Flagging Cary Herman for further review[edit]

Hello, BHOrchid … I recently encountered the article about Cary Herman and in my opinion, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.

I am considering tagging Cary Herman (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for deletion according to the Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.

I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.

Be sure to read Ownership of articles, and remember that Some Other Editors (including at least one administrator) may not share your opinion about the notability of the article's subject.

I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Your first article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now. — Triwbe (talk) 19:27, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've seen some of your work and am trying to post an article. I wanted to get your read on the relevance of the article so that hopefully we can have it posted and protected. Previously, there was an incident between an editor and an admin that prevented the article from being posted. Would love your expertise and advice, please. God Bless- BHOrchid (talk) 19:24, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm assuming you're refering to the Cary Herman/Cary Herrman article? In that case, you have to respect the vote made on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cary Herrman. I'd suggest re-reading the WP:BIO-guideline and taking some time of Wikipedia to think it through. If you after a week or two still feel like the page was deleted unjustly, make an appeal at WP:DRV. —Gabbe (talk) 19:51, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cary Herrman[edit]

Let's get our facts straight, first. I did not delete the article original article. The article was deleted after a five day discussion where the result was "Delete", which neither you or anyone else who wants this article so bad participated in. After you recreated the exact same article, it was then deleted per the the speedy deletion criteria of WP:CSD#G4, because it was a recreation of deleted material. I then protected the article, because it was quite obvious that it was going to be continually recreated. You then recreated the article on the talk page, which was deleted and protected by another admin. You then proceeded to recreate the exact same article under a different spelling, which I then deleted and protected. Let's not accuse me of making things personal, when it's quite obvious Cary Hermann's career is personal to you and others. Feel free to submit your article to Wikipedia:Deletion review if you would like others to review it's deletion. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 19:58, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Don't take it personally that I have a hard time believing that you're not either 1. User:LDCortez, 2. Another employee of Cary Herrman's, or 3. Cary Herrmann, himself. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 20:12, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, don't know him or anything about him. Don't even care. I have a hard time believing that you would come to the conclusion that I have something personal against User:LDCortez if you had truly read the history of the article and her talk page (which she's deleted most of it). I was also not involved in the Deletion process other than to submit it for AFD. You really need to get your facts straight. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 20:59, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, could you please demonstrate on how I "attacked" the article or User:LDCortez? Jauerbackdude?/dude. 21:01, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Your reading comprehension really needs work. I'm not even going to bother trying to explain any this to you, because you apparently failed to read the entire conversation, which is fully linked to on my talk page. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 21:26, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LDCortez[edit]

No, the email CAME from his company's email. People can fake that, but they won't do it accidentally when they are pretending to come from somewhere else, which she was doing. She claimed her name was Laura, but according to the link, (which has conveniently been changed in the last few days) it stated a "Lucy Cortez" as being his admin assistant. The WP:COI was not reason for the deletion, but it was a contributing factor. Cary does not meet the notability requirements of WP:BIO. That is why his article was deleted. You can't honestly be comparing Donny Deutsch to Cary Herrman, can you?

Oh, and please stop trying to pretend that you're not associated with Cary Herrman. You quite obviously have more than a passing interest in him and his article. Finally, I'm done trying to explain this to you, because I don't feel you're being honest with me at all, anyway.

By the way, here's a cached version showing "Lucy Cortez". Nice try, and have a good day. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 21:47, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Jauerback,

If you are saying that LDCortez emailed you from the email she placed instead of from wikipedia, then that makes more sense. Is this the case? Is there a way we can look at IPs to see?

The cached page makes more sense and I see your side of the argument and reasoning. I'm still uncertain as to how we are trying to connect Lucy to Laura but the change to the page is interesting unless it was simple coincidence.

I am still not in agreement with your actions on blocking the creator, as LDCortez was unable to defend her article, but can now understand your reasoning/ where you are coming from.

You appear to be getting defensive and I do not want to get on your bad side as did LDCortez, I am simply trying to understand how an objective article was able to be deleted without the creator having proper position to defend. Basically as I see it, LDCortez was tied-up, bound and gagged while the "trial" for this article occurred. To address your skepticism on how I came across the article, I googled Mr. Herrman after attending a seminar where he spoke on responsibility of business leaders to invest percentages of their business to humanitarian efforts in Africa. If you heard the man speak, you would understand why I defend him and believe he has more notability than most others on here.

I was also impressed that the topics he spoke on were found on his company's website, I respect individuals who walk their talk, so to speak. Yes, I would not only compare Mr. Herrman to a Donny Deutsch- but from what I understand, Mr. Herrman is self-made, a humanitarian and a leader in his field. Donny Deutsch inherited an agency, has had years of PR behind him and who now has a talk show about "nothing"... while Mr. Herrman is working to change the world.

Thank you. BHOrchid (talk) 22:10, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1. It doesn't need to be unprotected for DRV. 2. User:LDCortez was blocked for 31 hours. The discussion was going on for 5 days (120+ hours). She was notified of the discussion, deleted the notification from her talk page and from the article (numerous times). She had plenty of opportunity to participate. She chose not to. Don't try and distort the facts that she was handcuffed from doing so. Jauerbackdude?/dude. 23:24, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request[edit]

I'm not sure what you'd like for me to do. I see you've started a deletion request. You should just let that play out, and see what happens. - Rjd0060 (talk) 23:30, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nor am I; the deletion review should be left to run its course first. Keilana|Parlez ici 18:05, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
