Please note that I didn't delete the article, an admin did. that means that the admin reviewed the same article I did and came to the same conclusion that I did. You'll need to read WP:BIO, WP:RS and WP:COI, the Wikipedia policies and guidelines that discuss this issue. No offense to you, but your academic achievements don't meet the Wikipedia requirements for notability. Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Re: Roane Mountain images[edit]

No problem. Images larger than 300-350px tend to be discouraged except in particular circumstances, such as panoramic views (and even then, they should be kept to a minimum size). It's mostly to keep things clean-looking on the articles, but also because they are considered just that, thumbnails, with the larger image just a click away. — Huntster (talk • email • contribs) 00:37, 15 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability issues[edit]

Hi, perhaps I can help. There seem to be two different articles under discussion, one for an award and one for an award-winner. As the basis of the notability of the latter seems to depend on the former, let's keep things simple by just focussing on the former?

We (should) agree that a notable award is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia. Defining notability is tricky and often subjective. We have reams of material that help us decide, but there are still cracks. An often-used shortcut is that the topic has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial references in reliable sources.

So let's start with that. Do you believe you can lay your hands on multiple, non-trivial references to this award, from reliable sources? (bearing in mind our definition of "reliable sources"!)

Thanks for uploading Image:Miar.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. License for Image:Nanga Parbat 045b.jpg[edit]

The image Nanga Parbat 045b.jpg is a candidate to be copied to the Wikimedia Commons. When you uploaded this image, you licensed it for use under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). On behalf of the Wikipedia and Commons communities, thank you. However, the GFDL requires that reproductions of the image (and any other GFDL-licenced works), must be accompanied by the full text of the GFDL. The GFDL is intended more for documentation and not images, so downstream re-users may be hindered by additional restrictions of the GFDL which may not work well on the use of one image.

Before I copy this image to the Commons, I wanted to ask whether you would be willing to multilicense your work under an additional license, such as a Creative Commons licence. Creative Commons licences, such as the Attribution Share-Alike license provide a similar copyleft permission to the GFDL, but without some of its requirements such as the distribution of the licence text. All you need to do, is place the additional license tag alongside your current license. Users can choose between which one they want to use the image under. There are many free licenses accepted on Wikipedia and Commons which can provide freedoms similar to the GFDL, but without some of its requirements.

You are under no obligation whatsoever to alter the license. Doing so merely cooperates with those members of the community who believe that multilicensing your work can ease the reuse of images outside of Wikipedia.

If you use a GFDL license tag which requires distribution of Wikipedia's general disclaimer (indicated by "Subject to disclamiers" in the template), it is also suggested that you switch it to one which does not apply them.

It is also strongly advised, to update to the 1.3 version of the GFDL.

This is a great picture, but I doubt that it shows Shispare. I think the main peak is Ultar Sar (Ultar II). Shispare is supposed to be behind the ridge.
