Disambiguation link notification for June 2[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Henry Ford, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John S. Gray (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Cite video game[edit]

You see. When writing video game references we need to make them fully detailed. See the template cite video game. Fate/stay night was never licensed for English releases so quotes can also be get from English patches made by fans. As a result, the quote is pointless. Instead, in order to also avoid WP:Undue weight, we just write the level in which the reference takes place into. See Shirou Emiya's article as an example. Rather than using quote, we use instead the day in which something happens in the game or possible sequence which Type-Moon often names. Still, about character lists try not to in overdetails when editing section and focus only on major points. Happy editing.Tintor2 (talk) 16:46, 12 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, in case you are interested, some characters from the franchise could obtain their own article but only if they wp:notability. For this they need to have real world information to balance the fictional one. Asking to have as much as Shirou and Saber is pushing so in case you want to give Kotomine an article it might be possible if you find reviews of the first Fate/stay night anime or the Zero prequel. However, it might be difficult. The only other two characters I imagine being able to have their own articles are Waver and Illya since they got their own spinoff so reviews might be possible. In the case of Rider I merged her article since it barely had real world information. Try using Sakura or Kiritsugu as examples to follow in case you are interested. There was a Russian user who managed to add some creation info but he is busy. The type moon wiki has access to multiple books but I've never checked them carefully. October 2019[edit]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Pacific War shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Edit warring against the results of a RfC which concluded several months ago and which you participated in is awful conduct. Please stop this. Nick-D (talk) 10:28, 2 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • I had brief discussion on WikiAviator's talk page about this. Apparently AfC only deal with articles and not with templates. I have taken the liberty of creating your template. You'll find it at Template:Campaignbox Operation Michael. It's missing documentation. Beyond My Ken (talk) 12:34, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Heinrich Himmler; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:45, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • The infobox image you keep trying to replace has been in the aritlc efor wuite a long time. Enoguh that you need to obtain a consensus on the talk page before you remove it. If you contonue to edit wwar, you will be reported. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:45, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Beyond My Ken: First off, the change to the present image hasn’t been there for a long time. It’s been in place for barely over a week. I should know, I was the one who originally made the change.
Secondly, holding you to to the same standards as you hold other editors is hardly what I would characterize as edit-warring. In one page, you prevented me from uploading a cropped image on the grounds that it reduced the resolution of the original image. However, when I tried to prevent the same thing from happening on Heinrich Himmler based on this explanation, you reverted my changes. If you think my change is unproductive, you should at least say why. Otherwise, we need to hold a vote among the Wikipedia community on Himmler’s talk page. Is that fair? Emiya1980 (talk)

Tsar Nicholas II[edit]

Greetings Emiya1980, Could you stop changing the end of the 1st paragraph on Nicholas II's article? It's fine how it was, and there's no need for you to push negative opinions, as sources confirm Nicholas II was a capable ruler. The article went by the Neutral Point of View (NPOW) rule, and you have been unfortunately been involved in edit wars previously. Also, there's no need to make multiple edits on the same article in a short period of time, you can do them at once, and not spam the edit history page, and you keep undoing anything someone else types. I strongly suggest you don't use blogs as sources as they are not academic/scholarly sources, an ergo unreliable. You should read the main rules more closely here. --Joker0002710 (talk) 22:02, 16 September 2020 (UTC)Joker0002710[reply]

Joker0002710 The categorization of Nicholas II as a capable ruler is a minority viewpoint which is heavily outweighed by the majority of historians as well as the evidence set forth in the article. Moreover, if you read the sources I used, they are not blogs but vetted works by verified scholars. I have been more than accommodating in trying to alter my words to not be overly negative of Nicholas without changing the consensus held by most historians. You, on the other hand, have dismissed my sources as that of blog gossip and not made any changes to your claims about Nicholas being a "good administrator" when the vast wealth of scholarly research says otherwise. If you want to reach a middle ground, let's take this to the talk page. Otherwise stop reverting my edits while pointing to the same two sources which clearly represent outlier views on the subject. Emiya1980 (talk) 22:20, 16 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Emiya: Given the boiled down characterizations, I can ascribe to A - well-intentioned but poor ruler. I base my assessment on that of my father who served in the Russian Army under Nicholas II during WW-I.Moryak (talk) 20:45, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Missing s-end templates[edit]

Hi. Two of your recent edits, adding "succession boxes" at the bottom of Irving S. Olds and Roger Blough, were missing the {{S-end}} that is necessary after the last entry (usually an {{S-aft}}). In other words, the succession box should start with an {{S-start}} and end with an {{S-end}}. I've corrected those two at Special:Diff/980577096 and Special:Diff/980577199. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 08:30, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Mohammed Farrah Aidid.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ytoyoda (talk) 13:42, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ytoyoda I received your message about Mohammed Farrah Aidid. Please keep in mind that even in cases you believe are warranting speedy deletion, I still am entitled 7 days after notice to offer a counterargument or correct any problems raised with the image to prevent its deletion (as can be read here). I have since reuploaded the image. If you want to place a deletion notice on the image, you may do so BUT NOT without deleting it before the passage of 7 days. Thank you for your consideration regarding this matter. Emiya1980 (talk) 02:49, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please see WP:F7. The image was a Getty Images photo, and since it was used merely to identify the subject of the article and the image itself was not a subject of discussion or commentary, it failed WP:NFCC#2 and was subject to immediate deletion. F7 deletions do not require a 7-day wait. If you disagree, please don’t re-upload. Instead, please state your reasons for undeletion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Ytoyoda (talk) 04:24, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ytoyoda I have placed a {{subst:Dfu}} tag on the page. That gives me seven days to make a counterargument or correct based on the link you just sent me. Do not delete until then. Emiya1980 (talk) 04:31, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, that just adds another speedy deletion tag to the image and won’t stop the F7 deletion. You should instead follow the instructions on the template and hit the “contest” button and explain your rationale for why the image does not meet the speedy deletion criteria. Keep in mind though, that Getty Images is explicitly mentioned as a commercial agency whose work should not be used except to discuss the images themselves. Ytoyoda (talk) 04:35, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File:Ogden Mills "Dinny" Phipps.jpeg has the same issue as the above image and you can contest on the talk page. Ytoyoda (talk) 04:39, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
