You kind of owe them an apology. I'm not insisting or demanding, just suggesting. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:31, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

And I fully intended to apologize. It was an honest mistake, and one that is easy to make when the page is very hidden vandalism. Ducknish (talk) 00:37, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
I know it was an honest mistake; they happen, and a prompt and unconditional apology is usually all that is needed to rectify things. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:42, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi, You added a Level 4 warning to User talk:TheDirtyBubblezzz for vandalism (but your revert says it was due to unsourced content), despite the fact that there aren't any previous vandalism warnings and the edit was a good faith edit (all it needed was the movie source). For the purposes of AIV, could you change it to a more appropriate warning? They tend to ignore improper warnings. Transcendence (talk) 01:01, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

There's no need for a placeholder until there is actually content to be included. If someone wishes to draft an article in that way, they should do it in userspace, not in the article space. Ducknish (talk) 22:09, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

your reversion of my deletion of the material on talk:Roy Welland

I believe I am correct in erasing it as it is a false and unnecessary assumption. I am not very familiar with wikipedia though, and I very well could be acting against the rules of this website. If I am, however, I would like to know how I can best fix this problem within the boundaries of wikipedia rules. Thank you so much for you time and consideration and your service to this amazing website.

It's best not to remove or edit other's comments on talk pages. In this particular case, I'm not sure that the question of authorship the comment raises even matters at this point. The comment was made two years ago, so the article has likely changed substantially since then. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Ducknish (talk) 20:26, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Thank you, but would it be possible to erase the comment, as it is libelous. It's title is "he is the author of the article" while is not true and rude to the subject. I'm sorry if I'm being too picky! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.2.28.46 (talk) 20:30, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

It is an accurate statement based on what was in the article back in 2011. Looking back in the edit history, it said that he "is the author of this article". I wouldn't call the comment libelous, and I'd recommend that you not refer to it in that way. Articles change over time, and what once may have been the case may no longer be. Ducknish (talk) 20:33, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

It was not accurate. He never even edited the article. Where do you see that in the edit history? I'm not challenging you, I'm curious where that information is. Thank you for helping a novice learn about wikipedia. :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.2.28.46 (talk) 20:39, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

That statement was in the article in this version. two years ago. It was added on January 10th, 2011 by an IP user. Ducknish (talk) 20:43, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

But why can't it be erased if it is untrue? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.2.28.46 (talk) 20:57, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Because it was a comment made by a user about the statement. The offending statement itself is gone and has been for a long time. Ducknish (talk) 21:00, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Question re: User Page v. Sandbox?

Hello Ducknish. I'm a neophyte -- I'm just getting the hang of this -- and I've now made the same mistake twice by working on an article in a sandbox as opposed to my user page. Should I always develop articles on my User Page prior to submitting them for creation? I'm unclear on the difference between the sandbox and the User Page. Sorry if this is a silly question -- I've been trying to find the answer on the help page and I'm not finding it. THANK YOU!RBDowing (talk) 20:33, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

A sandbox is simply an extension of your user page that you can use for drafting and testing. It can be good to draft articles there before submitting them, if you want some time to flesh them out before they go live in the article space. Ducknish (talk) 20:45, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Shephard Smith: Dispute Resolution

Hi there,

We had a back and forth regarding whether to include allegations of Shephard Smith as a closeted homosexual on his wikipedia page. There had been previous back and forths before this. I decided to request Dispute Resolution to help resolve the matter, as there seems to be much confusion as to what is appropriate.

The allegations regarding Shephard Smith have been widely reported in news sources like the Los Angeles Times, and were talked about extensively in the documentary Outrage. Additionally, he was criticized by Rush Limbaugh for suggesting support for same-sex marriage on air. All of these mediums reach a wide variety of Americans and have large audiences, which is why I believe it is fair to include the information as allegations/speculation.Cat spasms (talk) 22:44, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

I attacked no one, I am thoroghly versed in this subject, much more than you. This entire subject of WW2 has been my passion over 35 years. I know what I am talking about. I have talked with Japanese people that are in their 20's, a huge majority of them know nothing of WW2 other than they think the US are the real war criminals and no nothing of the hundreds of thousands of Chinese and Filipino and hundreds of unarmed POW's that were executed in contravention to the Geneva Convention (do you know what that is?) The Japanese know nothing of the thousands of women who were raped numerous times and then murdered. The kids know nothing of how Japanese soldiers threw young Chinese and Filipino children into the air and speared them on their rifle bayonets.....do you know more of this subject than me?...do you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.104.89.94 (talk) 00:29, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

My addition is not just my opinion, it is known fact the Japanese education teaches nothing of Japan's WW2 past. I am thoroghly versed in this subject. I demand my addition be put back where I originally placed it, I am the expert on this subject, not you. Japan's chidren need to know the truth of its past. American children are taught of our painful past. Maybe a Japanese person in there 20's can be the catalyst of a change in their aire of superiority... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.104.89.94 (talk) 00:41, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

Does this mean that essentially if I had made the deletion and stated that I did it because there is no evidence of Angel Cabrera having a son named James Whitaker you would have left it alone? Sonoflamont (talk) 01:32, 15 April 2013 (UTC) Sonoflamont

i am new on Wikipedia and tried to add an article about Jeanette Buerling. The only problen now is that i have to add references. There is already an arcticle about her on the german wikipedia and her name appears in some excisting Wikipedia articles, e.g. she is mentioned as a producer on the feature film "Dark Tide". Is it reference enough having an already excisting article about her on the german Wikipedia. If not , what do i have to do to get this article to be accepted.

RE: Subprime lending edit

Hi Ducknish. I am not the user you have replied to re:subprime lending which was modified by another user 64.231.54.67[1] without an explanation, however I came to acknowledge the edit he made to remove the erroneous info on Canada is accurate. As a Canadian, the information originally provided by user 71.17.53.178[2] is intentional and hurtful misinformation / vandalization by a user with a personal agenda that CMHC is a form of subprime lending. Information about the differences between US and Canada subprime mortgages can be found below which contradicts the edit done by 71.17.53.178, found at the CMHC page. If user 71.17.53.178 can find a source for his erroneous definition he is welcome to bring it up, however his edit has no credibility and he abused the open source nature of wikipedia.

Sub-prime Mortgages in Canada and the U.S.
New types of “exotic” mortgages became popular in the U.S in the years leading up to the economic downturn. These mortgages often featured “teaser rates” that kept initial monthly payments artificially low, only to have them increase significantly later in the mortgage. Features such as this were never adopted by major Canadian mortgage lenders.
The sub-prime market did not take hold in Canada to the extent that it did in the U.S., where the vast majority of mortgages were originated by third parties and then packaged and sold to investors who often did not understand the associated risk. Most mortgages in Canada, on the other hand, are originated and retained by institutions whose goal is to maintain a long-term relationship with the borrower. CMHC does not insure sub-prime mortgages.
Canadian banks, trust companies and credit unions tend to have a broader relationship with their customers than just a mortgage, also offering credit cards, car loans and investments. They have a financial interest in ensuring that borrowers do not take on unmanageable debt, which reinforces their motivation to prudently underwrite mortgages.
The Canadian banking system is dominated by five or six large banks that together hold the majority of domestic banking assets. The large banks are in turn diversified geographically and across product lines, while the non-traditional, or shadow, banking system is relatively limited in scope compared with that of the U.S. Oversight is facilitated by a single authority (the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, or OSFI), which has responsibility for the prudential oversight of these federally incorporated institutions. Communication with the banking community is thus reasonably straightforward.
There is a strong focus on the quality of the banks’ risk-management practices. While this is often attributed to a traditionally conservative business culture in Canada, an important factor here is the difficult lessons learned from previous banking problems. An example is the economic difficulties in the early 1990s, which included a significant housing downturn. Canadian banks therefore entered the recent period of financial stress with better risk-management practices, focused on limiting credit losses, than in previous episodes. This helped to limit their exposure to some potentially riskier sectors and products. For example, subprime mortgages, as they occurred in the U.S. market, remained a relatively limited phenomenon in Canada.

Forgive my syntax as this is my first time using the editing options on wikipedia, but thanks for your time and hopefully the edit done by 64.231.54.67 to correct the Canada section will be reverted back to bring the page to its correct status. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PitDefinz (talkcontribs) 02:13, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

I would like to bring to your attention that the first paragraph is providing as reference a video that is not available and another generic article from 2003 that is not absolutely conclusive and doesn't support the misleading definition of the new science around structured water as a "simple marketing scam".

Thanks for your attention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AcquaPhi (talkcontribs) 03:56, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Island City Mall page

Oh, I'm so sorry Island City Mall Page, I hereby asking for apologies. I did not mean to advertize that site, I only did it for SEO purposes and I did not properly read the terms and agreement due to I am in a hurry and just making rush decisions. It is alright to me if you delete that page. Actually after I read your speedy deletion petition, I rashly delete the page myself but it doesn't make any differences. I just put the {{db-g7}} tag in its heading as what I have read but it does not seems to be working. Can you just delete it for me? once again, I'm so sorry! :-( — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kiel devera (talkcontribs) 08:15, 29 June 2013‎

Hey I know that NYC Council is not a perfect fit for WP:POLITICIAN by members of a national, state or provincial legislature. Active NYC Councilmembers have been getting articles for years. Right now if this article is deleted it will be the only one of the 51 members without an article. I know OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, but NYC has a population of 8 million people. The NYC Council does represent more people than 38 other states' legislature. If the article does get erased, there is no doubt in my mind that it will be recreated one day by some other user. Either way I totally understand. On a side note I edit base primarily on WP:IGNORE.Racingstripes (talk) 04:00, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

I see what you're saying there, and I agree. I've removed the PROD. Ducknish (talk) 04:18, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

It looked constructive to ME!
