I don't understand what I am doing wrong, I am sourcing my findings and all are factual.

No, you're not sourcing anything, you are a vandal. Stop or you will be blocked Anna Lincoln 10:46, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi Flannelbean, the only source you have posted so far is Onision.net which does not relate to the material at all. Thanks, Stickee (talk) 10:48, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

I don't undestand what I am doing wrong either. Kate Pierson did describe herself as a late in life lesbian. It's not offensive. What is wrong with it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.17.15.170 (talk) 10:57, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Lol, hi Courcelles, Anna Lincoln 08:55, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Hi, Anna. How have things been going for you lately? Courcelles (talk) 08:59, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Well. At work in mornings, reading or listening to music in afternoons. I'm having vacancies in August. Anna Lincoln 09:02, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Vacancies? Oh, that wonderful Spanish tradition of taking some time off in the Summer. (In English, 'holiday' and 'vacation' are more common terms. Vacancy usually means there are rooms available in the hotel). Now if I could get something to eat before 20:00 in Madrid, it'd be a great place ;) Are you going to travel anywhere interesting? Courcelles (talk) 09:16, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I meant vacation, I confused the term, both words are very similar, lol :-P We usually have the main meal at about 15:00 and dinner about 21:00. I dunno yet were I'll be going, I'd love to go to the beach. Anna Lincoln 09:21, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
It takes me about three days in Spain before I'm adjusted to the eating schedule. 6-hour time change, doesn't bother me, but not being able to eat an evening meal for two hours later than normal throws me off. The beautiful thing about Spain is that you're never far from a nice beach, even in Madrid. (So I've heard. You won't catch me on a beach unless there's a boat involved.) As long as you have good travelling companions, though, it doesn't matter if you go to Singapore or Siberia. Courcelles (talk) 09:28, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
I think the meal times' reason is the heat at midday, traditionally. It's too hot to work so people stop working and eat. Probably I'll be going with some relatives. Anna Lincoln 09:34, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

And are you like some kind of E.W that has nothing else to do?

I enjoy removing vandalism from Wikipedia very much. Anna Lincoln 07:44, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Who Are You?

I recently edited the Jenny Lewis article. There is some discussion on her background. The background section of the article is very, very limited. As a consequence, there was some discussion on her ethnicity/religious background. I modified the article to indicate that she is Jewish and in the discussion article posted a link to a NY Times article. All this is sound so I find it very insulting that you felt the need to modify this. I would like an explanation beyond "it is not constructive." In fact, it is very constructive. I'm going to revert it back, and I recommend that you re-read Wikipedia guide on how to edit and contribute. Also, if you think that you are "protecting" Jewish people, you don't need to. We are proud of who we are and don't need to hide our identity...at least not at the moment. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.35.225.222 (talk) 18:23, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

As I spotted your edit where you wrote "She is Jewish", I believed it was vandalism. Now I realise it wasn't. Please accept my apologies. Please understand that there is a heavy load of vandalism on Wikipedia and some times a rightful edit is mistaken as vandalism. Regards, Anna Lincoln 07:47, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

This is not vandalism. I added two references and i can add 100 more. Please get informed before insulting others ,you just show your ignorance and incompetence. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.9.71.52 (talk) 08:04, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Fester mower (talk) 09:49, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

It is a vampire film, but saying this in the first paragraph is a spoiler. Surely we wouldn't write in the first paragraph of "The Sixth Sense" entry "Bruce Willis' character is actually a ghost", would we? Can't we include this information further down the page?

Well, I suggest you to discuss that with User talk:Decltype, the main maintainer of the article. All the best, Anna Lincoln 09:51, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Dear Anna, Thank you for your message. Please note that the piece of information I have been trying to add is absolutely relevant to the content of the page - it is neither a personal web site nor it serves advertising promotion. The organisation I am referring to helped our university tremendously and I thought it might be good for other people to know about it - Wikipedia is a place where information is shared. I am sorry we do not share the same views. Regards, Prof. Susannah Rothchild-Platt BA, MA, PhD, FSA

You wrote: Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in this edit to Event management. Anna Lincoln 08:43, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello. Citing a concrete company as an example of a broad concept such as event management is considered "spam" or advertising. There are a lot of other companies working on that area and there is no special reason to cite one over the others. Please read WP:LINKSPAM for more information about this. If you contact any other long-term editor, I'd bet they'll stand by me. Regards, Anna Lincoln 08:49, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Armadia16 (talk) 08:51, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

I'd like to ask you a few question.

Is it possible for any user to write a groundbreaking articles?

Second, what if the authentic content of a certain article appears to have been adulterated requiring an immediate alteration otherwise it may create an uproar towards a particular group.

Hello!
  1. Yes, it is possible. Just follow the links at {{welcome}} to learn how to.
  2. If some malicious user inserts false information on an article, his changes can be undone and the previous version can be instaurated easily, because Wikipedia stores all previous versions of articles. This can be done at the "history" tab of the article.
Pleased to meet you, Anna Lincoln 08:54, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Will do

Thanks Anna. Will do. The changes made are just to avoid some wholesale repetition across the "God of War" pages. I'll remember to use the edit summaries. Just trying to get things more professional as opposed to fannish. Many thanks 60.241.188.222 (talk) 09:34, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Hey, thanks a lot for the star. I'm glad to help. Anna Lincoln 09:56, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm glad that you finally became an admin some days ago. Regarding the issue with the dating newcomer, thanks from reverting my talk page three times, I see he got finally blocked by you. I was going to explain him that Wikipedia is not the place to date people, but finally he got indefinitely blocked so no explanation is now needed. Best wishes, Anna Lincoln 10:00, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I think it is safe to assume that the dating requests were not meant seriously, so they were effectively vandalism. Perhaps it would have been enough for me to stand back and let you give a polite "no thanks" rather than block him, and see if he stopped. If there were no other vandalism involved I might have been willing to let it go. However, there was other vandalism, and I decided this editor was not showing signs of intending to be constructive. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:15, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I think you are right, and that you did the right thing. Anna Lincoln 19:34, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
By the way, I notice that on your user page you say you like sockpuppets. You have to be careful saying things like that on Wikipedia, or you may be misunderstood! JamesBWatson (talk) 14:20, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I now realise the word "sockpuppet" has a very definite meaning on wiki. I'll be changing that. Thanks for the notice. All the best, Anna Lincoln 19:34, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
What a pity. I thought it was quite amusing having it there. Oh well, it's your user page. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:26, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

RE: EU template map

Thank you for your warning, but you seem ignorant not only of the talk page discussion and points made, particularly regarding systemic bias, but you have reverted to a version that - itself - was changed without consensus. Unless a renewed consensus materializes, which I will concede to if apparent, your revert will be rectified. Superluminary (talk) 15:11, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

I don't care what version of the map is displayed as long as it is made with consensus. Your unilateral changes need support from the article editors to be implemented, which clearly you didn't reach. My message warned you about breaking the three-revert rule, which you where going about to break. Anna Lincoln 07:25, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
And my point was that the map was changed earlier without any consensus, which the prior editor who made the change (one of the talk page participants) also didn't garner. ([2]) I had no intention to breach that rule, even through other editors were also editing so. So, perhaps you should direct your attention elsewhere or don't bother. Same question again

I see back in February Shadowjams asked you "Why are you not an admin?" and you answered "I realise that my main contributions are fighting vandalism, and that is not enough to become an admin. Article building, taking part in noticeboards, and such is expected." There is truth in that, but not as much truth as you might think. I became an admin despite scarcely any article writing experience. On the basis of what I've seen of you anti-vandalism work I believe you would make good use of the mop, and if you were ever to consider it I hope you would let me know, so that I could give my support. JamesBWatson (talk) 21:15, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello. I'm very sorry for the huge delay - I was away on holidays (in Cádiz) for the entire August and I forgot to place a {{vacation}} template. I thank you for the confidence deposited in me by supporting me for adminship and suggesting me to go for it. However, I don't believe I will stand for it in the near future, mainly because I believe the aswer you pointed to still holds. Should I change my mind and feel ready for the position, I would let everybody know. Pleased to talk with you again, James. See you, Anna Lincoln 07:53, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

Fraser Urquhart (talk) 13:27, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Anna,

This morning you reverted an edit on The Musician's Guide page.

This page is clearly a spam entry by the author of the book and contains several claims which appear to be wishes rather than facts.

I'm not familiar with Wikipedia rules but I can see that the edit you reverted was a statement of opinion. However, you didn't give a reason for your intervention and it leaves the page unbalanced in favour of the author.

I am keen that Wikipedia should not become a catalogue of self-promoting spam.

How should we proceed?

Fraser

Fraser Urquhart (talk) 13:27, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello, Fraser. You edited the article The musicians guide from the IP User:92.28.52.155 prior to registering as User:Fraser Urquhart. You tried to add the following sentence: "Marcus seems to be well-intentioned but obviously has zero real experience of the music business. But he is very good at self-promotion." This violates our policy on neutrality. Basically it means that all information presented in an article should be written from a neutral point of view, stating objective facts, but not making subjective judgements such as "he is well intentioned" or "he is good at self promotion". That's the reason why I reverted you. Besides that, you can continue editing the article to make it more balanced, but always keeping neutrality in mind. Regards, Anna Lincoln 07:47, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

82.69.8.159 (talk) 09:29, 16 September 2010 (UTC)

Hello again Anna,

(I'm sorry but I can't see how to reply to your reply.)

But I should clarify. I did not make the previous edit. I simply saw the edit in the topic History and commented.

My initial comment was triggered by the fact that you did not give a reason for your reversion.

As I say, I understand why the edit would be reverted. What I sought to discover was how a spam article can be clarified and I'm still no clearer, although I will think about what you have said.

Thanks,

Fraser.

Ok, it was not you but you commented, no problem.
When some edit blatantly violates policy, it is normally reverted with no reason given as to why, mainly because the edit summary is automatically filled in by the software in these cases.

555eddie (talk) 22:32, 6 November 2010 (UTC)Someone Keeps Changing Our page

I know you are trying to block our changes. However, we are the creators of SpaceTime software and we created the original post.

Someone keeps changing our original entry and adding a negative slant to it. This is really not fair.

For example, SpaceTime is both trademarked and patented and each time we add this to the entry, someone changes it.

SpaceTime is the trademark name of our software and someone keeps referring to it as SpaceTime3D, Inc. This is not fair as we legally have the name SpaceTime and our entry should reflect this.

In addition, there have been hundreds of articles written about us and the person who keeps changing our entry adds a section under reception where they quote the worst most malicious comment ever written about our product.

Some is out to desecrate our name and by you blocking us you are not giving us the chance to protect our name and product as we created.

Thank you.

I can respect this, however 1. You were changing it, removing quite a lot of content, using your IP which looks a lot like vandalism 2. After creating an account, you made the same edits without any edit summary, hence making it look like you are trying to get away from the warnings. I will apologise for reverting your edits however please take on board that using the edit summary is a good idea :) -- Methecooldude (talk) 22:36, 6 November 2010 (UTC)

Information.svg Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Mazarrón. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. Do you even look at the links on there??? CamposolWeb is a community site without any advertising (unlike Viva Murcia), it is a non profit website (unlike Viva Murcia) it is purely for information about the Mazarron area only (unlike Viva Murcia) - do you want me to go on???????? Also another one on Murcia is selling a house????? Obviously I missed where I should send the secret payments to for wikipedia cos it seems someone is on the take somewhere.

PS Anna we were not using multiple accounts as my friend was having his deleted he thought it might be cos of the username so he asked me to try - 2 people 2 different accounts. So investigate and ask before suspecting me of anything. Maybe you are suspected of taking backhanders to include sites that profit from people clicking on the links heres???? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Smudge249 (talkcontribs) 12:33, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

The link you inserted points to a website about Urbanization Camposol Golf. There are many urbanizations in Mazarrón and there is no reason to highlight this one over the others. What you did is called spamming because it gives an undue weight to your website. You compare this to the link to VivaMurcia - well, maybe that link should be removed too, this should be considered. Anna- It is quit tough to improve the page, always an error will pop up!? The editorial board are extremely well-known worldwide and it is not nice to receive such errors continually. Besides, regarding one of the error, this journal is a breakthrough in its type, it is Ideal Academic Journal: Great editors, fast, and Free for every body (libraries, readers and even Authours), so this a combination of all advantages of journals, that’s why such a great editors as well as National Funding of Netherlands are supporting that. IFTOM and ASME are negotiating to support the initiative. The articles will be published in a few weeks, they are from Harvard, NASA, General Moots, Montreal University, Delft University of Technology, Yale University and so many well known research institutes. So please kindly propose a solution...````

You blanked the article possibly because you want to delete it. Although you are the main contributor of the article, it has been edited by other users and it does not "belong" to you, but to the Wikipedia community. The articled has been tagged as proposed deletion, so let the article be there so that others can object to the deletion. If nobody objects, the article will be deleted. Blackcat84 (talk) 11:25, 10 November 2010 (UTC)About the page titled Salakau

That page shouldn't exist. The reason I'm vandalising it was because the page was glorifying the gang and because of it, they have been getting bolder and committing crimes in broad daylight. You may not know this because you're not from Singapore but I just encountered them on the streets vandalising someone's car and shouting in hokkien "We are Sah Lak Kau (369). We are famous because we have our own wikipedia!". Heck, they even created a Facebook page recruiting kids and I'm trying to get it removed. Blackcat84 (talk) 11:25, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Wikipedia tries to neutrally depict the gang, giving objective information to all its readers. I don't think that having a page on Wikipedia would make a gang commit more crimes. Following your reasoning, all pages about criminals should be removed, and that would be in detriment of the encyclopedia. Anna Lincoln 11:32, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

In that case, I'm gonna send a suggestion to the censorship board of Singapore to have the page or even wikipedia website itself blocked from being accessed in our own country. Sorry but if your not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blackcat84 (talkcontribs) 11:58, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

I don't think that is necessary. I suggest you to discuss the matter at the Reference Desk with other experienced users. Anna Lincoln 12:02, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Hola Ana.

Hello Anna I just added a link to the page on Unamuno Out of the Wings - is a website created by academics for students of Spanish theater. I believe the information is useful for non-Spanish speakers right?. Well, sorry if I made a mistake in adding it

Hello. There is a rule written at WP:ELNO that says that "one should generally avoid" links to "1. Any site that does not provide a unique resource beyond what the article would contain if it became a featured article". This means that, instead of linking to the webpage, one should read the webpage and add all information contained there to the article. The webpage you linked to contains a small data card about the writer, and all that information can be added to the article instead of linking there.
Besides that, you should use English when writing on the English Wikipedia. Regards, Anna Lincoln 10:26, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Carolinda (talk) 10:31, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi Anna

Actually, if you click 'More' in each section of the pages I linked to you get a HUGE amount of academically researched information on each Author. You also get links to plays of theirs, and synopses of each play, as well as sample translations in English about the plays. Apologies for originally writing in Spanish, I was under the impression that you were Spanish. I'm a Dr. of Spanish Theatre, and just wanted students to have somewhere to go for more information on each Author and their plays. It is a useful and more detailed resource than the Wikipedia pages - which are themselves excellent.

I have browsed some links and it seems that all information I found can be covered by Wikipedia articles, if not already covered. Can you point me to some information that is not or cannot be covered by a Wikipedia article? There are Wikipedia articles for most authors and plays, some of which have links to translations.
Spanish is indeed my mother tongue, but I speak English here so that other English-speaking editors can read and understand my comments. Anna Lincoln 10:39, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Carolinda (talk) 10:51, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi Anna

I suppose I was thinking about the translation samples like this http://www.outofthewings.org/db/play/el-otro/sample-translations. But I get what you are saying now. Apologies for las molestiasxx

Well, if you want to provide samples of translations, you could write them on the main article about the play, or otherwise you could add an external link to a complete translation of the work. No worries! Your contributions are welcome. Anna Lincoln 11:48, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
