Women and Politics Class

Hello Andrew, My name is Kate. I am currently taking the Women and Politics Class. I am considering editing the following three pages: 1. Debbie Wasserman-Schwartz 2. Intersectionality 3. Democratic National Committee. I am also thinking about going over pages related to gender and issues in politics. Any feedback would be helpful. Thank You, Kate Katemolly (talk) 05:29, 23 June 2012 (UTC)

Finished Editing the page you decline, please kindly take a look at it thank you

Message from R Shampa on Michele Bachman

Hi Andrew, I have posted a summary of my article and discussed my plan on how to improve on Michele Bachmann's immigration section on my sandbox page and Michele Bachmann's immigration talk page. Please check and let me know if I have maintained all Wikipedia's protocol. Thanks, Shampa R (talk) 02:20, 30 June 2012 (UTC) Shampa

Hi Andrew, I had some trouble moving my samdbox article to the main page. The difficulty arose with the instruction 'Put the title into the "to new title" input box' - they did not explain what to select from the drop down box. Anyway, I tried various choices see log below:

03:00, 30 June 2012 Shampa R (talk | contribs) moved page User:Shampa R/sandbox to Wikipedia:Shampa R/sandbox (moving sandbox into wikipedia article)

02:59, 30 June 2012 Shampa R (talk | contribs) moved page User:Shampa R/sandbox to Wikipedia:Michele Bachman Immigration View
02:58, 30 June 2012 Shampa R (talk | contribs) moved page User:Shampa R/sandbox to Michele Bachman Immigration View
02:55, 30 June 2012 Shampa R (talk | contribs) moved page User:Shampa R/sandbox to User:Michele Bachman Immigration View (I'm moving my sandbox article to Wikipedia)

In each case when I tried to see the end result, there was what seemed to be an unresolved link in red as best I can remember.

I moved on to the DYK bit, and that seemed to work.

Thanks,

Women and American Politics

Hi Andrew. I'd like to see if I can help with the Women and American Politics class. I'm also an online ambassador and the topic interests me greatly. I've noticed a few problems and wanted to see where you were at with this. I reverted the changes students made to Mazie Hirono and Debbie Wasserman Schultz for a number of reasons, some of which I've gone into on the talk pages. The proposed edits regarding immigration to the Michele Bachmann article have already been challenged on the talk page and it's doubtful that much more can be included in the article than the paragraph already there without violating WP:UNDUE. Michele Bachman Immigration View is currently redirecting to a user page, but should probably be deleted since I doubt there's enough content to warrant a standalone article. I'm not very optimistic about the other changes to Bachmann's article (regarding her position on contraception) even though the language seems to adhere to an NPOV, but we'll see. Another student is working on a page for Shelley Adler, wife of John Adler, who may not meet notability guidelines and will likely be nominated for deletion. The edits to Mary Bono Mack look fine so far.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out. Also, did you have any input on the topics that the class picked from or was that mostly at the discretion of the professor? Thanks, Gobōnobo + c 04:48, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Gobonobo, Thanks for your response.

Yes, it was my intention to just add to the immigration section on the Michele Bachman article and not to create a separate article about her immigration views.

Here is what I did per the Week 5 directions in the “Timeline” section of the Wikipedia:United States Education Program/Courses/WomenAndAmericanPolitics page:

1. Because I was improving an existing article, as directed I wrote a summary version on the article's talk page reflecting my improved article content, along with a brief description of my plans. This went fine.

2. I followed the directions in the Sandbox tutorial Video resource to create my sandbox article. This too was fine.

3. Next I tried to follow the directions in the handout Moving into main space to get my sandbox article into Wikipedia main page – here is where I had the difficulty and (I guess) inadvertently created the no-content page you referred to. You probably saw the details in the note I sent to my Online Ambassador, Andrew N.

4. I wrote a hook and submitted it to Did You Know according to the handout Submitting articles to Did You Know. This was fine too.

I felt that the directions were hard to follow regarding moving from sandbox to main space (item 3 above). I would appreciate your guidance in getting it fixed. I just checked that the “edit” option has been removed from the Michele Bachmann article page so even if I wanted to I could not add anything to the article at this point.

The next week, according to the “timeline” of our class I have to submit my article for “good article status”. Do I need the “edit” for that? In that case could you please help me with that as well?

Thanks for all your help.

Hi, Andrew,

I can only assume that this article was declined due to my failure to establish notability, rather than due to the subject's inherent notability. The person in question, via his thirty-year editorial guidance of one of America's foremost literary publications, introduced a large international readership to some now historical literary figures. And in terms of his own poetry, we can certainly see him aesthetically in conversation with the forefront of American poets, poetry, and poetics, thus remaining an essential figure in American arts and letters.

I'm interested to know the reasons you've declined this article, so that my revision efforts may be more efficient. Thank you so much for your time, and for your help in determining the course of human knowledge and understanding.

Please check new reviewer on submission you previously declined

Hi Andrew

I'm a new reviewer, looking at this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/UAW_Local_5810
which you declined on non-notability over a month ago.
The contributor seems to have tried to respond positively, enough so that he/she has somewhat of a point. I also looked at the UAW article. Could this be made a sub-page of that? I would appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance

Rush job I've not had time to document yet, and still a WIP. It's in use on one of the class pages. I'll link to it when I have more time, which probably won't be until next week (moving). AndrewN talk 03:58, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Inline Citations and References

Hi AndrewN, Thank you for you suggestions. I've made many changes since you last looked over the "Patrick O. O'Meara" article. I hope that the inline citations and new references are more along the lines of what you are looking for. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Patrick_O._O%27Meara Could you let me know if I'm on the right track? Thank you! Carrot70Carrot70 (talk) 20:51, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Argentine Tango

Hi, I wrote to you but did not receive an answer. I added proposed text in Argentine Tango article talk page but there is no discussion. Could you add this information back to the text. I do not want to do it myself bacause of perceived edit wars. Pcirrus2 (talk) 14:07, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
