing in anonymous guise. I think a rangeblock against 41.136.74.0/23 is the best approach, but, if not possible, semi-protecting the article against him would be a bandaid.—Kww(talk) 05:36, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

I semi-protected for a month. - eo (talk) 20:08, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
