Ma Yueh Liang Form

New messages below this line[edit]

It is not acknowleged by the Wu Family that the 'Fast Form' by Ma Yueh Liang is a Wu style Fast form. There are no videos of any Wu family performing the form nor the existance of any Wu family acknowledging the existance of such a Form. The Gold book in both English and Chinese versions also have no references in pictures nor words to such a form.

Wu Family Gate Keeper Succession[edit]

Dear Fire Star, I have confirmed with the Wu family that as Wung Kung cho was still in captivity in China with his whereabouts alive or dead unknown. The gate-keepership was transfered to Wu Ta Kuei as the Wu family disciples need a gate-keeper to be present, it was then passed to Wu Ta Chi. When Wu Kung Cho returned, it was offered to Wu Kung Cho who TURNED IT DOWN due to his old age, bad health as well as decades of non involvement in the Tai Chi fraternity. As a result of the Cultural Revolution, Wu Ying Hua and Wu Kung Cho were not Gatekeepers. Therefore after Wu Ta Chi came Wu Yan Hsia and Wu Tai Sin before the current Gate Keeper Eddie Wu Kuang Yu. You may confirm with the Wu family at their Federation Website www.wustyle.com

continual, undiscussed deletion of material by user[edit]

I and other editors have added material to the Thích Quảng Đức article in regards to him being referenced in tv shows and music. However, User:Blnguyen continually, and without discussion, keeps on deleting the info on the grounds that it’s “a serious article about a serious political event which caused international attention and lead to a coup”. (see here) I have a feeling he is white-washing the page because of some sort of POV on politics and or Buddhism. Can you please contact him about this? Wishbone Ash[edit]

Thank you for chiming in on the talk page. I was wondering if you could do me a favor on the page, since it is protected. I re-uploaded the image to the commons. The user was right about making the picture look better and I agreed, so I cropped the picture. The problem is the picture is scrunched now. I was hoping you could at "|landscape = yes" to the infobox to accommodate the new version. Cheers! -- moe.RON Let's talk | done 05:55, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the show of support[edit]

Probably safer staying away. It's more now about the administrator's actions, anyhow. I do find using "Pimp" as a user name rather offensive to women. I get annoyed that Wikipedia lets stuff like this slide. Thank you for the show of support. KP Botany 21:53, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Falun Gong[edit]

Thanks. I really worry about this trend on Falun Gong and Li Hongzhi's articles, but it's not like we can do much about it at this point. To anyone who does not know the true story, FLG can continue to use the banner of human rights and their seemingly moral high ground over the Communist Party of China to make up anything they want. I say we let them.

This battle is not left for Wikipedia. Independent sources from both Hong Kong and Taiwan (surprise right?) have all done studies on Falun Gong, not to mention various cult study groups in the United States who have already declared Falun Gong a cult with a manipulative leader. And this trend is growing by the day as Falun Gong becomes more and more exposed.

Besides which, it is interesting to note that regardless of Falun Gong's existence, the CCP will likely not survive another large social upheaval, and one is likely to occur in the next few decades. Chinese leaders seriously have a lot more problems to deal with than worry about some cult-like organization that tries to tarnish their image in the west. Therefore, Falun Gong should actually pray to Master Li for the CCP to remain in power, because as soon as the CCP is ousted, independent sources will be quick to uncover Falun Gong's ridiculous claims. Let us wait for a few more decades. Colipon+(T) 02:24, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where you are from, but here in Canada the Epoch Times has cancerous circulation. It can now be found at local SuperStores. Falun Gong is not only a new-age cult. Quite honestly, it is in fact a political organization which its leader chooses to mask in "spiritual benevolence", and has the luck and advantage to be going head-to-head with one of the more less reputable political parties in the western world: the CCP. The trend is terrifying. The believers are blind, and in turn, the general public here in the West are, in general, blind. People like David Kilgour and David Matas should spend their time and money to help develop Africa. Colipon+(T) 03:11, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Primary education[edit]

Thanks for sorting out the mess created by Mrs MacMan. She created absolute chaos over the last few days with her constant page moves and reverts, and it has taken up a huge amount of time sorting out all the mess she has created. The Primary education article is now sorted, and I've been able to update it with some new material. We do however still have a problem with the talk page as it is currently being redirected from Primary school and is labelled Primary school instead of Primary education. Could you possibly sort out the relevant redirects and move the copy to the Primary education page if you think it is appropriate. I want to create a new article for Primary school but can't do so until it has its own separate talk page. Many thanks. Dahliarose 12:50, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for sorting out the talk page. I think between us we've now managed to revert most of Mrs Mac's edits. There's one puzzling thing on the Talk:Primary education page which I haven't been able to unravel. Can you help? The Talk page is somehow included in the category "Educational stages" and I can't see an obvious way of removing it as the category doesn't seem to appear on the talk page. Dahliarose 14:34, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll certainly let you know if Jessica/Mrs Mac pops up again. I think she is in fact a young school kid, and probably has no idea of the chaos she's caused. I hope she's at least learnt something from her recent experience. I noticed your test edits. It does seem odd that the category is still there. Presumably some of the techie people will be able to sort it out for us. Thank you again for all your help. Dahliarose 22:52, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for getting the stray category sorted. I should have spotted that. I thought I'd already searched the page but must have somehow missed it. Dahliarose 22:53, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've just spotted one further problem. The talk page for Primary school is currently titled Talk:Primary education. I suspect Primary school should probably have a blank talk page as all the discussion is duplicated on the primary education talk page. I'm not sure what's been going on here but it appears that the Primary education page was at some point renamed as Primary school, but it seems to have happened before our young friend Jessica came on the scene. Could you possibly sort it out? Dahliarose 23:02, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for sorting out the talk page. I've added a note with a link to the Primary education talk page. The page histories are a bit of a mess but there was very little in the way of meaningful content in either article so I don't think it really matters. The original article does in fact seem to have been titled primary school but confusingly dealt with primary education. At least now we have three separate sensible articles for primary education, primary school and elementary school so the same problem shouldn't arise in future if Jessica appears in another reincarnation. In spite of the mess she created she was in fact right that elementary and primary school are not synonymous and that they should have their own separate articles. Team Colors[edit]

Fire Star-

I undid your revision on the Reggie Jackson site because in his specific case, I think that it is most appropriate to show Oakland colors. Jackson is one of those rare players whose identification is split evenly among the A's and Yankees. He is well-known as "Mr. October" in New York, and wears a NY cap in the Hall of Fame. However, he played more years in Oakland, won 3 titles in Oakland (versus 2 in New York) and finished his career for the A's in 1987. In fact, Jackson had originally intended to wear an A's cap in the Hall of Fame plaque, but had a falling out with A's management in 1991 and instead went to work for the Yankees and wear an NY cap. He has since reconciled with the A's, and his number is retired for both organizations. Since his page already shows a photo of him in a Yankees uniform, I think it would be most fair to show Oakland colors in the infobox, that way both teams are fairly represented.Pascack 21:11, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Pascack[reply]

Reiki: kiko and qigong[edit]

Fire Star, I've just put the following request on the Reiki talk page–thought you could help: Could you please confirm that there is a Japanese version of Qigong called kiko? for deleting that cartoon reference. I've watched the first episode, and "waterbending" looks nothing like any real style of tai chi. It's just all soft, flowing and circular. The definition should say, "Waterbending is based on tofu-taiji". VanTucky (talk) 03:36, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Continued vandalism[edit]

When my article Zhou Tong (archer) was on the main page, a certain anon began to change the dating symbol from CE to AD. Whenever myself and other editors left warnings on his user page, he would leave very negative messages about how "gay" or "stupid" people were for using CE. After being warned about the three revert rule, he openly challenged other editors to try to stop him from making changes. Once his ip address was blocked, he changed it to another. Then that was blocked. He switched ip's as he was blocked, but each address always began with "70". But after the page was "semi-protected", he couldn't do anything. Now that the page is no longer protected, he has returned to change the dating symbol again. However, this time, he has vandalized my user page with a user box that said my I.Q. was 65. Please see my user page's edit log and the log for my article for more background.

I realize that you are probably a busy person and that you can't really do anything until he vandalizes either pages several times in a row, but could you please keep a watchful eye on the page? I would eventually like to get permanent "semi-protected" status for my article. --Ghostexorcist 03:08, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am at loss what to do here. Basically we have submitted Aikido to FAC and it was going well when out of left field someone comes in and starts changing long standing definitions reached by consensus for their own personal view. Now that would be acceptable but the view is fairly out there (point of view), disrupts the article, and frankly seems directly related to articles she has submitted that have been having trouble. Its killing me - especially since the tags inserted will derail the FAC. It would not bother me nearly as much if the user was established.Peter Rehse 13:40, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aikido[edit]

Hello, I thank you for your visit to my page and for your message. I agree with your point, however, as an Administrator you should be able to track my first three trials to enhance the definition of Aikido which were simply deleted with no intention of justification or communication with me in the talk page, all enhancements were deleted time after time with no talk page explanation in a very omnipotent attitude, this logically triggered a justified reaction from my side. As far as people hear, you can talk, as far as people play deaf, you must shout...

I never gave a personal opinion in my enhancements but well grounded ones of which today I have given enough and solid references, other editors should review why and how someone enhances an article and don't act as omnipotent deleting without respect or comment, for that are the talk pages or...? If I was asked nicely and respectfully to provide references I should have done so, even if such definitions should be known by advanced students of the art. Kind regards Jennylen 22:56, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On persecution[edit]

It seems that one editor took an special interest in all my contributions just because I "dared" to challenge his definitions which in true are poorly and narrow defined. When I paid in same coin, finding inaccuracies and even questions about intention, the editor in question (who you obviously know) resourced to you for intervention and tried to make me appear as a disrespectfull contributor when in true I was disrespected in the first place. I would like that you as Administrator orientate me about how to stop this individual from continuing harassing me and my contributions, I could pay him in same coin as I have seen extreme inaccuracies in many of his own contributions and in his editions where many times he has acted despotically towards other contributors, however I want to avoid that unless necessary given that he seems to have good intention and good contributions in spite of his erroneous attitude and knowledge lagoons (which we all may have). Please let me know what can you do or I can do to stop this situation without I need to assume a hard line against him. I did not remove the talk content in my user's talk page, I simply deleted it in error when changing page for a reference while trying to export the talk content to my text editor, I am not familiar yet with this system and I couldn't retrieve it, you are welcome to reinstate it if you know how. Your tone unfortunately defines certain pre-judgement assuming that I have deleted it in purpose (removed) instead of assuming it was in error and offering your help.It is a pitty we need to relate like that Jennylen 10:09, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Troll[edit]

I know what a Troll is in mythology, however, could you be so kind to explain me what is the concept behind a Wikipedia Troll in the message you tell me about how to deal with trolls and vandals? Thank you Jennylen 07:06, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

With your knowledge of the Chinese language might you be able to tell me if my impression is right: are these two complementary, or maybe the same: Guanxi and Kongsi? VanBurenen 15:03, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much for the reply. VanBurenen 19:32, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your gift...[edit]

Thank you so much! I appreciate the kindness, and your helpful and inclusive attitude to all the taijiquan related articles. All the best VanTucky (talk) 15:17, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

spam-like articles[edit]

I find the articles on Yangjia Michuan Taijiquan and the teacher Scott M. Rodell to be substantially promotional and in direct opposition to most reputable sources. However distasteful the bio may be, I think he satisfies the source requirements. But the style is completely unsourced, so I have placed a {{notability}} tag on the article. If nothing is added to prove notability I'll go through the PROD and AFD process. I thought I'd let you know, since I wasn't sure if you were even aware of these articles. VanTucky (talk) 20:42, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your thorough response. I've now prodded the article, so we'll see what happens. VanTucky (talk) 00:20, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanx![edit]

Thank you for your kind offer for assistance and for the troll link . I will use it straight away asking you where I can find the icons or pics gallery so I can make my page and my talk page nicer and more friendly. Jennylen 18:29, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also wanted to ask, the warnings etc, I need to keep for always or have a limited validity or alternatively can be put in am archive after a while? I ask because looks quite bad as first thing in the talk page, yes I was bad , it is ok to have them, inexperience doesn't justify confrontation, I just want to know for how long need to be in first place of all. Thanks Jennylen 19:13, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Classics expansion[edit]

I've just barely begun an expansion of the Tai Chi classics article in my sandbox. Feel free to check it out and expand as it goes along. VanTucky (talk) 04:18, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You were really kind, thank you.

About the links for icons, great, and the explanations help a lot. The second box you showed me gives anicer feeling and more Flow than the first, good choice !Jennylen 07:19, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Assistance[edit]

Could you give a look at the Kushindo page (on the doing) The section I called identity is not exactly what I mean but cannot find the word, could you see if you can rename it better? Thanxs Jennylen 08:09, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alexis Bledel Archive[edit]

Did you delete the Alexis Bledel talk page Archive? There actually was an archive with old discussions. Are you sure that the deletion wasn't of that page and that someone hadn't vandalized the page? The link on the talk page, to the archive, is now red. - Duribald 02:27, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Our friend Jessica[edit]

Thanks for alerting me. I wondered why someone was going round archiving talk pages in such an odd way! I think you've now repaired all the damage.Dahliarose 09:31, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your expertise might be of help...[edit]

Recently I uploaded File:ChenFake.jpg, thinking it was quote old enough to be in the public domain. But now I'm not sure, and a deletion request on Commons has been made. The problem is, it is probably in the public domain under Chinese law, as I have never seen or heard of it being published in the U.S. (and certainly not before 1920). If I remember correctly, you are conversant in Chinese. If you could help me track down the original source of the photo it might be salvaged, or at least I would know for sure it was inappropriate rather than seeing a good image go to waste. I took the actual jpg from Chenstyle.com Thanks so much, VanTucky (talk) 04:35, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your efforts! VanTucky (talk) 19:08, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have been adding the sports part to the Pottsville High School part as a request of the student body please do not remove it. thank you —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.194.131.206 (talk) 05:59, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So a Statistical reference to a teams records is not part of the schools history in sports? From what I have read from your links is that I am able to put up information about the school that is important to its history. We have obtained a new coach this year and this is an important event to the entire city of Pottsville. Please allow me to keep updating this site as a service to the community. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.29.98.1 (talk) 14:19, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AFD?[edit]

I decided to browse through the tai chi chuan practitioners category, and happening upon Chungliang Al Huang, I think it's long overdue to try for another AFD. Almost all the keeps in the original were based on a Google test. I saw his book, Embrace Tiger, Return to Mountain, and upon browsing through it and seeing a YouTube vid of him doing a demo (you have to wade through to about 7:30 mark) I can safely say it is the absolute worst example of New Age fakery I've ever seen. Period. I didn't even know he was actually teaching until I stumbled on the article, and I thought I knew every taiji teacher in Oregon. VanTucky (talk) 02:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the 2nd AFD I have started. VanTucky (talk) 02:38, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

re:Dahn yoga[edit]

This is a troubling article. For sure, the controversies should be included. But it seems that according to the majority of reliable sources the organization is most notable for being accused of cult status, rather than as a legit instructional group. I think the separate controversy section (which is discouraged by WP:NPOV anyway) should be removed, and the info integrated with the intro and history sections. As the majority of sources only deal with the accusations of cult-hood, this should be part of the basic introduction to the topic. Putting it in the history section, where it can be structured in more balanced "point-counterpoint" way, will also probably alleviate some of the objections. They can't remove the entire history section now can they? I'll put an abbreviated version of this argument in a talk section. VanTucky Talk 19:44, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just completed a restructuring of the article. Let me know what you think. VanTucky Talk 20:30, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that two new users supportive of the practice, if not members, have signed up for accounts in order to edit the article. I would appreciate your help in maintain the neutrality of the article. VanTucky Talk 19:01, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fire Star, I am concerned about the direction that this article is going. It seems far from neutrally edited. Also, there are in fact many reliable outside sources that have reported about Dahn Yoga in a favorable light. I would appreciate your guidance as an experienced user and administrator. Jessica[edit]

Please forgive me if I've got the wrong end of the stick but I've noticed that a new editor User:MSerje seems to have a virtually identical editing pattern to that of your old friend Jessica though at this stage there do not seem to be any major disruptions. The recent edits to the High school article raised my suspicions as a large quantity of legitimate text was deleted without discussion in the same manner as before. Do you have a facility to check IP addresses just to be on the safe side? Dahliarose 19:18, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd agree this is a pretty obvious sockpuppet. Nposs 01:12, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for taking such prompt action. It's saved me a lot of trouble. I shall keep a watch on the other user name. I suspect she's trying to use multiple accounts to avoid detection, but her editing style is somewhat distinctive so she's quite easy to spot! Dahliarose 09:27, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
