September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Thanks!

Thanks for reverting the vandalism to my user page! - CHAIRBOY () 04:31, 21 September 2006 (UTC)

Can you help with my userpage?

Hey! I was talking with MangoJuice about my userpage (it's blank, sadly), and I was wondering if I could borrow your old userpage code? Here is what I like: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3ABuchanan-Hermit&diff=61625289&oldid=61504127

And, is anyone else using that same setup? I don't want to be a plagarist. :-S --RedPooka 19:56, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Yesss!

Aright! Thanks!

Can you toss me the code? I can't seem to get it off that page right... --RedPooka 20:00, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Awesome 8) --RedPooka 20:07, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Ok, got my main page set up.... can you help me set up the rest? --RedPooka 21:31, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Ok. That was apparently the stuff for the Bio page. However there are two problems.

  • On the left in the Bio page, there is anavigation thing. However, it is the wrong colors, and the wordin gis off too. When I try to edit it though it won't work.
  • I need the code for the other things too.

Thank yous. :-) --RedPooka 22:17, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Can you give me the code for Userbox Haven, Works in Progress, Notable Contributions, Travel, Trophy Case, and Photographs sections please? Thanks! --RedPooka 04:01, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Ok. But, how do I do that thing where the userobox things open and close (that "open" and "hide" thing you haveon there), and how do I get userboxes in them?

And... how do you reply so fast?! :-D --RedPooka 04:07, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Hey Buchanan...

--RedPooka 22:52, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Move your mouse cursor over it. :) --RedPooka 00:20, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

That's odd... :S

"Red Pooka awards this Barnstar to Buchanan-Hermit for being perfectly helpful in every way on getting myself set up on the English Wikipedia." --RedPooka 00:23, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Ok, just ONE LAST QUESTION: How do I make it where font goes around that "Contents" thing? It's on the Userboxes and Planet Pooka pages. You'll notice all the words are below it. Is there a way to make the words also be to the right of it (go around)? --RedPooka 00:32, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Perfect! I changed it to left, the code was all I needed. Thank you! --RedPooka 00:41, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Darn. That wasn't the last question. :P

Could you hand me the code on your awards page? It's those parts where the picture and description are. I hope that's the last thing I'll need hehe. --RedPooka 00:49, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject South Park

It's really great you've joined up to the project. Sorry I'm late to reply but I've been rather busy. Below is a template for the project. Here's a link to another user who has joined. User:Alex9891 Here's the template:

Re:WikiProject Template

Thanks for that. I'm just changing it right now. I'll be sending an information box on what the project is about within the next week. Thanks again! Mr. Garrison 17:48, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Code gone awry.

Replace "Image:Solid White.png" with a picture of the chosen barnstar/award/etc. Put your description of why you gave it here. Then sign your name with four tildes.

Is it possible you can make it where the text doesn't do that? I mean, how the first row is in the middle and then it just cuts off to the bottom?

P.S. I tried using your code, but I can't add a colored border to it. :( --RedPooka 20:58, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Why yes! Thank you once again. --RedPooka 03:31, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Help with image

Is it possible you could make all the wording Links to other pages? Kinda like on your page? Except for the wording at the top. Really really thanks! I think this will be the last for a while. :) --RedPooka 04:49, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I don't have any fancy image programs. I only whipped that up by adding some text to it. And I don't know how to code it either. Is it possible you could do it? :( --RedPooka 04:57, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Then is there anyone else who can do it? --RedPooka 05:02, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

  • sigh* I guess I'll just use it as eyecandy then... --RedPooka 05:05, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

South Park WikiProject

The whole idea is:

  • Lengthen stub articles
  • Include and merge character articles
  • Keep most articles up to date
  • Improve the main page
  • Make sure articles follow same outline/format
  • Perform cleanups/extending/shortening or articles

I'm still waiting for more people to join, but I am going to get in touch with users who the South Park fan template on their page to see if they're interested.

Alternative Approach

Well, I was thinking, is there a way to make it where when you click on the link to the userpage it redirects you? You've done it on your Userpage, where the "discuccsion" tab redirects to the original talk page. How do you do that? I was gonna make all the talk page things redirect to th actual one on my page, and on Uncyc, make it where clicking on my userpage will re-direct to my wiki-user page. :) --RedPooka 17:53, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Only problem is that creates on of those "arrow" link things. I just want it to automatically go to the page without having to click te re-direct thing. Mainly because, there would be a bunch of extra un-needed talk pages for every part of my User thing, making it highly prone to vandalism :S --RedPooka 01:02, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

GIMP

Do you know where I cna download version 2.2.13 of GIMP?! :S I was going to use it for stuff on Wikipedia. --RedPooka 23:43, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

Argh... It's just I couldn't locate the actual download for the program. --RedPooka 01:04, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

It's that time of the month again...
