List of (post-)birthday suicides?[edit]

I created Birthday suicide. Do you know if there are enough notable ones to create List of birthday suicides please?Zigzig20s (talk) 23:34, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am not quite sure what you have created, but I don't know of any birthday suicides and am not sure where to look. Nothing in my library, I don't think. Carptrash (talk) 15:37, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Just people who committed suicide on their birthdays when they realized nothing would ever improve.Zigzig20s (talk) 18:29, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure that you want/need that second qualifier? What if they committed suicide on their birthdays while believing that things might improve? Also, are you, @Zigzig20s: aware of this article? Birthday effect....... Carptrash (talk) 19:06, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A list of notable individuals who committed suicide on their birthdays when they realized nothing would ever improve because the world is evil and they would never be able to build the lives they wanted.Zigzig20s (talk) 19:32, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Don't you just mean, "A list of notable individuals who committed suicide on their birthdays." Period, the whys and wherefores are (opinion) irrelevant. Carptrash (talk) 19:59, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, perhaps everything has been stolen from them and they see no future, but there could be other reasons too...Zigzig20s (talk) 20:54, 1 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Where would we find them? Aren't they completely forgotten?Zigzig20s (talk) 20:21, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well there was a mural I saw in Winslow AZ with a title something like Elvis' Birthday in Suicide Heaven that might help. but . . . ........ Carptrash (talk) 16:12, 4 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I heard someone tell me he'd been murdered by the mob? But I don't have a reliable third-party source to prove it. Not even sure who "the mob" is these days--bad hombres, nasty women, or the corporate elite?Zigzig20s (talk) 08:59, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In any case it did not happen on his birthday. Carptrash (talk) 15:59, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Untruths and posttruths here. Fortunately that is allowed on talkpages. "Satirical praxis."Zigzig20s (talk) 16:15, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's . . . ..............true. Carptrash (talk) 17:28, 10 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Where would we be without satire? Found dead?Zigzig20s (talk) 18:17, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
How soon do we get to add Jeffrey Epstein to that list? Carptrash (talk) 18:22, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure. I don't think a retweet from the president would qualify as a reliable third-party source. He was a total sicko anyway, not a satirical joker. Not an overthinking newspaper-reader. Not a member of the interweb's crypto-elite!Zigzig20s (talk) 18:37, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
On the other hand, satire may be avoidance. Imagine having to wait another year for the next birthday to come--too long.Zigzig20s (talk) 09:04, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I manage to put it off, year after year. Carptrash (talk) 16:34, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
What keeps you going, if not satire? There is no future, it's just a repetition of the present...Zigzig20s (talk) 19:21, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There is one theory that we get to start all fresh and new every day, it's just that most of us choose to start at the same place as yesterday. What keeps me going now is reviewing and posting (elsewhere) pictures of my last 5 or so years here. And you? Now that they have effectivly taken away our tiaras? Carptrash (talk) 19:35, 14 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
My metaphorical tiaras were stolen, like everything else. I just had a bubble bath to think about your existential question and I couldn't find an answer...Zigzig20s (talk) 11:39, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
These are tough questions. You were probably too relaxed. Try them with Champaigne next time.Carptrash (talk) 15:52, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really drink. I pretend I am drunk in social situations sometimes, just to have an excuse to troll. Most people take everything literally--we live in a dumb and evil world. Anyway, still no answer.Zigzig20s (talk) 22:24, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No answer . . ..... as to whether we get to start of each new day fresh? Well as long as you don't believe it, it won't happen. If there is another question, remind me. If it has to do with my drinking habits, I play in a band at a brewery for free beer. Enough said. Carptrash (talk) 23:07, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"What keeps you going?" is the question. No answer. No future.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:14, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have a lot that keeps me going but less and less of it seems to keep me here. Carptrash (talk) 15:58, 19 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Less and less of both here. Probably no future, I don't see it.Zigzig20s (talk) 13:44, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I*s this something you'd like to chat about in an email? Carptrash (talk) 15:15, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I started an e-mail draft...Zigzig20s (talk) 17:46, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A good place to begin. Carptrash (talk) 17:59, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Or end everything.Zigzig20s (talk) 05:18, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well if we need a theme song . . .......................Carptrash (talk) 15:39, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I prefer this--with a crown, not just a tiara!Zigzig20s (talk) 19:46, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A crown!
Can't help with crowns but songs are another matter. Carptrash (talk) 20:59, 24 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It will probably be one long, final scream. "Silence Is Golden But Shouting Is Fun."Zigzig20s (talk) 16:08, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Don't stop now (and still waiting for that emaiul). Carptrash (talk) 16:40, 27 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's been sitting there as a saved draft for over a week now...Zigzig20s (talk) 17:27, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I too do a lot more sitting than, say, standing. Carptrash (talk) 21:27, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I spend a lot of time standing, and dancing.Zigzig20s (talk) 22:03, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Dancing is good. With my knees just standing is usually about as far as I go. Carptrash (talk) 22:06, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, there may be hidden messages on my talkpage. The problem is not internal, it's external/societal. Perhaps that is inevitable when the social contract is broken and there is no future.Zigzig20s (talk) 23:19, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"May be" is always balanced with "maybe not" but I will check, but there willl always be a future, that part is mechanical and allowing external forces to make one's internal decisions is very bad feng shui.Carptrash (talk) 16:18, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It ends when life ends. The future has been stolen.Zigzig20s (talk) 16:25, 29 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Both those statements are debatable. Carptrash (talk) 17:54, 30 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt it.Zigzig20s (talk) 06:10, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, anything is debatable. The debate might not change your mind, but it is debatable. Email me. We'll debate it. Carptrash (talk) 15:13, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Very difficult to debate.Zigzig20s (talk) 06:36, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I will allow you to pick the moderator. Cleopatra maybe? Or perhaps Diane Arbus? Someone who'd look good in a tiara. Carptrash (talk) 15:31, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Probably. What in? Carptrash (talk) 23:17, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
She has many ideas but societal constraints are dark dark dark. Life may be over already.Zigzig20s (talk) 08:05, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
"Life" as in, even the rats and roaches or something more personal? Carptrash (talk) 17:38, 12 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
..Zigzig20s (talk) 14:01, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
My daughter arrives shortly for a brief stay. She is a college prof. who teaches women's studies to students who didn't know that Male privilege had a name and other things. No brainwashing involved and hopefully none of the other stuff either. Carptrash (talk) 15:55, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Gender differences in suicide.Zigzig20s (talk) 16:38, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, one of the killer arguments against male privilege. "See we kill ourselves twice as often as women. How could we be privileged?" That falls into the "If you have to ask, then there is no telling you" category. Carptrash (talk) 17:42, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It was women who stole my American Dream, but not because of their gender, just because they were horrible people! (Gender norms are transphobic.)Zigzig20s (talk) 06:30, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it is time for you to pursue . ..say... the Icelandic Dream? Or something else, but there are many other dreams out there. Carptrash (talk) 15:36, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No. I will commit suicide if I cannot live the American Dream.Zigzig20s (talk) 15:55, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The American Drean is just that, a dream, what we need to do is to learn to live the American reality.Carptrash (talk) 18:34, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I have been suffering in silence for ten years (and when my silence became more audible, they tried to lynch me).Zigzig20s (talk) 06:27, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Strange Fruit, not pretty stuff. Carptrash (talk) 16:01, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting picture. It was inhumane and dehumanizing; a horrible mind-rape and psychological gangbang.Zigzig20s (talk) 20:14, 30 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, that stuff. Carptrash (talk) 01:20, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

List of suicides that have been attributed to political repression?[edit]

In the spirit of List of suicides that have been attributed to bullying, should we create List of suicides that have been attributed to political repression? I was looking at H. James Shea Jr. earlier but there must be many more.Zigzig20s (talk) 05:33, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think that searching through Stalin's Soviet Union there might be some. Perhaps also some during the Roman Republic & Empire. Carptrash (talk) 15:23, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
In the American context, do you think anti-war activists are often pressured into suicidal situations? I am a bit concerned about covert action [" Yes. Covertly. You don’t tell the world about it"--except online for the entire world to watch...], because I don't fully understand what it means and as a naive idealist I feel there should be good old-fashioned declarations of war for the people to decide first.Zigzig20s (talk) 15:44, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand this either, especially "she has put in place her own leadership team—which also includes many women—and so far has avoided having President Trump's political allies embedded in the agency's senior ranks.". But I am a Stupid Girl.Zigzig20s (talk) 16:07, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I can't decide if I prefer Stupid Girl or I'm So Stupid. I may need to tone down the gay...Zigzig20s (talk) 16:26, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I am not familiar with either song, just Stupid Girl (Rolling Stones song) and that is nothing to live ones life by. Carptrash (talk) 04:10, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

an emergency[edit]

(posted at Teahouse) I am dealing with an editor who is talking about committing suicide today. I'd like to be able to talk on the phone with someone from wikipedia who might have some suggestions as to what I should do. Carptrash (talk) 16:13, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Carptrash: Best advice is at WP:EMERGENCY. Nick Moyes (talk) 16:16, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks.

````
Carptrash I would add there is no form of Wikipedia business conducted over the phone. In addition, we're all "someone from Wikipedia" merely by virtue of being an editor. 331dot (talk) 16:19, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Below has been extracted from that advice page:
Contact the Wikimedia Foundation
Thank you both, I suspect that a phone call would not have done any good anyway, I am just about at my proverbial "wits end." On the other hand I believe in reincarnation, so . . . .... I have also been asked to post a fait accompli on the person's user page afterwards, perhaps I will add a link here. Carptrash (talk) 16:32, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
