Regarding your addition of "B44" compression to the OpenEXR page: it might be useful to explain that B44 exists specifically to support real-time playback of OpenEXR image sequences. B44 can be decoded very quickly. In addition, its fixed compression rate makes file sizes predictable and allows for efficient storage allocation. For example, on a disk drive the files might be laid out such that each file gets a contiguous set of blocks.
