I started to create a page entitled "leet world" a few weeks ago, and have decided to remove my productions and additions to it due to a lack of interest in the subject. I apologize if you were interested, but it's just not my forte anymore, designing a small page that mostly no one will read. Furthermore, they are videos, so people could watch them straight from Youtube, so there is no reason why they can't simply view them there.Omnechist (talk) 17:15, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

WP:Hornbook -- a new WP:Law task force for the J.D. curriculum

Hi Bearsona/Archive 5,

I'm asking Wikipedians who are interested in United States legal articles to take a look at WP:Hornbook, the new "JD curriculum task force".

Our mission is to assimilate into Wikipedia all the insights of an American law school education, by reducing hornbooks to footnotes.

  • Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
  • It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
  • Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
  • I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.

What you can do now:

1. Add WP:Hornbook to your watchlist, {{User Hornbook}} to your userpage, and ~~~~ to Wikipedia:Hornbook/participants.
2. If you're a law student,
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Regards, Andrew Gradman talk/WP:Hornbook 05:47, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Old Friend! I have a small request

Hi Scapler, long time no see. It's Pericles here. Although I mostly focus on Chinese history articles here at Wiki, I do have a history of editing articles on European history, such as raising Augustus and Giovanni Villani to featured status. This time I've decided to honor that most ancient of civilizations in North Africa by completely rewriting this article: Ancient Egyptian literature. I plan on nominating it for FA status very soon. I was hoping you would have a look and tie up any loose ends. You know how my writing is! Lol. Cheers.--Pericles of AthensTalk 08:18, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Scapler! You've come to the rescue once again! You're going to get another barnstar award out of this, I guarantee it. Then again, I hope you don't find too many errors, sloppy edits, careless mistakes, etc. in my writing and grammar! I hope I have finally written an article which will need very little copyediting, but we'll just see about that when you comb through it. Infinite cheers, --Pericles of AthensTalk 04:30, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

You deserve it:

The Editor's Barnstar
I, Pericles of Athens, award User:Scapler with this honorary Editor's Barnstar for his excellent work in copyediting Ancient Egyptian literature during its Featured Article Candidacy. Congratulations! Pericles of AthensTalk 04:22, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, my prose writing has improved quite a bit. About the periods and commas outside the quotation though, the style you chose is decidedly British, which is not wrong or anything, but I chose American style when I rewrote the article, which, incidentally, does place commas and periods within the quotation marks. See the "punctuation" section of the article quotation mark. In any case, thanks once again for copyediting!--Pericles of AthensTalk 04:25, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I think I've only known the difference between British and American styles for about a year now. I used to follow the British model exclusively; now I like to mix it up, and use either American or British style quotations in articles. It's only fair to us Yankees! Lol. Cheers.--Pericles of AthensTalk 04:32, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Hey! This barnstar isn't on your user page yet! Mongo get so angry! Mongo want to crush and scalp Scapler! Lol. I used that ChildofMidnight pun there. Hah.--Pericles of AthensTalk 09:49, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks!--Pericles of AthensTalk 11:30, 19 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks once again; a lot of hard work does pay off in the end, fortunately. Of course, copyedit help and oversight provided by those such as yourself is at times a deal-maker in the usual FAC process. For that I am forever grateful. Cheers.--Pericles of AthensTalk 04:13, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Rayquaza

I'm genuinely impressed, you've gotten a good solid start there! It needs a bit more reception, but beyond that it looks like it's on its way. You might state who's saying the reception by the way instead of going with "some", helps with legibility and keeps the audience from having to check the refs to see just who said what.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 11:18, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

I took a deeper look at the refs, and two things that come up: first you're going to have to show that the pokemonofthedaychick is a staff member in the ref (which is rather easy at least, the email address is "@ign.com") and you might get hit up with questions about The Lakeland College Mirror reference, so expect those too.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 11:25, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

Gov. of American Samoa

I wrote (and FAed) most of the current Governor of American Samoa articles, but I'm afraid that I don't have time to continue the project right now. One of these days, I will finish Henry Minett and move on to the next. There is a woefully inadequate amount of reliable sources on the early governors and we're straying somewhat close to original research in using so many newspaper sources, but I'm happy to help out where I can. If there's a source you need or a newspaper article that I can look up in the Harvard library system, I'm happy to do so. Also, I have maintained a contact with the (former?) territorial historian of American Samoa who has vetted the existing set of articles with me, but right the major issues there right now and some health issues, I don't think he'll be able to help the project right now either. Orphaned non-free image File:Nathan Drake concept art.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Nathan Drake concept art.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.

Hi, per Talk:Nathan Drake (character)#Images, I have removed this concept art from the article (and inserted two "free" images). A stronger fair use rationale would be needed for this art if it is to be retained in the article, considering how similar the concept and final character are in appearance.
