Article naming[edit]

I think you should desist redirecting Portuguese places names in the future, without some discussion. Mostly because names appearing on "Google Maps" is not a justifiable naming convention. You will not find this as a justification for editing in the 5 Pillars or WP:MOS, for example. Second, there has been an attempt on the Portuguese article-space to create a distinction between the municipality and "city name" articles, you are basically creating more confusion. There are a number of articles where this distinction is active (for example Braga or Bragança), where your edits are going to end-up in conflict. Unless there is a public discussion on your type of editing in the future, I will revert edits that use the "Google Maps" logic as an excuse. I am sorry Andycor, but the fact that Google Maps may utilize content from Wikipedia, is not a justification. There is no logical way to do what you want, without creating conflict with the editors. I refer you to the recent revert by the administrator User:Malcolmxl5 of Figueira da Foz Municipality. Future attempts to make those type of renames will probably be declined, or worse, cause an edit war. Please be clear on the distinction between urban areas (villages, towns and cities) and legal administrative divisions in Portugal (civil parishes and municipalities). ^{ruben jc}ZEORYMER (talk) 22:25, 12 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
