Whoa!

How can I thank you for the edit revert? (Re: The "External links" section of the Comsat Angels' Wiki article.) And how did you get to it so quickly? And how do you even know of the band in the first place? Or did you spot my plea for assistance on the crazy link bot's talk page? p.s.: I am registered (with username and everything!) to edit here at Wiki but have been preferring to edit without being logged in because I thought it'd save me from the aggro attached to these kinds of situations! 69.148.174.204 (talk) 07:49, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aww, thanks and you're welcome. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 08:55, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Gods, Demi-gods, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Gods, Demi-gods & Heroes. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 02:58, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank your CorenSearchBot, you seemed to have just helped me find a bug with Huggle. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 03:10, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Threatened Deletion Questions

Recently, on two of my pending articles, I was working to create articles about a special aspect about the game Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I was creating some articles to explain in depth the details of the Final Smashes in the game. I was also worried that adding these onto the game page Super Smash Bros. Brawl would cause too large of an article. You see, this is a very key factor of the game, and to truly explain it and the characters parts with truly showing the people what its like, it would be too large to add onto an existing article. My two disputed articles are Mario's Final Smash and Final Smash Attacks. I would really like help to understand. Thank you for your time, whatever you decide. Darkhyp (talk) 03:58, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Wikipedia isn't really the place for indiscriminate collections of information or a guide. The articles fail policies on verifiability and original research. I suggest you could merge parts of Final Smash Attack to Super Smash Brothers Brawl, but articles like Mario's Final Smash detailing each characters attacks would be too much. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 04:18, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for reverting my talk page -- looks like that vandal has been blocked, but another IP number has a similar pattern. Oh, well! Best wishes. WBardwin (talk) 07:59, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandal Patrol

  • Hello again, I see you're quite active doing vandal patrol. Would you like some help? I'll do the best I can, I'm also deliberating on an article I'm mediating, its rather complex, but I can never stop vandal patrol for one in need :P Steve Crossin (talk) 09:57, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aye, let us go into the breach once more.
And apparently there is an issue with huggle and pages that have characters like "&" and "+" in their title. I made a notice about it at Wikipedia:Huggle/Complaints. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 10:01, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think the page Wikipedia:Huggle/Complaints should be moved to Wikipedia:Buggle/Complaints. I will call it Buggle until it is fixed. And, hang on a moment. I'm asking BetaCommand to approve me for VandalProof, there was some glitch because I got a username change, so I didnt get a message whether I was approved/declined permission. But of course, I would be approved :) Steve Crossin (talk) 10:08, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You thought about using WP:VF? I used it with fantastic results for my first 10k edits or so. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 10:11, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have used Vandal Fighter before, but I don't like it. Not automated enough. I prefer Huggle, but its broken, and betacommand is just running a bot on their account right now, they're not responding to messages, and it's doing automated edits. Steve Crossin (talk) 10:31, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have now been approved and added to the checklist. Apologies for the slight delay. Rudget. 10:28, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Threatened Deletion Questions 2

Alright, I see what you're saying. If everyone picked apart every element of a game individually, it would take too much space, right? Anyway, would there be any way to go into detail about the game without it taking up too much information on the main article for the game? P.S., there is another article sort of like how I made mine, exept for even less professional (  :) )looking, called "final smashes", that wasn't deleted. Thanks for all your help!Darkhyp (talk) 13:36, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the best way to do it would be to create a section in the Brawl article named something like "gameplay" and fill that with the info about Final Smashes. I have to admit, I haven't played the game but I feel the section would best be limited to how the smashes are affect the gameplay. If you go into too much detail it'll likely be removed by an editor. And in the end some references will be needed. As for the other articles I will add the same prod I did to yours. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 13:52, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Crystals

Hello... saw your name pop up on the article just as I was about to speedy-delete it. Same thing - I couldn't find any trace of the film by name, by year, or in Arnold's bios on IMDB and Movietome. Thoughts? --Ckatzchatspy 06:48, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty certain it's madeup, considering the statement "*it was Parody by The Blob, Killer Klowns and Pokémon 3: The Movie." It could probably be deleted as G3, obvious hoax. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 06:58, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore since they claim on Crystal (disambiguation) that it was created by Universal Animation in 1959. That's at least 30 years before Universal had an animation studio. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 07:14, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback - I've nuked it. If it's real, I'll certainly take the heat, but from what you've and I have found (or rather not found), plus given there's a few fake edits from the two, it seems pretty fake. Thanks. --Ckatzchatspy
Oh, it gets better see The Short Cut. It was created by a user with a similar name as Crystal. Though it's an even more obvious hoax, most of it was copied from Short Circuit. But this one even comes with an image, I wonder what it's really from. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 08:03, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gone baby gone... the IP (User:220.233.239.198) showed up again with more fake entires, so that has been blocked. We'll see what happens now... --Ckatzchatspy 08:34, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please either remove your proposal for speedy deletion of [1] or contribute to the discussion on its talk page. SomeNonaSaint (talk) 08:39, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to point out that I never speedyied the template page. I speedyied the talk page because at the time there wasn't a template in that place, which is a normal CSD. In any event, I will remove the template from the talk page. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 08:44, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I put the {-hangon-} on the template page, because it said to do so on the talk page, as they don't belong on talk pages, apparently. I understand that it may be a normal CSD, but perhaps time should be given to actually develop the template? Any way, thank you for your co-operation. Damn! You're editing around the clock, it seems. I looked at what you said by the RfA. After you pass your RfA, you might want to consider cutting back a bit. If you can continue to do it 'round the clock, more power to you, but I've seen too many editors burn out after prolonged periods of hyper-editing. Heh, thanks for the concern. I know I work around the clock. I actually got very burned out after my first month of 5k edits. So I took a break, and since I've come back, I've just haven't let the vandals get to me. And I've had no stress at all since. As well, all the kind words from the community members have strengthened me. As I say on my user page, I do this as a hobby, which means in my spare time, which I have a lot of right now. When I post G6s for the talk page it's usually because there is no discussion going on about improving the article. One asked for post your email ID, and the other said NPOV, not really constructive. Usually I just replace with a project tag if I can think of one. But it's not the most important thing to delete those pages. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 06:02, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  4. Remember to use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology, usually somewhere very public.
  6. and finally, remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

THX

Thank you, DeadEyeArrow, for your prompt revert of the attempt to delete the Gary Forrester article. It seems that the person responsible was in the process of wholesale deletions of dozens of articles, mostly on a faulty "BIO" basis, when some of the articles were clearly meritorious. I don't think there was any malicious attempt by whoever this anonymous editor was, but he or she just didn't apply a lot of thought and didn't apply Wikipedia principles. Anyway, your quick correction was excellent. A lot of effort has gone into developing the article, consistent with Wikipedia expectations. Cheers, --Georgette.mccallum (talk) 05:39, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New to Wikipedia, Research Project

Hi,

I'm doing research on the effectiveness of wikipedia's user-policing policies and I noticed that you caught the random vandalism I put on pages relatively quickly. I hope I didn't pester you too much, I was just wondering how you noticed the very first piece of vandalism. The sites I was vandalizing included "zach gilford" "the last winter" —Preceding unsigned comment added by Haichen (talkcontribs) 07:30, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to go into the details of the tools that have been entrusted unto me to deal with vandalism. Research project or not, it's disruptive. Don't do it. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 07:43, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats

A late congrats on your RfA. I noticed you beat me once to a WP:AIV report. Keep it up! Cheers, Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 07:56, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What do you want taken out of it so that we can represent our organization accurately on Wikipedia. Please let me know. I am not trying to promote our organization for any commercial gain. I am trying to get the facts out there. Please let me know what I need to do to make this work.

I just had the page deleted

We don't want our organization unfairly represented, so I asked that it be deleted. So it is no longer there. I am new to wikipedia, so I don't expect to be back in the future as this experience was hard to endure. I could have used more help and maybe an email would have done the trick, but that didn't happen. I hope that your approach in the future isn't similar to my experience. I didn't warn for your reversion. I would never presume to warn for someone else. If you take a closer look at history of Joba Chamberlain you'll see the vandal struck again after you reverted. I reverted this and warned for. I'm sorry for the edit conflict, but I didn't warn for your reversion. Thanks for this reversion; not that it lasted very long. By the way, these diffs prove that User:62.56.56.183 is the same person as User:Chloe2kaii7, which means she's gone over 3RR. Do with that what you will (I'm not risking a 3RR myself by reverting, and if I report her for 3RR I'm afraid someone will decide to block me too for edit-warring "when I should know better". -- Zsero (talk) 18:19, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I blocked them for 31 hours for the breaking the 3rr, but I won't be making any more reverts on that page. You may want to think of a RfC on the issue. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 18:38, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator Help Requested

Just wondering... are you an administrator? If not, could you please direct one to investigate user Jumanji656? He has repeatedly vandalized the Cannibal Corpse page, and numerous album pages, with inappropriate trivia and incorrectly formatted quote dropping. In addition, he just called me an "ass" for reverting his nonsense, which I would like reported. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Logical Defense (talk) 19:16, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the mention on his talk page. Logical Defense (talk) 19:39, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas McEvilley

hi I thank you for leaving the McEvilley entry alone you wrote ( as did others )--

"Otherwise we just see someone who is removing text"

has it ever occured to you and your collegues that removing incorrect claims, wrong dates, pure nonesense etc. is a good thing?

that the people who might be doing so may not have time to unravel the incredibly ornate systen you have here but are actually qualified scholars who wish to contribute to this amazing encyclopedia but do not want to dedicate their lives to it? ( really this site is not in the least user friendly and the help and faq pages are incomprehensible)

I would imagine that random well meaning intellectuals who try and contribute get the same frustrating experience that I did and just never come back and try again

I know I won't-- and I was really looking forward to adding to bibliographies of a few artists I do research for.

this leaves an awful lot of folks with a lot of time on their hands and nothing legitimate to say--like the person who submitted all of that wrong biographical material on McEvilley in the first place--I was just trying to correct it.

wouldn't it be worth the effort to welcome folks to this process instead of imediately erasing anything they put up and accusing them of vandalism?

thanks and good luck jdb76.15.46.220 (talk) 14:37, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, DEA. It's me again. You'll might want to look at this on my userpage. I'm going to stay away from RC for kind of a long time. It's been great working with you. Tor IP's

These IP's you blocked 85.235.21.9, 77.57.100.222, and 84.217.230.141 are all Tor IP's from the Scott A Brown Tor vandal. Momusufan (talk) 19:30, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not really familiar, did I do something wrong? --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 19:32, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I checked all the IP's to see if they are tor's.

http://www.as3344.net/is-tor/?args=85.235.21.9
http://www.as3344.net/is-tor/?args=77.57.100.222
http://www.as3344.net/is-tor/?args=84.217.230.141

all 3 are open tor's, I know you gave them all a 31 hour block, but since they are Tor IP's, they will need at least a 1 year or more hard block, all Tor's are given Hard blocks for years at a time. Talk to Zzuuzz if you want to know more about them since he deals with such IP's most of the time. Momusufan (talk) 19:36, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Which tool are you using?

Hi. I notice that you are real good at finding and killing vandalisms. I've been doing a bit of that, mostly manually, and it is a big pain. I came across Vandal Fighter and am playing with it, but it is a pretty dull tool from my point of view. It still doesn't help with posting notices to vandals or AIV. Do you have some set of tools that you particularly like? Loren.wilton (talk) 05:04, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DEA uses WP:HUG, as do I. Enigma msg! 05:07, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, I use Huggle pretty exclusively now, but it's missing some features. VF by itself is really just a recent changes browser, but combined with Twinkle it can make a strong tool. I used those two for the first half of my vandal fighting. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 05:29, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not vandalism

You recently took down posts I made on 7 Nickelodeon shows, the criticism I made on them was not vandalism but strictly for educational purposes to teach the young and old how awful Nickelodeon has turned out to be. And what they are missing, what they forgot about, or didn't get to live with back in the 90's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redsoxrgr844 (talkcontribs) 07:58, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

User:Marc KJH

I strongly suggest you dont overlook the fact that Marc KJH is harassing me and User:Cordless Larry. He's also blanking his user page to avoid warnings. This is a vandalism only account that has been reported to WP:AIV twice today! He needs to be blocked. No punishment, no change! Thank you TheProf | Talk 18:43, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No I don't harass you, you do. And this is meat-puppetry you know. You don't understand the word WP:DISPUTE. Marc KJH (talk) 18:45, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
To Marc KJH -- No, you don't! You are a vandal and a bully. You are harassing me and User:Cordless Larry. TheProf | Talk 18:49, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're making personal attacks. Not nice of you. Good bye! Marc KJH (talk) 18:50, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with TheProf. Every editor, admin or not, may make mistakes at times and I believe you just made a pretty severe one. This user just came off a block and repeatedly returned to the same page to continue his actions. A content dispute is just that, a dispute over content. Repeatedly removing fact tags, tags about original research and sources the user doesn't like is no longer a content dispute. In addition to the harassment and edit warring, the user has also made several deeply racist comments today. May I ask you to explain how any of that is a content dispute? JdeJ (talk) 18:51, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You JdeJ harassed me by coming after my edits. Marc KJH (talk) 18:54, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, earlier today, Marc KJH went to WP:AIV and removed a report on him. TheProf | Talk 18:57, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you have some issues let's disscuss them, but don't file me reports on vandalism when you have dispute problems. OK? Marc KJH (talk) 19:00, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, look heres the evidence! TheProf | Talk 19:01, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To you all, it's a content dispute, such reports don't belong on AIV, simple. The page is protected, how about you guys try to work it out on the talk page, instead of coming here trying to get someone blocked. To theprof07, users are allowed to remove things from their talk page, continually readding them is harassment. Marc KJH, you shouldn't have escalated things by moving the page. Blocks aren't the answer and won't help the dispute, work it out. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 19:08, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent behaviour

The issue was more complex than an AIV, so I removed it. The fact that it was added again by another, and then removed again shows this. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 20:58, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked user not using unblock template to request unblocking

This user was blocked 31 hours for recreating an attack page, he is requesting to be unblocked but I can't seem to get him to use the unblock template. This edit shows he emailed his request to be unblocked and he's posting it on his page and it also exposes his IP which goes back to Australia. I told him twice to use the template but he won't use it. Momusufan (talk) 19:16, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well since he has stopped now, I don't think there's a reason to protect the page. Tell Placebo to look into it, since he's the blocking admin. It's unfortunate that he can't use the unblock template, but considering how sensitive the Macedonia/Greek issue is and how very POV the page he created was, the pages we rightly deleted quickly, and the block should stick. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk - Contribs) 20:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Forrester article

Hi Deadeye - a few days ago, you reversed a series of wholesale and indiscriminate deletions by anonymous user 72.241.104.7. He or she apologised on his/her discussion page. However, I'm sorry to report that he/she has emerged once again, doing the same thing, under a new anonymous number 72.241.101.20. It is clear that the same person is involved in these wholesale comments, as two of the articles he/she has attacked are Gerald Shapiro and Gary Forrester, neither of whom is remotely related to each other in any way. Both names appear in both anonymous contribution lists. I have an interest in this, because I have been very involved in the development of the Gary Forrester after an earlier go-round that was flawed because of self-edits and disorganized content. With the assistance of a number of Wikipedia editors, we have got the article into pretty good shape, I feel. (I don't have any idea who Gerald Shapiro is, other than what appears on Wikipedia.) You will find a very brief discussion of the latest attacks on Zagalejo's talk page, where the anonymous user makes some comments that are just plain factually inaccurate. What do you advise? We are happy to keep improving the article, if need be. The goal is to get the facts clear, with ample citation to sources, which we believe has been largely achieved - but there is always room for improvement. Happy to keep working to improve the article. Thanks Deadeye. cheers,--Georgette.mccallum (talk) 20:35, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
