October 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Arsenal Technical High School, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 18:29, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Response to Teapotgeorge[edit]

Dear Teapotgeorge,

I am sorry about your concern regarding a conflict of interest on my part related to my edits on the Arsenal Technical High School page. I am only trying to flesh out this page similarly to other high schools and to provide information regarding Tech that other editors, especially those who are not alumni, either have not included in the page or do not know. Hopefully, I have been providing this information from a neutral point of view and will continue to do so in the future. Please communicate with me and/or modify what I have written or will write, when you see that it is not from a neutral point of view. Thank you.

Sincerely,

ArsenalTechKB (talk) 12:02, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:ATHS Guard House.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ATHS Guard House.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 22:05, 15 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Draft article I have been working on[edit]

First of all I would like to thank you for your tireless contributions to the page Arsenal Technical High School. I have been working on a draft of this article, which includes much more information and places to develop. I invite you to look at and edit it at User:Jherbertz/Arsenal Technical High School draft. Although the overall goal here is to integrate some of this information into the current article, please be cautious as to avoid too much information and straying away from sources. I will continue working on both articles to increase the quality of Arsenal Technical High School. Thank you, and I hope to continue working with you in the future. April 2015[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Drmies (talk) 14:42, 10 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I absolutely did not know that there were Conflict of Interest restrictions upon a page with which one was associated and was asked by the school's Alumni Assoc. to update the page fixing dead links, adding Notable Alumni, etc. As a result, I added the notable alumni as was asked by the Alumni Assoc. When I saw that the noted alumni that I had added had been removed by Drmies, I simply reversed Drmies' removal, thus fulfilling the association's request again.

Decline reason:

Closing this as there is another unblock request below. PhilKnight (talk) 21:59, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

It appears to me that preventing me from editing anything in Wikipedia is a severe penalty for not knowing the Conflict of Interest rules.

What edits are you planning to make if unblocked? PhilKnight (talk) 15:40, 16 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

PhilKnight, at this time I have no idea what information I might wish to add to Wikipedia in the future. Even if my editing privileges were unblocked, I am extremely scared about making any edits at all and what someone might think about changes that I might make. Having been on Wikipedia since about 2010, this is my first offense after having made useful edits all of those years. Arsenal Technical High School's Principal Lawrence Yarrell was recently fired and it would be nice to edit in the name of the new principal when that person is announced.
Please include a decline or accept reason.
