Vieirinha[edit]

Hi there ALEONYMOUS, VASCO from Portugal here,

sorry i did not provide a summary in my edit, the "rollback" (which was the action i took) does not allow for summaries. However, do not call my actions in Vieirinha RUDE or UNACCEPTABLE, what is unacceptable according to WP standards is to write stuff like "superior pace, dazzling dribbling skills", or "outstanding long-range shooting ability and excellent crossing-accuracy", or "His remarkable prowess, along with his long-lasting devotion to his team's beliefs", especially without references OK? Wikipedia requires things to be written in a neutral point of view, not even Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo have stuff in their articles written in such fashion.

Attentively, happy weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 11:05, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Only now noticed, i did not use "rollback" as i thought, sorry for the misinformation. But the rest is valid. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 11:08, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Aleonymous - Wikipedia has to remain biased and neutral, and cannot allow personal opinion in articles. Hope that explains things a bit further. Regards, GiantSnowman 12:02, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Exactly! The only reason i removed that bit was because it was against WP policy, not because you wrote insults or wrote poorly-phrased words, nothing personal against you (what reasons would i have to that?). However, i do sense a tone of mockery towards me as a result of my actions in Vieirinha (in the first message some, now even more): "I don't think that Lionel or Cristiano would call my actions rude..." or "...you don't really give a dime about all these things because being an acclaimed editor is already a hard job..." 1 - why the continuous reference to those two players? It was only an example i chose to illustrate a point; 2 - "being an acclaimed editor"?! That's not how i see myself, i revert stuff and have stuff reverted, and am only here trying to help improve the state of the articles i work in. I have written some stuff similar to your bit in Vieirinha in the past and have had it reverted.

If you decide to reinsert that kind of info or similar in Vieirinha or any other footballer's article, please make sure that the references are reliable, not stuff from blogs or forums. Oh, and (per your last line) you did not troubled me at all (i hope it's not more sarcasm, if it's not i apologize). Attentively, happy weekend - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 16:30, 9 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have reinstated some of your inputs in INTRO: i believe you 100% if you say he plays with both feet, and that is not POV no sir, it's good info, so it's there again! Two more editing tips: 1 - please don't incur in overlinking (i.e. when you write PAOK F.C., the next time, PAOK suffices, without the word being linked); 2 - try not to use sources that are merely stats as refs, they are better as links.

I am Portuguese and have no problem admitting it: Ronaldo is a whiner! However, how come you are annoyed by Messi and/or Barcelona? Cheers, happy Saturday - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 16:04, 10 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • If he scores/gets sent off/suffers severe injury against Tottenham yes, a few lines are in order; if he only shows up to play, no. --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:01, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If any of these mentioned is (one of) your team(s), please reply (if you do want to reply) politely, i presented my ideas without insults - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 09:30, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • I guess i only made my point somewhat...my utter despise is not because they win everything, it's because "managers" like Arsène Wenger, Jorge Jesus, José Mourinho and the "new kid on the block" Vítor Pereira are bordering on racism when they say: "national players? screw them, they can't play ball! Brazilians and Argentines? Yes sir, keep them coming!!" One thing is the reality of the Portuguese market, that can't compete with the powerful football economies, but having (as Porto and Benfica) THREE national players in their rosters?! To give you an idea, PAOK FC has 13 Greek players (it should be more, but it's OK), but THREE?! And Porto CREATES players? If by that you mean "youth system", you are 100% wrong, PORTO despises its youth system, even Arsenal does better (even though many of their youth players are ALSO foreigners), and perhaps even Inter.

From your country (don't know if you're Greek or not, i assume you are but my apologies in case you're not), a "neat" club, Asteras Tripoli FC, what on earth is this, EIGHT Spanish players?! Of course, the manager is also a Spaniard, brough all his buddies to save him from the trouble of learning the language (the Greek youngsters must be seething, and rightfully). Hope they get relegated, this should be forbidden by FIFA! Of course, the trend is unstoppable, with even the national teams getting their "fair share" (have been watching EuroBasket 2011, don't know if there is ONE team without one nationalized player, p-i-t-y-f-u-l).
