Short descriptions[edit]

Thanks for your additions, because Guyana needs quite a lot of updating. Anyway, that short description entry is for mobile phones (see: Wikipedia:Short description) If it is not correct, you can change them, but they do serve a purpose and somebody will soon or later add them to new pages. Help with constitution of Guyana[edit]

I can't find an article in constitution that relates to this from National Assembly (Guyana)#Parliamentary term:

The president must also constitutionally dissolve the National Assembly after a successful no-confidence motion against the government[1] in order for new elections to be held within three months from the date the motion passes.[2]

Specifically why president must constitutionally dissolve parliament, and where it specified no-confidence motion against government is a thing.

  • Constitution (2012). "CONSTITUTION OF THE CO-OPERATIVE REPUBLIC OF GUYANA ACT" (PDF). Parliament of Guyana.

Svito3 (talk) 21:50, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article 106(6) for the motion. The CCJ ruled that there is no practical pedantic difference to a motion of confidence or no-confidence since it is the outcome of the motion that triggers the resulting constitutional provisions.
Article 106(7) for elections within 3 months. Only the president can dissolve parliament to formally call an election so by constitutional procedure the president must be the one to constitutionally dissolve parliament. BaronJaguar (talk) 23:59, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
