Welcome to WP, and especially to Wikipedia:WikiProject Assam. I hope you find your experiences here rewarding.
Nevertheless, since you have stated your goals upfront I would suggest you have a look at Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style before you perform edits. This might save you the frustration of other people reverting your changes. Since you have said you would like to use modifiers, be aware that peacock terms will immediately be edited out, if someone is vigilant enough. I would also ask you to read a few Wikipedia:Featured_articles to get a hang of where we would like the articles to go.
One area where Assam related articles lack is in images. Since you are in Assam, you could help us in adding pictures to the articles. For example, the article Maidam has no picture. There are images of Maidams that can be picked out from the internet but they cannot be used due to licensing issues. So, be aware of Wikipedia:Uploading_images.
