A tag has been placed on Osmocote, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Osmocote and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 16:37, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read our policy on advertising -- and WP:Your first article -- before proceeding further. It might be legitimate to have information about Osmocote here, but not in such a commercial way. Everything you say about the brand has to be proven with reference to impartial, arm's-length third-party reliable sources and not read like an advertisement written by the company. Thanks for your note. I should say right off the bat that it will be very, very difficult to create an article about a specific trademarked product and have it remain, unless that product is so famous that impartial experts write articles about it specifically, or such that it has become a "household word" (like Kleenex or Coca-Cola). What I would recommend is that you find an article about the type of product that this is -- as I understand it, it's a plant fertilizer, so start there -- and then add information about the specific kind of fertilizer that this is. My other recommendation is that the information that you add should not be anything that YOU say -- it should be what other people say, and generally only what experts have to say. Whatever you add to the article should be verifiable, and it must also be relevant. The mere fact of the existence of a commercial product doesn't make it appropriate for Wikipedia. The product must somehow be notable -- special, unusual, better -- and that notability must be attested to by experts. If the product is another fertilizer very much like other fertilizers, and is not different or unusual (or prize-winning) in any way, then it might only be appropriate to have it be the subject of a line in the article about the company that manufactures it. I hope this has been useful; if you have further questions about Wikipedia policy, feel free to leave me a note. Accounting4Taste:talk 18:21, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
