Week 7 Feedback[edit]

Hi Bethy,

  • Your article is not bad to start with, but you can add a lot more. It looks like the paragraph that is there is shaping up to be talking about different sections, which is good. I would start thinking about what sections you could divide this article into. For example: Hydrology, Threats, History, Conservation Activity, Waterfowl. I think breaking it down into sections will be helpful to bite off small chunks.
  • The references in the current article are good and you have found some really good additional ones. I think those will provide a lot of good information for you and also an idea of what kind of sections to create. Did someone else provide some other suggestions for you on the article's talk page? I didn't see a signature so I was confused.
  • The External Link section is also a good one that could be used for further references. The reason it is listed as external links because no one cited these sources yet. But you can.

Keep working at it and always ask if you need any help. Just remember to publish your changes frequently and every time you do, write a summary of what you did, so that someone can follow along. When you answer any of my comments here, make sure to use the colon to start your answer. This will indent your text so it can be easily differentiated from mine. Hi Dr. Hill, thank you for your feedback on my article! I was having trouble on figuring out how to start it but breaking it up into different sections helped me narrow down my research and organize it! Hi Bethy!

To start, I really like how you have broken up the article into different sections. It makes the article look a lot more professional. It seems like you have found a ton of good resources that will allow you to increase to content in the article.

I'm sure you know that the wildlife and vegetation section is currently empty, but just as a reminder I figured I'd mention it. A lot of the information that would be included in the wildlife portion of this seems like is already discussed in the "Threats" section of the article. Possibly you could add wildlife to be included in the title of that section, or move the information regarding wildlife in that section to your new section "Wildlife and Vegetation".

It seems like the article is really moving in the right direction!

Week 8 Peer Reviews[edit]

Hi Bethy!

Right off the bat I notice one little thing. In the first sentence when its talking about the PPR being a part of the Great plains, midgrass prairies, and tall grass prairies, using the word "and" to seperate each area effects the flow, try listing them instead with commas. "The Prairie Pothole Region (PPR) is an area of the northern Great Plains, midgrass, and tallgrass prairies" Also maybe go into depth about what these areas are and where they are specifically located (the article does mention later on the specific states that are included in this area but be more specific to help clarify this) Other than that this first section is well organized including lots of information specific to the area, its size, and location.

The third paragraph in this section can be added to. The information is there but I think it will be benificial to the readers understanding if you expand this section a little more. Because these potholes arent connected by surface streams, go more into how water accumulates and explain how they effect water levels.

The last paragraph in this section includes lots of information and facts about the PPR, and how they are threatened. Theres information describing the impact of these diminishing potholes (importance to migratory birds), but what causes these impacts? Agriculture and climate change are mentioned, but what do they cause? what actually happens? how do these things effect the prairie pothole region?

Also, remember to keep adding sources to help you expand your article.
