Notability of Dr. Michael Newton

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Dr. Michael Newton, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Dr. Michael Newton seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Dr. Michael Newton, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Grape nutrients

Alex -- thanks for the tip on the nutrition table, but it's "as clear as mud" how to edit that! The table format you offer does not include the essential mineral, manganese which for grapes is exceptional in content. See http://whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrientprofile&dbid=55 showing 0.66 mg or 660 microg in 100 g or about 33% of the DRI -- the most outstanding nutrient content of all in grapes. If you can change it, thanks! --Paul144 (talk) 14:44, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

It wouldn't take an edit anywhere in the table comments, Alex. I left a hidden note there. Might be better to create our own table -- I did the ones on the superfruit page. Then we could fill in other data from the http://whfoods.com site or another source as needed.--Paul144 (talk) 03:56, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Looks good, Alex. Thanks for the detective work! --Paul144 (talk) 02:20, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Alex -- see my comment in the Talk page. I selected the USDA analysis: Grapes, american type (slip skin), raw. You must have chosen the European grape data, which I see shows Mn at 0.071. I think there might be an error of 10 in these data between "American" and "European", and tend to believe the higher value. --Paul144 (talk) 05:04, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Alex -- I don't think there'd be a 10-fold difference in a mineral concentration between a ripe and a raw grape. As minerals are not metabolized or involved in synthesized chemical structures in the raw state, how would they change so much going from "ripe" to "raw"?

I think there's an error somewhere. Since blueberries and cranberries also have high similar Mn content, and WH Foods says the Mn content in grapes in 33% DV, I tend to believe the USDA data are off. Also, check the other selection from the USDA picklist for raw American grapes -- all the nutrient data are about the same except for Mn. Doesn't make sense to me. --Paul144 (talk) 03:30, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Destinyofsouls.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Destinyofsouls.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:09, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Flags

Sorry, flags aren't allowed in infoboxes (and various other places). See WP:FLAGBIO. Ty 00:24, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

I went to your user page and clicked on "user contributions" (bottom box on left of the page). I did a right click on each relevant article listed and opened in a new tab. Then I just went through the tabs in turn, and where there was a flag, I clicked "edit", deleted the template, pasted the edit summary from my clipboard and saved the article. If you like tools, check out Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser which is a common one for repetitive edits. Another tip - if you go to "my preferences" at the top of the page, click "Editing" and then check the box "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary", you'll get a reminder. There are some other useful option available in preferences. Keep up the good work! Ty 23:31, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Any editor can move articles and change redirects. You can move an article to a redirect to replace the redirect. However, if the redirect has had more editing done on it than merely to make it a redirect, then an admin will have to delete it first in order for the move to be accomplished. On the image page, where it says "source" you have filled in "internet". You need to give exact details, i.e. the URL. Also have a look at the ref guide above for formatting refs. An article should have reliable independent secondary sources to validate it, or it may be in danger of deletion. The more references, the better. Ty 23:01, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Norman Bluhm

I'm curious why you removed the image from the infobox? Modernist (talk) 02:39, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually the precedent that we have followed is both - an image of the artist when it is available and usable, and/or a work of art. Some artists pages have images of the artist in text - see Henry Moore, and a sculpture in the infobox; while others have just works of art by choice in the infobox. The Bluhm painting is acceptable in the infobox...You are doing terrific by the way..Modernist (talk) 03:17, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

I've created a thread here: hopefully with others input...[1]Modernist (talk) 03:34, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

It is never preferable to have a pictureless infobox at the top of an artist's article if there is an image of his work available. The use of artist's infoboxes at all is somewhat controversial, not least because the information in them is often inaccurate, over-simplified or misleading. Please also be careful not to create big white gaps when adding infoboxes (which vary with software - for example Leonard Baskin has a huge one for me). Johnbod (talk) 03:50, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
I agree with the above. There are technical reasons not to set image sizes usually, but to leave it as the thumb default, as it over-rides user preferences and forces users with slow connections to wait longer for downloads of bigger images they may not want. Default on thumbs is "right" so there is no need to specify it. For portrait pictures, the term "upright" can be inserted. Also large image sizes can do funny things with different screen resolutions. Baskin at low res, as Johnbod said, had a big white space in the article. Ty 07:02, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Nice work!

Thanks for adding the info box to Charles Sheeler - good idea! H0n0r (talk) 17:36, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, but I can't help. I've been trying to understand Wikipedia image policy for a long time, and I've been told that it is intentionally confusing in order to keep the number of images down. Rick Norwood (talk) 14:38, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Neuropsychophysiology

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Neuropsychophysiology, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Non-notable school of psychology, essentially a coatrack for Michele Trimarchi, a Non-notable person, completely lacking any reliable sources independent of the subject, consists essentially of Spam

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. GA reassessment of Jacob Riis

I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. I have found some concerns with the artcile which you can see at Talk:Jacob Riis/GA1. I have placed the article on hold whilst these are fixed. Thanks. Jezhotwells (talk) 19:41, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Antonis Mor

Just curious. Why did you rearrange the images in the Antonis Mor article? I see that the left-hand image has been moved to the right. I thought a little variety would make the layout more interesting. However I note that there seems to be some references to some browsers having trouble with the original layout. Can you enlighten me? Ron B. Thomson (talk) 02:17, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

  • Thanks. Of course the original layout caused no problem on my browser, so I could not see the need to change things. However, if it must be changed, it should be. Best Ron B. Thomson (talk) 15:41, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeshiva Derech Hatalmud

I've declined the speedy here, because A7 doesn't apply to schools, and a yeshiva is a school. I'm sure that PROD or AFD would be quite appropriate. Nyttend (talk) 04:00, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

No complaints; it's simply that schools cannot be speedied under this criterion. Nyttend (talk) 03:20, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Conflict of interest

Hi Alex, Just wanted to get advice. I got tagged as having a close connection/Conflict of interest with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_McPhillips. I have an interest in my surname, but I'm not related to Colin McPhillips and I never meet the man. Kind of regretting i used my real name here as i wouldnt have had a problem if i used a nickname. I've supplied references, but this dosen't seem good enough. I'd appriciate some feedback so that this dosen't happen again as i don't want to get in trouble. Hope to here from you soon. regards --Sean McPhillips (talk) 23:32, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Thank again Alex I appriciate your help. 19:53, 29 July 2011 (talk) (UTC)

Hiya, can't say I'm particularly attached to this stub I created at random following a redlink, but FYI seems he was notable and have now added refs/links/dedeadended. Cheers In ictu oculi (talk) 10:12, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
