Covid tagging[edit]

I'm not comfortable with tagging everybody much short of Boris Johnson or Tom Hanks as being sick with or having had Covid-19, especially if the only other content in their article is one line. It's undue emphasis in a BLP. Please stick to well-referenced and notable cases. Acroterion (talk) 11:24, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I figure if it's problematic as undue, then remove it from the articles, including deaths—people should be remembered for more than how they died might be the explanation.DMBFFF (talk) 11:27, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
over 190 people here: Category:People with HIV/AIDS. Anyway, time I took a break—likely for the day. Good morning and good health. DMBFFF (talk) 11:59, 10 April 2020 (UTC)'[reply]
I have reverted your recent edits. Several similar categories have been deleted; e.g. Category:People associated with the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, Category:People with COVID-19 and Category:People with coronavirus disease 2019. I have no doubt that the categories that you have created (Category:Survivors of the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic and Category:People with the coronavirus disease 2019) will also be deleted. Best wishes. Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 12:54, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads up and wishes. Best wishes in return. It looks like I'll being doing yet a few more edits today. DMBFFF (talk) 18:23, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus is against keeping this category, see discussion. Please stop mass-adding this category. Also, see WP:BRD; the burden is on you to discuss before mass-reverting Daemonickangaroo2018. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 19:14, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That discussion is 3 weeks old and I can't give my views on that CfD. I'm being BOLD. Thon gave me no (good) reasons for thon's edits. < 20 of such edits is hardly mass editing. I searched BLP for "disease" and found nothing. The category isn't about everybody in the world, but those notable enough to have WP articles, and if the sources are poor, again, delete such from the article and I'll generally be content not to cat it. Again, similar cats exist for other diseases, and I've heard no arguments for their exclusion (though, admittedly I haven't looked for such) and I see little difference between my two cats and the others, save that it might be less stigmatizing than being listed as one with HIV/AIDS. Admittedly I'm far from being a seasoned Wikipedian, but FWIW, one might nominate my cats for deletion. Lastly, FWIW, those interested in looking for a cure might be interested in these cats, e.g. are there unique and possible notability qualities among the survivours, besides age and gender. DMBFFF (talk) 19:44, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deletions can be challenged at WP:DRV. Unless the challenge is successful, we should go with the consensus, even if we disagree with it. Otherwise there will be endless, redundant discussions, such as the one we're having right now. :-) And again, it's WP:BRD, not BRRD. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 20:05, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think I do edit summaries in most, if not all, of my reversions. as for the Speedy Deletion: they weren't fooling.   :D   DMBFFF (talk) 02:06, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:People with the coronavirus disease 2019 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2020_March_9#Category:People_with_coronavirus_disease_2019. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Thank you. Hopefully this concludes my editing WP for today. Have a good one.   :)   DMBFFF (talk) 20:50, 10 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2020 April 10    11 minutes before the deletion, I got my last comments in. I think I argued my case well, but status won. No regrets. DMBFFF (talk) 04:51, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you're doing well.[edit]

COVID19 has created a ton of stress in my life, just like everyone else. The conversation at at CFD seems counter-productive to me but, really, it's just about a category on an online encyclopedia that doesn't display for most readers. I hope you're doing well in real life. RevelationDirect (talk) 01:00, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your kind regards.   :)
I'm doing well—hope your ton is reduced greatly.
As for the cats, I'm trying not to be emotional about my dearly beloved creations   :D   , and for the most part I'm succeeding. I have had hissy fits years past (mostly in two other wikis) and they were for naught save probably for learning. There may be a WP convention or two that I'm ignoring. Feel free to bring them up. Many of my "opponents"—if one will—here in these contentions have spent far more time, effort, and talent than I in building WP—steel sharpens steel, I suppose.
I made the 2 cats, I defended them—I might post a few more times in their defense, and if I lose, I lose. I kinda have my own wiki that if I'm super passionate enough to do some extra work—and I'm probably not—I'll make lists of covid-19 survivours there.
Again, thank you for your post, and may this year yet turn out well for you.   :)      DMBFFF (talk) 02:56, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to hear it. I created a whole category tree that got deleted once and it broke my heart (not kidding). RevelationDirect (talk) 10:03, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
