Two quick questions

DrBat, I was just wondering why you took down the pic of Batgirl's new costume (well, the bat symbol is entirely yellow now)? I noticed some anons (or 1 anon with a dynamic IP, I'm not sure) keep putting it back up, and to avoid an edit war, I thought I'd talk to you about it. Is it the quality of the pic (my scanner doesn't like my new computer) or is just the overall look of the scan (maybe you're not a Tony Daniel fan)? At any rate, if you give me a valid reason for using the Knight Alone cover, I'll stand by it.

Second, I noticed you created an article for Misfit, but there is no SHB. I have a pic here for it from BoP 101, do you think it will be okay to use (I know you usually make better quality images, but as I said, scanner issues)?

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Land of the Lost (film), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Images

You do a lot of great work, and you should be proud of that, but your image contributions could be much better. Please, when you upload images, give a detailed copyright and source information. Artist, publisher, issue, number, page. I personally don't expect you to have to justify fair use, but you upload so many images, and so many of these do not have adequate information. For example, Image:Zatannalight.PNG: You give the artist and the web site you took it from, but not the company that owns the image, nor where it originally came from. I obviously disagree with you about which image to use regarding Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. A Kirby image was actually requested once in the evolution of the page, and I provided it. You uploaded this image, and I've now removed it from all pages it was on; it is now an orphaned fair use image and will be subject to deletion in a few days. I've done this because, for no apparent reason, this image, which was not created by the original artists who illustrated Rorschach, was used merely to illustrate what Rorschach looks like. It doesn't make sense: it's not even clear where this image comes from, or if it would qualify as fair use anywhere. I may, later, scan my own copy of Watchmen for a more appropriate image. If you want to save the picture you should find an article to use it in where it's helpful to illustrate this depiction of Rorschach by a different artist. Paul Kellerman

Actually I don't agree with you in status of Paul Kellerman. He was executed in Van. There is no chance for him to survive, coz he was sitting in small van during rain of bullets and it seems that shooters want to kill him and his guard. Wrong tagging

Hi, DrBat. What do you mean by adding {{notorphan}} to Image:Lmscarell.png, and removing the {{Orphaned fairuse not replaced}} tag? The template you added says the image is "public domain or GFDL-compatible" (which is incorrect) and that it's "linked to from" Steve Carell (which is also incorrect).

re: PNGs to JPGs

I've tried making PNG formatted images smaller, but I kept running into a major problem: either I have to seriously fiddle with the brightness and contrast (that includes comparing save images) or the result is seriously darker. Even with the fiddling, what I've tended to come up with is still a distortion of the original.

Looking at this and your comment about quality, it may be a hardware issue on my end. Looking at a JPG and PNG of the same image, I get 0 difference at normal screen resolution, 72ppi at my screen settings: 1240 x 1024 desktop, 32bit color.

Based on what I've got on my end, the best option I've got is to save the PNG, pull it into Photoshop, resize, and save out as a JPG. Not a perfect solution, but it works.

Any suggestions for working with the PNGs would be appreciated thought.

Unfortunately that does not seem to be addressing the problem: the base image needs to be reduced, not just the display in article. Or are you proposing that a re-sized image be saved off and then uploaded to replace the over sized base?

2 asides:

1. This also isn't addressing the sourcing of the images since it looks like you are taking JPGs from other sites and converting them to PNGs be for uploading. The "damage" is already there in the base JPG. It seems silly to try and say "The PNG is better quality." when it's based on a "flawed" or "degraded" image.
2. The image uploads should be following the resolution guideline.

Two-Face

Well, I know that Sale's version is more cartoony, but sometimes that works well on how the character should be represented I mean, thats why alot of people don't like Alex Ross's art its to realistic But the reason i chose it was that since the Long Haloween, thats pretty much been the canon representation of Harvey by most artists. Sure, he usually has a bit more hair, but thats his look And due to "The Long Halloween" being such an important book in Two-Face's history, I only thought it was appropriate to use it Anyways, I think having a cover to a character's main picture in an article looks silly Personally, a frame looks better.

I want to thank you for the assist. As you may note, the editor has returned, using his IP instead of signing in, to game 3RR. I've filed a 3RR report on him, but nothing's happened yet. I added this most recent infraction, noting his 16 minutes out of 24hr ranging, and use of IP, but also his use of signature phrases to give it away. We've stayed away from adding any of those characters to the category. If and when the character rates it's own page, then it can be added to the cat, but if the character doesn't rate their own article, why should they be in the cat? Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
