I'm done moving all the userboxes out of your userspace. The ancestry ones I moved back to template space, and the other two I re-adopted. Hope that helps you. -Royalguard11TalkMy Desk 18:45, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.

User talk:24.60.26.138 has been reverted out. Your vandalism template and all others were removed as the user self-edited his own page to match vandalism he did to the pages of other users, like Ace Class Shadow, which you fixed earlier today. Fencing?

Hi - wandering through pages (as you do!), looks like you could be a fencer and even an epeeist? Slightly surprised that there isn't a "Wkipedians who fence" category or aren't there enought around - cheers --Nigel (Talk) 14:26, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

not that technical - I'm a fencer <g> (good to meet another one too!) --Nigel (Talk) 17:26, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
OK then I looked around! There is both a category and a user box available! Cheers --Nigel (Talk) 10:45, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

A very Californian RfA thanks from Luna Santin

Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which succeeded with a final tally of (97/4/4)! I've never been able to accept compliments gracefully, and the heavy support from this outstanding community left me at a complete loss for words -- so, a very belated thank you for all of your kind words.

I have done and will continue to do the utmost to serve the community in this new capacity, wherever it may take me, and to set an example others might wish to follow in. With a little luck and a lot of advice, this may be enough. Maybe someday the enwiki admins of the future will look back and say, "Yeah, that guy was an admin." Hopefully then they don't start talking about the explosive ArbComm case I got tied into and oh what a drama that was, but we'll see, won't we?

Surely some of you have seen me in action by now; with that in mind, I openly invite and welcome any feedback here or here -- help me become the best editor and sysop I can be.

Again, thank you. –Luna Santin
Per your request, remember to do your homework. :) Will look forward to seeing you around, when you have the time. Luna Santin 19:01, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

To help you with your welcoming of new Esperanza members...

... TangoTango has kindly written up a script that once a week lists all of the new members to Esperanza. The list can be found at User:Tangotango/New members of Esperanza; it is updated once a week, and will show all of the new members since the last update. If you're not sure if everyone who joined the past week has been welcomed, that is a great place to check! I hope that helps you in your welcome, and thank you for making a point to greet new Esperanzians! -- Natalya 16:12, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

P.S. - I hope you're at school, and not reading this!

Revert in headbutt

You have reverted the addition] of the [[Zidane headbutt] picture to the Headbutt article as vandalism. I can't see how it is vandalism. Even if for some wrong grasp of fair use, you don't want the picture, you should not revert the valid editions in the text. So please restore the edition. Once you have done that, I give you a friendly reminder to go and do your work as you ask in your used page. --84.20.17.84 18:18, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

I was following up on your request from June that everything there be adopted by someone else. I see that this was done in August. You certainly could propose your page for deletion and nobody would care. GRBerry 15:33, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

vandal warning...

What template did you use on User talk:71.234.34.235? ---J.S (t|c) 00:49, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Concordia Newsletter

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now!

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

hi there

I have read help page where it clearly suggests that an article could be deleted on "notability" and "self-advertisement" grounds. I have suggested a couple of pages which I personally believe clearly fall in that category. This is, in my opinion, helping wiki not vandalizing it! So I suggest again, pages I proposed for deletion are clear instances of self-advertisement. cheersTumbleweedtumbles 20:45, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
