Wetlab

Wetlabs are a means to provide hands on medical education and training for the professional medical world, through the use of biological tissue and other means. Eventhough Wetlabs are mostly directed and experienced by those in the surgical profession, other medically trained practitioners are also educated through these means, such as theatre nurses.

Eventhough the definition of a Wet-lab or Wet laboratory is 'a laboratory equipped with appropriate plumbing, ventilation, and equipment to allow for hands-on scientific research and experimentation' Wetlabs can also be provided directly to hospital rooms and venues such as hotel seminar rooms, for the ease of the delegates.

WETLAB (company)

The Wetlab Company was set up in 2002 by Mr. Kevin Austin prior to that date it was an additional service provided by another of Mr. Austin’s companies, Austin Audio Visual. The company is based in the Midlands (UK) but also cover the whole Nation and most of Europe as well as providing there services World-wide. Wetlab Ltd while still providing the hands on surgical training service also produce surgical training and educational video programs. Wetlab also supply inexpensive surgical instrument sets enabling trainees to practice in their own time. Wetlab also offer to help individual hospital and centre’s to set up permanent training facilities. At the beginning of 2009 Wetlab ltd with the kind support and sponsorship of Sorin UK, opened the National Wetlab Centre which is based on the outskirts of Gloucester. The aim of this facility is to provide a permanent home to hands on surgical training. Not all Wetlab services are aimed at physicians. Wetlab produced a web site with the support of Sorin UK designed for the help of heart valve patients and their relatives.
