Reversion of text[edit]

I was wondering if you had a reason for the reversion. I know that I am new to editing, and realise now that I should have noted the change as an opinion (after all the original reads better). Coralhue (talk) 04:41, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello and welcome to wikipedia. Firstly, I apologise for not including an edit summary along with my change - it's always a good idea to note why changes are made, especially when they are not obvious from context. Your change involved two components; firstly substituting the words 'anti-Christian' for 'irreverent', and secondly adding your signature to the bottom of the page. It was the latter part that was the target of my reversion - who changed what is visible in the edit history, changes to articles do not need to be signed.

I only gave cursory thought to which of 'irreverent' and 'anti-Christian' was the most relevant attribute of the character to include in a brief summary. He is 'anti-Christian', but only in that he is 'conservative', wishing to retain the ways of his old gods - he'd be anti-anything-new-thankyou-very-much-I-like-thing-just-as-they-are. Your chosen term implies a more specific character trait than the character has. 'Orthodox' is possibly the most literally correct word, but widely misunderstood to be a religious term - in, I suppose the same way that 'irreverent' is strictly speaking 'anti-religious-authoritarian' but widely used to mean just 'anti-authoritarian' (Merlin's not strictly 'anti-authoritarian' - he's essentially a despot for goodness' sake). Anyway, I gave up at this point as work beckoned and hit the revert button, for which I apologise - by all means change the wording back if you're convinced by anti-Christian. - TB (talk) 10:55, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
