Proposed deletion of Surekha Vani

Hi there. Surekha is a noted actress in Tollywood films, although made not be much recognized in Kollywood films. She is known for her comic roles. And so far she has done over 100 films. If you follow Tollywood films, then you will definetely know who she is. There are lots of other Tollywood (Telugu) actors, who don't have an article on wikipedia. In the course, I will improve the article. I request not to delete this article, as it follows the guidelines of entertainers. Jayanthkumar123 (talk) 12:36, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Delete this Wikipedia article .Wikipedia is not for writing people's biography. It is for giving people information on what people are interested in. And there are articles in wikipedia for telegu actors, that are really famous and people keep interest in knowing about. Souradip Mandal (talk) 19:38, 22 May 2021 (UTC)

Munaf Kapadia

Hola! I've cleaned up Munaf Kapadia and I think it may be ready. Would you be able to please review it. Thanks! VV 12:25, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

More specific feedback please

Hey, thanks very much for reviewing my draft! Would you mind giving me some more specific feedback about why it was rejected please. I'm particularly struggling with the tone. Thanks :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cescapind (talkcontribs) 14:16, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

I don't know if you noticed, but the submitter of this draft has a misleading username, indicating good-faith confusion. The draft states that the subject, Ken Griffiths, died in 2014. The account has the same name as the person. This may be a family member, but in any case is probably someone who mistakes account name and article name. This is not exactly a common error, but it is more common than I would expect. I have reported the username as a good-faith misleading name. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:46, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

@Robert McClenon Good eye, indeed - no, I did not notice it. CommanderWaterford (talk) 15:48, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
This, in my view, increases the likelihood that the draft might become an article, because it isn't an autobiography, and it might not be conflict of interest. It isn't an error that is due to the policies and guidelines being confusing, but it is a mistake that is occasionally made anyway. Robert McClenon (talk) 16:07, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Oh, perhaps there is some kind of misunderstanding - I did not decline it for the COI - which clearly is present, I think. I declined it for now because he is lacking of significant coverage in the sources mentioned. CommanderWaterford (talk) 16:24, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Questions about AFDs

Hello! I saw that you relisted a marathon page in the AFD space. In the discussion of deletion, there are two "Keep" votes. Instead of removing the AFD, it has been relisted. Is it typical to do this several times until you have 10 votes? Or is there no standard vote number, but just a subjective feel to relist? What is the criteria for moving from AFD to being clear? Just curious; thanks for your reply. Comm260 ncu (talk) 16:32, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Sorry @Comm260 ncu but I am not able to explain you the whole AfD Process, which is very complex to be honest, here on my talk page. Please take a closer study at Wikipedia:Guide to deletion, an AfD Discussion wis relisted usually to get a consensus - the amount of keep and/or delete votes is not exactly relevant. CommanderWaterford (talk) 16:37, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Yes, thanks for the advice. The references are very helpful. The guidelines state that A volunteer (the "closing admin") will review the article, carefully read the discussion, weigh all the facts, evidence and arguments presented and determine if consensus was reached on the fate of the article. So you're looking for more participation? Seven days have passed, which is the standard stated. Again, thanks for your work. Let me know if there's something I can do to assist.Comm260 ncu (talk) 16:49, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Nominate

L. Murugan is not a assmbely member. He lost all election. He is only a president of a small state in India. The party has less than 2.5% vote in the state. Please nominate this page for deletion. 2409:4072:6D18:EFEB:2D6C:4264:602E:7EAE (talk) 16:41, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi there, as it's a school, unfortunately, the A7 isn't valid. I have, however, decided to AfD the article as I can't find any independent sources showing significant coverage. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 19:06, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

@Spiderone Well, it is an online platform/online courses - not exactly a school. CommanderWaterford (talk) 19:09, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
The website talks about having 35+ training centres across India, which I interpreted as meaning that they had 35 schools across India but I might well be wrong. Jam Circuit calls it a 'music school' but no idea if that's reliable. Not notable either way. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 19:14, 10 May 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, in the outcome it doesn't matter at all. Thanks for noticing. CommanderWaterford (talk) 19:18, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

Notability tag

Thank you for reviewing Society of German Natural Scientists and Physicians. I created the article mainly because there were several redlinks for it. Unfortunately, almost all the sources about it are in German, which I can't read. The society appears to be the German equivalent of the Royal Society and several clues make me believe that it is actually quite notable:

  • The lengthy German Wikipedia article which has almost 400 incoming links
  • The 12 incoming links on English Wikipedia
  • It already had its own Commons category and Wikisource page

Do you have any suggestions for how I can prove its notability and keep it from being deleted? Nosferattus (talk) 23:14, 10 May 2021 (UTC)

One way to go about this (without a translator) is to use Google Translate to attempt a rough translation for you. Open the Google Translate website, and instead of copying and pasting the text from the article, just copy and paste the URL into the "detect language" box. The site will offer a translated link, which won't be perfect, but it could get you the information you need for the page references. Give it a shot! Comm260 ncu (talk) 03:26, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Dunedin Collective for Woman

Thank you for your interest in this new page. Seeing as you were so quick to move it to draft, I invite you to now review Draft:Dunedin Collective for Woman. You will note that its references include coverage in three books, the corresponding article on the NZ government history website, and publications by or inspired by the Collective.

Alternatively, if you think that this is still not sufficient for article creation, I would appreciate your comments on what would you suggest would be required for it to match the standard of other Wikipedia stub articles.

With thanks Somej (talk) 08:02, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Teckzite

Hi, there was no promotional content nor such language on the page created which is declined when submitted for review, Teckzite is a national-level techno management fest page as many examples already existing on wikipedia. See Techfest page for instance. So I kindly request to accept the submission for review. Thank you! ShameenaSultana562 (talk) 01:45, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

I am not paid to publish Draft:Elijah Chinezim Onyeagba

My sincere apologies for reaching you late, I have been busy with other engagements. This is to inform you that I am not hired or paid by Elijah Chinezim Onyeagba to publish his profile on Wikipedia. Thanks. Bibihans (talk) 08:43, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Bibihans

@Bibihans I have no idea why you are publishing this on my talk page - but let me tell you the more you publish this info on several user and community talk pages the last days honestly it does not get more likely to be truth, the contrary is the case. @Theroadislong @Celestina007 for your courtesy. CommanderWaterford Sometimes it is actually discouraging trying to learn especially when you are berated for your mistakes. I run a thriving and growing finance and investment company in Nigeria and my being on Wikipedia is based on my love for writing (I have published to two books) and consider Wikipedia a platform to sharpen my writing skills but this insistent accusation of being paid just makes me sometimes abandon this pursuit. I am not perturbed as I will continue pursue learning here no matter how seemingly difficult it is made to be sometimes. Thank you Bibihans (talk) 09:04, 11 May 2021 (UTC)Bibihans

Hello, I'm writing in connection to the review of the draft article Brother Leo (Artist), which was rejected. I understand where the feedback is coming from when saying that the article already exist on Wikipedia. However, the existing page is about Ola Svensson, whereas Brother Leo is a completely different project, which significantly deviates from Ola's previous releases when it comes to the genre, topics, persona etc. For that reason I think it deserves a separate wikipedia page, as it is not a continuation of previous projects. I can also give examples of Wikipedia articles, which exist separately for an artist and their solo project; one of them is Years and Years, which is a solo project of Olly Alexander. Both pages have their articles. Similarly Tame Impala, which is a musical project of Kevin Parker also has a separate article. For those reasons I believe the article should have been approved. Thank you in advance for your response.Prolificainfo (talk) 12:39, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Notable subject but cannot accept

Hi, when trying to accept Draft:Yohannes Abraham (I'm currently double-checking if his position is a pass for notability) I realized there is already a redirect page for that article title. What is the proper procedure for dealing with the already existing redirect page? Apologies if this doesn't concern you. It just could be useful for any future similar scenarios. nearlyevil665 16:16, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

@Nearlyevil665 This is an interesting question which raises up every few weeks - my way is the following: I nominate the redirect for CSD (Housekeep/Moving) with the description "that an AfC Draft is waiting for acceptance with same title)", then I mark the AfC Draft as "under review" and wait until a Sysop deletes the redirect (usually up to 24 hrs takes it...), then I approve the draft. CommanderWaterford (talk) 16:26, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you! nearlyevil665 16:28, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
You are welcome, anytime. Keep up on the good work! CommanderWaterford (talk) 16:29, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
@Nearlyevil665 Redirect had been deleted, you can now accept the draft. CommanderWaterford (talk) 07:40, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

AfC Draft:Das_Ding

Hello! Thank you for reviewing my draft. I did not expect it to be reviewed this soon, and I certainly intend to make further edits. Now that you have given it a close evaluation, would you mind answering some burning questions I have with regards to the sourcing policies?

I understand that the current sources, being interviews with the subject in question or descriptions written by affiliated parties (record labels, etc) do nothing to adequately establish notability. I could realistically find a number of sources that refer to Das Ding as one of the pioneers and more prominent faces of the modular synth scene in Rotterdam and perhaps the Netherlands as a whole. However, none of these sources would be considered noteworthy publications, as the subject, a niche scene in a small country, does not see itself covered by major publications.

The fact is, minimal wave and modular synth tinkering are both very niche subjects. Had there not been Wikipedia articles on either of those topics, I would not have even tried suggesting an article on Das Ding. I guess the bottom line of my question here is; how does Wikipedia deal with subjects that are niche enough so as to have a sparsity of sources available, yet are already half-represented by a number of other existing articles (sometimes poorly sourced, but evidently acceptable since they exist in mainspace)?

(When it comes to the points outlined in Wikipedia:Notability (music), Das Ding qualifies at the very least for points 5 and 7:

Point 5; Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable.

I would argue Stones Throw Records qualifies for the latter part of this;. Das Ding has been featured on multiple compilations released on this label, namely, two individual volumes of "The Minimal Wave Tapes"[1]. Or does the fact that these were collaborative albums ("Various Artists") mean that it doesn't count?

Point 7; Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city.

I believe Das Ding's qualifying for this point is established by the fact that minimal wave, a genre apparently notable enough to warrant its own Wikipedia article, saw its early-2010s revival based entirely around, among other things, the rediscovery of this subject's music.)

Despite remaining relatively obscure, Das Ding has regularly performed at a number of Dutch music festivals and venues, including WORM (Rotterdam), Amsterdam Dance Event, Motel Mozaïque, GOGBOT, etc.; yet any sort of lineup or announcement posted by any of the aforementioned sources would not constitute an acceptable source, correct?

Thank you for your time.

Fexulaan   talk 17:33, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

It is my understanding that an article deletion discussion at AFD is not a basis for speedy-deleting a draft, because drafts are not subject to notability. If a draft was deleted at MFD, then a resubmission of the draft can be tagged for G4, but that isn't the issue. A previous AFD is a basis for declining or rejecting a draft, and you did decline the draft, and I have left a comment on the draft both about the AFD and the conflict of interest. I think that this is a case where the draft can simply be left alone for six months now that the submitting account has been blocked.

However, I will raise this comment again about the deletion of articles and their effect on drafts, at the AFC talk page. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:40, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

@Robert McClenon I totally agree, what I tried to say is that if approved it is very probably a CSD G4 candidate. CommanderWaterford (talk) 18:43, 11 May 2021 (UTC)
Yes, which is why it should not be accepted, and can be left alone for six months. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:58, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Good evening @CommanderWaterford:,

I hope you're doing pretty well today.

I noticed you placed a notability tag on the Arrest of Tianna Arata page, and since then I've updated the page with additional citations to prove it's notability. Additionally, doing a simple Google Search on the matter, there's a lot of reliable articles on the subject.

Since I updated the article with additional citations, I feel like the issue is addressed according to my understanding of the WP:GNG. I'd like to know your thoughts since I will admit you have more experience than me, but I'm open towards going back and adding more sources to the page if the issue hasn't been met.

Thanks for taking the time to read into my thread.

Regards. JayzBox (talk) 22:27, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi @JayzBox, checked it but I am afraid that I will not reverse the tagging - your subject seems to me a Wikipedia:BIO1E case, notable for only one event which is usually not sufficient. Passing WP:GNG could be questionable but that is the reason why I just tagged it and did not nominated it for deletion. CommanderWaterford (talk) 22:32, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

Adding Links to the Planning and Environment Act 1987 Page

Good afternoon CommanderWaterford,

Just wanted to thank you for flagging the orphaning in terms of links on the article I created. I have used the linking tool and have added inclusions in relevant pages such as Urban planning in Australia. Was there a specific minimum needed on Wikipedia for linkages or the links I have done so far should be okay?

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi

Can you help me? To develop this article Kurukkoli Moideen

This page was created for Kurukkoli Moideen (officeholder ) member of Kerala Legislative Assembly - Tirur (State Assembly constituency)

This page should not be speedily deleted because This page was created for Kurukkoli Moideen (officeholder) member of Kerala Legislative Assembly - Tirur (State Assembly constituency)

I added two more sources, and the sources are now evenly distributed across the article. Do you think it's now OK to remove the header template? Thanks, Skippy2520 (talk) 19:17, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Request on 10:25:32, 13 May 2021 for assistance on AfC submission by LindySQ

Hello, thank you for your review of my work, The murder of Marie Wilks. Could you please clarify for me my mistakes? I understand it was a single event, but I have read of similar single news events on Wikipedia, such as the disappearance of Madalaine Mccann for example. I had thought of linking the murder to a wider field of attacks on pregnant women, and the safety of female motorists, would that help? Also, I am a little confused as to citing sources, there are very few for the case. I really would appreciate your help in this if you have the time. Thank you once again.LindySQ

Just Like That (Toots and the Maytals album)

Hello CommanderWaterford. I am not sure if it is a usual practice, but I wanted to point out that you moved the article to Draft:Draft:Just Like That (Toots and the Maytals album) in case the repetition of "Draft:" was a typo. — The Most Comfortable Chair 16:57, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

No, that was a mistake by the script I guess, I will check this. Thanks for noticing. CommanderWaterford (talk) 17:20, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Roel Vermeulen, created link

Thanks for your feedback. I have created a link to Roel Vermeulen on the Exposome-NL page so that it's not an orphan anymore. @StarshipSLS I suggest you try to accomplish here on your own in the very first step - you are mistaken if you think that Mentors are going to do the work you want to be done. Well @StarshipSLS, I would also love to have an adoptee who is willingly to learn from our hints and advices. Seeing your contributions the last days I do see editing primarily you on userpages / userboxes or welcoming new users, when it comes to work at drafts you ask others to do your "work". Some Editors might get the impression of Wikipedia:NOTHERE. CommanderWaterford (talk) 15:46, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

NPP reviewing

Hi CommanderWaterford! I noticed that you approved Madeline Y. Hsu in the NPP log when it looked like this. I've since added some sources to establish that it passes NBIO, but that was very much not established at the time, so please be cautious; we don't want non-notable pages slipping through. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 19:21, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

@Sdkb I do not see any problem at all, she is clearly notable and so I tagged it as reviewed. What makes you believe that I did not a WP:BEFORE search before I tagged it as reviewed?! CommanderWaterford (talk) 19:24, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
You may wish to use {{Sources exist}} in the future, then, as otherwise there's no way for others to know that you or anyone else has done the WP:BEFORE. My understanding is that all bio pages created these days should have notability established before they're allowed to leave the patrol queue. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 19:33, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Relisting AfDs

Hi CommanderWaterford, hope you're well. When relisting AfDs for a third time, as you did at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sonita Lontoh (2nd nomination), please note that you are required to provide an explicit explanation. WP:RELIST says: Therefore, in general, debates should not be relisted more than twice. Users relisting a debate for a third (or further) time, or relisting a debate with a substantial number of commenters, should write a short explanation either within the {{relist}} template, or in addition to it, on why they did not consider the debate sufficient. Best, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 23:36, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

Notable or not?

Hello, thank you for reviewing my article. In the template above it, you mention it might fail notability requirements. I wanted to ask if you could give me your opinion on this? The article is about a singer who is kind of an internet celebrity in Azerbaijan and there are sources about her + many videos on YouTube and it appears she was on TV as well. But it is very local stuff. What do you think? keep or not keep? Thank you. - Creffel (talk) 11:49, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Confusing

Hello CommanderWaterford,
I am confused by your interactions with me which seems 100% through semi-automatic templates and do not answer to request for corrections. Are you using a tool, bot or semi-automatic edits ? Is your working process ignoring contributors' pings ? Your reactions barely seems to imply an human contributor, do not respond to pings, and are therefore confusing for the other party. If you are handling an heavy workload, a large number of tasks, and therefore cannot monitor each threads, please inform me so I take it into account and do not ask you further engagement and explanations. Yug (talk) 13:13, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello @Yug, thank you for reaching out to me but I am not aware of any interactions with you nor any pings from you, it would be quite helpful if you give me some link. CommanderWaterford (talk) 14:00, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
See User talk:Yug#Speedy deletion nomination of Illegal gymnastic skills, User talk:Yug#May 2021 (and User talk:Yug#Speedy deletion nomination of Damon Weaver). I tried to clarify the seriousness of my edits but got an additional accusation and no human responses from your side, which was confusing. Yug (talk) 14:27, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
@Yug I read your comments, indeed, but I have no reason to revise my nominations for speedy deletion. Lastly I do not decide wether your articles will be speedy deleted, this is task of an admin and as I see you are already in discussion with Liz. I do not see nothing to be confused at all. CommanderWaterford (talk) 14:33, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello CommanderWaterford I was wondering if you know what one has to do with for example Peter Cellensis in order to get rid of the Unknown parameter |DUPLICATE_pages= ignored notification in the references section. Thank you for your time. Lotje (talk) 14:44, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

@Lotje A parameter which was twice defined in the reference, I corrected it. CommanderWaterford (talk) 14:47, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

I'd prefer if this AfD were assessed by an administrator as it contains a GNG vs NSPORT argument which was not assessed in your close. Please kindly revert your close. SportingFlyer T·C 23:12, 16 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi SportingFlyer. I was watching this page due to another section and came across this question. I think the outcome was the correct close. NFOOTY is a community-approved guideline and while a consensus at AfD may consider an argument that players without GNG coverage should be deleted even if they satisfy NFOOTY requirements, AfD participants are not required to accept that argument. In this AfD, participants did not agree with your arguments. Best, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 02:38, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
{[re|L235}} I specifically asked CommanderWaterford about this and would still prefer the close be undone. WP:NFOOTY is a sub-set of WP:NSPORT, which requires the WP:GNG to be met, and still there's not a GNG-compliant source within 300km of this discussion or article. I don't think an administrator would necessarily close the AfD differently, but I think it was an inappropriate close for a non-administrator, especially given how the keep !votes acknowledge GNG wasn't all there. SportingFlyer T·C 12:24, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
I understand the frustration and I see your motivation here but you asked for an admin having a look at it and @L235 did so, he is an admin and he would have closed it the same. I do not see a reason to reopen it, it would be closed within seconds with the same result. CommanderWaterford (talk) 12:30, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Hello There CommanderWaterford Thanks for your review on a Stub draft created by me, I know there might be problem with it, Would you please guide me with what exactly you found the problem over here in the draft Draft:Anurag Batra, As I see he meets GNG criteria, Rest Your suggestion would be helpful enough to make it a good article. Thanks Suryabeej (talk) 09:32, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

@Suryabeej Your subject is not fulfilling notability criteria per WP:GNG at all. Please read the declining message entirely and carefully. CommanderWaterford (talk) 09:38, 17 May 2021 (UTC)
CommanderWaterford I have added more references to the draft would you mind having a look into it !? Thanks Suryabeej (talk) 14:01, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

How could the page be made more notable here on this Wikipedia? I used several references to verify the details on Michel Barrera. Now what should I do? Angela Kate Maureen (talk) 12:49, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

A request

Hey CommanderWaterford. For a brief moment, I saw your edit on Talk:Loganair Flight 6780 due to edit conflicts. A few months ago, I asked Afc reviewers to ping me if they stumbled on either a draft or newly created article that might be a 'Current event'. I mostly work on current events, so it is a kind curtesy that some editors do, so it won't be Wikipedia:Advocacy. I know me and you haven't seen eye to eye all the time, but I wanted to request that you might also ping me if you stumble on a current event potential article or draft. You don't have to if you don't want to, but if you did, I would gladly appreciate it. Have an amazing and wonderful day! Elijahandskip (talk) 19:56, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

@Elijahandskip Regarding our latest differences in evaluating notability of WP:NOTNEWS articles and seeing your arguments in the corresponding AfD Discussions I would honestly not count on this. Anyway wishing you a wonderful day, too. CommanderWaterford (talk) 20:01, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

"I am just walking" draft

Hello. I would like to discuss your rejections of my draft, because I think we're having a misunderstanding, and I would like to clarify that.

Firstly, I don't believe the phrase is a neologism:

...because it does not introduce some previously unknown lexics/morphemes/syntax/etc into Belarusian and/or Russian language. It is just a regular phrase, which gained humorous context due to protests and militsiya actions in response to it and therefore became a meme. Because of that I don't believe rule for neologisms is a case to be applied here.

Secondly, I don't quite understand why do you dismiss citations as "improper". TUT.by, for example, is one of the biggest online news outlets in Belarus, and for Belarusian and Russian Wikipedia (in which I've had experience with introducing new articles) its publications count as a very solid source. Publications related to the phrase do not express the opinion of author on it, but merely state the fact of its wide-spread popular use. There are also a lot of other news sites matching the same criteria, therefore I believe my citations meeting all the requirements. Maybe we're having a language barrier here, and you would like me to provide citations from English-written sources?

Looking forward to your reply and thanks in advance. --B.niekrashevich (talk) 06:14, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Autopatrolled granted

Hi CommanderWaterford, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Anarchyte (talk) 10:52, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I was just informed that you may be creating articles from translations of other wikis. If this is the case, you need to provide attribution in the summary for the edit that copies the work. This is a copyright issue and must be done. It would also be in your best interests to go through all the translations that you've made and add a {{translated page}} template to their talk pages. Anarchyte (talk) 04:39, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
@Anarchyte Interesting since I do not see no communication regarding this on your talk page. CommanderWaterford (talk) 07:17, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
That was the least important part of the message. Just make sure you retroactively tag every page you've translated with {{translated page|language code|name of article}}, like {{Translated page|ca|Margarida Aritzeta i Abad}}. Anarchyte (talk) 07:57, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
@Anarchyte You did not answer my question. "Somebody" told me is pretty unserious. The article you are mentioning is already tagged. CommanderWaterford (talk) 08:00, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
There was no question, but if you must know, Premeditated Chaos had some concerns. As for the tagging, you haven't done it properly. This is what you added; you need to add the code and the page from the other language wiki. Anarchyte (talk) 08:18, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
Ah, now I see exactly where this is coming from. Thanks for the info. CommanderWaterford (talk) 08:27, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
Having been pinged to this discussion - care to explain what you mean by that remark? ♠PMC(talk) 20:40, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
I also wasn't impressed by this response. There seems to be some form of superiority that's been running through your work as of late, CommanderWaterford. In your recent GA review you told the reviewer to pass it. This is not assuming good faith; you should assume your reviewer will be competent enough to understand the criteria and make a judgement call on their own. All this aside however, I've had to cut your autopatrolled permission because Tracey Reynolds, your most recent article, has part of sentences verbatim from her University of Greenwich biography page. The offending content isn't even cited to that page.
  • Your text: She has conducted empirical research in the UK with focus on social issues including black and minority families living in disadvantaged communities and the study of families.
  • Their text: She has conducted extensive empirical research in the UK across a range of social issues including black and minority families living in disadvantaged communities, the study of families and in the Caribbean and North America. Professor Tracey Reynolds, University of Greenwich.
I can't let these continued violations slide. I was willing to let you retroactively fix the wiki translation issues and let you learn from your mistakes, but this is an outright copyright violation from outside the project. People get blocked for less. Anarchyte (talk) 05:05, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I've also removed your NPR permission. We can't have people with recent copyright issues patrol other people's work. Anarchyte (talk) 05:59, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
@Anarchyte You must be kidding. This seems more to be a personal issue because "you were unsatisfied by my response" - I created over 60 articles and there are no copyvio issues at all. I am one of the most active NPP patrollers with no issues so far. @Atsme @Barkeep49 @Timtrent @Girth Summit @331dot for your info (see above). Let me be clear - if this situation continues that Sysops are granting and revoking permissions because of having personal issues or because they simply dont like a single answer then you will read very soon "Retired" on my UTP an a request at Arbcom. This is an absolutely unacceptable process. CommanderWaterford (talk) 06:40, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I am expecting within 24 hours re-instating my NPP permissions. If not I will definitely open a formal Arbcom review of this arbitrary, unbelievable process of a single sysop with not even having 1/3 of my edits being unsatisfied with my behaviour because I did not answer properly in their eyes. CommanderWaterford (talk) 06:49, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
  • Having been pinged to take a look at this I find I am out of my depth with the issues being discussed. The advice I have, CW, is for you to take five paces back from this, and use that distance to look closely at (a) what you have done and (b) what is being said that you have done. This will allow you to consider with calm care what has taken place.
Once you have done that, and only then, will you be able to reach a conclusion about whether to do one or more of
  • take this as a piece of good commentary and change any necessary behaviour
  • argue your case from a wholly unemotional position
  • consider what further action on your part is required. Pressing the Arbcom button rarely helps anybody, but causes one's editimg track record to be inspected in minute detail. We all make errors, but they get magnified under scrutiny
I suggest at least a day's space before posting further responses to this here in order to be able to see clearly the alleged difficulty and separate it from any real or supposed personal issues that you are seeing at present. Something has caused the issue, and you need to be sure that it either was something you haave done, even unwittingly, or was not something you have done. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 06:55, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I am sorry @Timtrent but you do assume that I have done something wrong which needed to revoke my permissions, do I get that right ? Well, congratulations, you are loosing an AfC Reviewer with thousands of reviews a month. I am not getting to accept at no way this I don't like your recent answers, you made 2-3 on your latest of your 90,100 edits, so I am revoking all of your permissions". CommanderWaterford (talk) 07:02, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Not at all. I am giving the same impartial advice that I would give without making any judgement of any description about the facts of the case. I do not feel competent to judge the facts and have not offered any opinion on what has taken place FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 07:12, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I think that revoking NPP is excessive. CommanderWaterford is a top NPP reviewer (click here, he is top 10 numerically for the 7 day, 30 day, and 90 day categories) and AFC reviewer (click here, he is #1 for AFC accepts/declines in the last 30 days, with 1146 drafts processed). This guy lives and breathes new page patrol. I encounter his work frequently and his efforts make a noticeable dent in the size of our queues at both NPP and AFC. Can a single diff be provided of CommanderWaterford misusing his NPP perm? If not, I strongly suggest restoring his NPP perm. Other issues raised should be addressed separately of his NPP perm. –Novem Linguae (talk) 07:25, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
@Novem Linguae: The amount of work they've done with the permission is completely irrelevant. See the ArbCom case for RHaworth. CommanderWaterford has shown here that they do not understand a major content policy with legal ramifications. I would hope that even on one's first edit they'd understand that copyright violations would be a big problem, let alone their 90,000th. I stand by the removal of both autopatrolled and NPR; if they want to question the decision, I would not be opposed to an ANI discussion and I'll default to whatever the community decides. Anarchyte (talk) 07:32, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Anarchyte, thanks for the response. You say it's irrelevant, but it's relevant to me. I think it's good for the project to keep net positive contributors around. So far if I am reading this correctly, the only diffs provided were of 1 close paraphrase and 1 failure to tag a talk page as a translation. Are there additional diffs available that justify the removal of 2 permissions for a close paraphrase first offense and a lack of translation maintenance tag first offense? Sorry to push back on this, but I feel strongly about keeping good contributors around. –Novem Linguae (talk) 07:44, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
@Novem Linguae: I was going to post this after my other comment, but as there was an edit conflict and it effectively answers your question, I'll post it here: As for the comments from CommanderWaterford above, re "I created over 60 articles and there are no copyvio issues at all", Tracey Reynolds had direct phrasing from another website and Margarida Aritzeta i Abad was translated from another wiki without attribution until being told to (which was then done incorrectly with snarky comments). For other unattributed translations, there are (not an extensive list) Eva García Sáenz de Urturi, Auditorio Alfredo Kraus, Island of San Antón (Pontevedra) (not yet tagged), Mariàngela Vilallonga (not yet tagged), Miren Karmele Azkarate Villar (not yet tagged), Montserrat Nebrera González, and Margery Wolf (a GA, not tagged). Anarchyte (talk) 07:47, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Those are not NPP related Diffs - and you see "snarky comments" - this is where all this about is coming from, they simply did not like the style of my answer. CommanderWaterford (talk) 08:04, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
I have no desire to dig through your contributions to find instances of abuse of NPP when the guideline for revocation states The user right can be revoked for violating any of the above conduct standards and for other misconduct. Copyright violations outside of NPP is misconduct. The guidelines for granting also state clearly demonstrate knowledge of page quality control. Introducing copyright violations does not indicate page quality control. Anarchyte (talk) 08:09, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
@Anarchyte You are once again not answering to the question - you are simply unable to provide a simple Diff when it came to serious issues because of my NPP activities - to say that I do not understand the copyvio Policy is for someone who made by far more NPP reviews than you did in 6 years just plain outrageous, sorry to say. Lets face it - your action was just plain unjustified and completely emotional based. I already contacted Arbcom members in order to figure out the proper way to revoke both permissions. I do not think that ANI is here the right place since we do not only need to talk about the revoking of the permissions if not also about the reasons for checking my edits and revoking the perms by you itself. CommanderWaterford (talk) 07:45, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
ArbCom don't step in until the community have had a discussion. If you had read Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration in your single year of being here, you may have understood that. Anarchyte (talk) 07:49, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for linking - Till now I did not have reason to do so - I was instead very busy on improving this project, patrolling+creating articles. But let me assure you that I will take a deep lecture today, the community needs to discuss content disputes, this is IMHO more of a sysop conduct dispute. CommanderWaterford (talk) 08:02, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
  • I don't know if the issue here is right or wrong, but I think it was premature to remove permission from such a longtime, productive user without a discussion first. 331dot (talk) 08:08, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

I'm going to start an ANI thread to resolve this. As I said before, if the community decides I was wrong, I'll (or someone else will) reinstate the permission(s). Anarchyte (talk) 08:17, 21 May 2021 (UTC)

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Revocation_of_CommanderWaterford%27s_permissions. Thank you. Anarchyte (talk) 08:37, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
  • Replying to the ping - my suggestion is for you to apologize for the aggressive behavior and take the time to learn more about copyvio. Following is an important read for you, and what many editors learn early on: User talk:Atsme#Putting things in perspective. Atsme 💬 📧 12:27, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Also responding to the ping - listen to Atsme, she knows what she's talking about and she has your best interests at heart. I received your e-mail, and I won't reply to the points you made directly, but please hear this: nobody is out to get you, people are responding to genuine concerns about your editing. I find it really hard to understand why, upon being notified that you seemed to have breached the COPYVIO policy, your first instinct was not to find out the details of what you did wrong and ask questions about what you should have done; rather, it was to ask who brought up the concerns. That's concerning, to put it mildly.
If you want to continue editing here, I think that your next action needs to be to say 'sorry, I messed up and responded badly because I was embarrassed and angry. It won't happen again.' As an aside, I'd really, really strongly advise you to stop mentioning your edit count. Anyone who cares about that sort of thing can check it very easily, yet every time someone raises an issue with you, you seem to think it necessary to bring it up. What might actually impress people would be positive, constructive and mature engagement with their concerns. This is all I have to say at this point. Gasape

Hi! I see you've declined Draft:Gasape as not adequately supported by reliable sources. Would you mind sharing your thinking here? In the article, I see half a dozen news pieces about the subject in what appear to be general-purpose regional media (one of which is the Kinyarwanda version of BBC). Is there anything I'm missing about those sources, or is half a dozen not enough to suggest notability? – Uanfala (talk) 20:26, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

You need reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject - I declined it for a lack of those ones (you do not refer to the several Google Plat Store Sources you used I guess, I see exactly one RS covering this service which is the BBC one, the rest are promo ones or do not cover the service itself). Feel free to improve and resubmit it. CommanderWaterford (talk) 20:38, 18 May 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, this looks like a press release, and the article has several sources that are not independent (but I thought what was necessary for notability is not the absence of non-independent sources, but the presence of independent ones, no?) I have to admit I'm not at all acquainted with Burundian media, but I take it you've researched it and concluded that news articles like this or this are solely promotional? – Uanfala (talk) 21:03, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

This is just flagrantly incorrect. The user is the creator of the draft. But even if they weren't, anyone can ask for undeletion of a deleted draft, not just the creator.
