WARNINGS

How is that a disruptive edit? I was talking about the subject and i had a question and i wanted it answered. Stop getting on to me about these things they aren't vulgar comments. Whatever grudge you have on me needs to end quickly. Tj1224 (talk) 15:40, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

I'll explain one last time: The talk pages of articles aren't for asking random questions. They're used for discussing the article and how to improve it. If you just want to ask questions about the subject or just talk about the subject, go to a forum. Wikipedia is not the place. If you would be a great content contributor, the odd question here and there on talk pages wouldn't bother anyone, but you don't contribute, at all.--Atlan (talk) 17:00, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

contribute

How do you want me to contribute then? Tj1224 (talk) 18:18, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

However you want. It's a volunteer effort, so edit whatever articles interest you.--Atlan (talk) 20:37, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

Okay i will start contributing and try to stop randomly editing. Tj1224 (talk) 15:33, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

FF 7 quote

Just wanted to have an informed discussion about the Gamefan quote I added. You had stated that it was "slanted and misplaced." Now, I'm not sure if you're referring to the content of the quote or the formatting. "Slanted and misplaced" could be interpreted to mean biased and inappropriate. If that's how you meant it, then I'd respectfully disagree. "Quite possibly the greatest game ever made..." is one of the most well known quotes about FF7, and speaks to the praise it has received and influence it has had. That quote appears prominently on the back of the game box and is cited in many contemporary reviews. There was even a conversation about its conspicious absence on the FF7 Wiki discussion page, and I was just seeking to remedy that. Now, if by "slanted and misplaced" you just meant that the formatting was messed up, I made that change using Firefox and notice that it looks different on IE. Let me know and I'll work so that it looks better. But I definitely think the quote shuold appear in the article for the reasons mentioned above. Looking forward to discussing, let me know your thoughts. TempDog (talk) 18:01, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Atlan, read the summary of your last edit where you said custom dictates awaiting resolution of a discussion before reverting. Fair enough, but I checked this talk page, my own, and FF7 and did not see a response. I await your comment. TempDog (talk) 20:15, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
You have to give me some time to reply, I can only do it as fast as I can type. :-)
By slanted, I meant it was not neutral. Obviously it's not neutral, as you're trying to convey what you conceive to be the general consensus among reviewers about the game, which is generally positive. So let me stress that was just an observation and that I'm not faulting you there. However, I don't think such a slanted quote in a seperate box is appropriate, least of all at the start of a critical reception section, hence misplaced. It gives undue emphasis to that one quote, the emphasis which is entirely yours, which makes it a rather non-neutral edit. Aside from that, I don't recall any article where we emphasize a quote from a game review like that, so the edit is actually somewhat unheard of. If you feel strongly about that quote being in the article, you can always add it the regular way.--Atlan (talk) 20:21, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
OK, I see your point. I think that your solution is a sound one, and was thinking of suggesting that myself. I will just add it to the regular body of that section. Thanks! TempDog (talk) 22:02, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Onefinalstep

Do you really think the block was appropriate? All I am saying is that I should have been informed of the pending situation before the 72 hour block came down from some guy I have never talked to.Onefinalstep (talk) 08:47, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I think the block was within the bounds of acceptable administrator discretion. You have to take into account that WP:BLP is taken very seriously here on Wikipedia, and can and should result in decisive action on the part of administrators. If this were a regular content dispute, I might think the block was hasty, but in this case it was fine. I suggest you just get past it and move on.--Atlan (talk) 09:05, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:56, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Nope, not what I was going for. Too early, not enough coffee... TFOWR 11:37, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Heh, I already had my coffee, so no problem. ;)--Atlan (talk) 11:53, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Birthdate Edits

here is the link for the clara luper page: paregien.net/Articles/Luper-Clara/Luper-Clara.htm

the vittorio mussolini is from a book i read recently. it says he was born on the 27th of september 1916. if you want to change it back to the 21st it's not really a big deal. all the other birthdates please don't change back, they are all correct. by changing them you're putting the wrong birthdate in. like i said i'm new to wikipedia so i hope i'm doing stuff right. by the way, how do i add a reference so i could do it myself from now on?? get back to me, thanks...

Greeting, Atlan. I'm looking to expand the article on the sauropod Atsinganosaurus, and I thought a good way to start would be to incorporate text from its equivalent on the Dutch Wikipedia. However, I don't speak Dutch, and the translations on the translator websites I've tried are still often uninterpretable. Could you please translate the Dutch article's text? Thanks in advance! Wilhelmina Will (talk) 18:09, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Sure, I'll take a look when I have time, probably after the World Cup football.--Atlan (talk) 14:48, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Really? I have always thought that IPs, along with all other users, have the right to remove posts from their talk pages only when archiving, not permanently. So you're saying this is wrong, that users can take posts away from their talk pages without archiving? If yes, this is really new to me, though I have been in Wikipedia for some time already... DARTH SIDIOUS 2 (Contact) 08:49, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Yes, okay. Thank you for informing me. I hadn't really ever read that page well. DARTH SIDIOUS 2 (Contact) 11:38, 17 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello there Atlan !! And i know you are not the boogey-man. :-) I´am also a Reviewer on PT wikipedia, but i´am a "begginer" (if i could say that) in put image in Eng Wikipedia. Ok, i will check a new image for the soundtrack. About the image, i think it have some relevance, because it´s a different cover of the game... Anyway, if you can help me with rhis, please do it. All the best. Light WarriorConspiracy?!? 17:40, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

With our policy on non-free content, it's best to err on the side of caution, as the cavalier aproach can get Wikipedia in legal trouble. Next time when you upload an image to Wikipedia, consider very carefully if it qualifies the criteria at WP:FU. As for the soundtrack image, it's my personal opinion that it's redundant, but I think it qualifies as fair use. If you really want it on the article, you can add it. If someone else comes along and removes it, it's always best to discuss it on the talk page.--Atlan (talk) 17:46, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

In the article, God of War II and God of War III, someone did the same...Now let´s compare the Resident Evil 4... In the total, the article have 5 images in the total, including the soundtrack image (informative in that case)...That´s why i didn´t saw any problem with the image... And i will follow the WP:FU... Why not have that article nominated for protection so that it isn't made anymore, and it stays as a redirect? Let's keep an eye on it. —DuncanWhat I Do / What I Say 21:09, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Well, it's been redirected without problems since July 2008. If people start edit warring over it, I'll consider page protection but it doesn't seem necessary right now.--Atlan (talk) 21:14, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
