Judy Chicago[edit]

Thanks for your interest in the Judy Chicago article!

Some of the formatting techniques and guidelines can get kind of confusing, so here's a couple of tips:

If you want to link to another article, you just need to put brackets around the words, like this: [[Judy Chicago]]
If you want to spell it phrased a little differently for a specific reason they you add the article name first, a pipe symbol, and the way you'd like it to appear, such as [[Judy Chicago|Judy Cohen Chicago]]. There's more information about wikilinks at Linking.
Please see WP:External links. External links should not be used within the body of an article. The only links should be to other wikipedia pages. If a link is the source of information, it should be formatted like a citation.
Last one, there was a clarify tag at the end of the "Chicago developed art education in which “female-centered content” is valued." sentence. I think that's because the sentence is not clear. What does "is valued" mean? I think is the point. The clarify tag should remain until it's resolved/rephrased.

Feminism article[edit]

Hello ChutneyPower, I noticed a change you made to the Feminism article, in order to add information about Zeisler's "marketplace feminism". I wanted to let you know that I undid your contribution. There's a brief explanation in the edit summary, and I went into more detail on the article talk page in this discussion. I won't duplicate that discussion here, and in any case, a user talk page like this one, isn't the right place to discuss article content; that's what article Talk pages are for. But I did want to just give you this heads-up as a sort of courtesy call, because I see that you are a professor of gender studies at PSU and are heavily involved in the direction of the PSU Art & Feminism edit-a-thons and have been for years.

The basic reason for the revert has to do more with Wikipedia concepts (principally something we call WP:DUEWEIGHT, which is part of Wikipedia's core principle of WP:Neutral point of view) than the content itself taken in isolation; but see that discussion for more information, and feel free to respond there.

As far as countering gender bias on Wikipedia, you might want to join the Wikipedia:Gender gap task force if you haven't already. There's also WP:Women in red, for improving biographical coverage of notable women, and various WikiProjects such as WP:WOMEN, WP:Feminism, and others that you might be interested in. I'm only somewhat active in these, but well aware of and supportive of their goals; you might check with those projects. User:Rosiestep in particular might be able to offer additional suggestions.

Finally, I'm just going through your Art + Feminism Wikistorming video now, but at 150' I can't promise to finish it; I wanted to see if you referred to Zeisler in it; I've been jumping around, but haven't found a reference yet. In that vein: it might help if you added a text file of maybe fifteen or thirty lines, with a time point and brief description in an attached file to that web page. For example, one line in that file might be this:

1:25:12 – presentation about Korean artist Yun Suk Nam, given by Eunkyung Hwang

A file full of lines like that, would make it much easier to navigate, and find what interested viewers were looking for. In addition, and more importantly: if you added text like that directly to the web page itself, it would be indexed by search engines, which means your talk would attract a lot more viewers by people searching for relevant terms. For example: right now, someone searching for 'Yun Suk Nam' will not find your presentation, because search engines don't index video or audio content, only text. (By the way: Eunkyung's presentation reminded me of one of my favorite women artists, and the only Korean artist I know by name: Yee Sookyung, and her gorgeous "translated vases" series. If you haven't heard of her, check out some of her work here. I'd love to see a Wikipedia page about Yee Sookyung; maybe you could mention her to Eunkyung Hwang and see if she'd be interested in taking on that task. (If Eunkyung is not familiar with writing on Wikipedia, I can help with that part.)

Eunkyung has a wikipedia page begun for Yun Suk Nam, which she showed us yesterday, and plans to complete by the end of this month prior to publishing. A primary goal of the Art+Feminism event is to introduce and encourage women to develop interest and experience in contributing to Wikipedia. I will encourage and work with Maggie-Rose to revise her Marketplace feminism entry and place where you suggest.
