Help Needed

I need someone to pronounce اوږد in the Wardak dialect with focus on ʝ] so I can upload it to the dialects page. Also from the Wardak dialect pronouncing any words with ږ ښ. If you speak any other dialect upload any words with ښ ږ څ ځ ژ. If you upload the file on Wikimedia Commons and post it to my talk page specifying ur dialect - I will add it to the dialects page. That is a tertiary source, Wikipedia prefers secondary sources. Looking at that page you linked, it seems they are citing Mosonyi and Largo 2000. You should cite that as well, assuming that it covers the information you added.--Megaman en m (talk) 22:42, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

What the IPA template is for

You seem to have misunderstood what the {{IPA}} template is all about. All that template does is enclose the input in the IPA CSS class, which allows logged-in users to specify a custom font for phonetic representations—see the template documentation on how to do it. (The class also suppresses underlines if there are links in the input and adds some semantic value.)

The templates that link phonetic symbols to relevant articles are {{IPA link}}, {{IPAblink}}, etc. For example, {{IPA link|b}} becomes "b" and {{IPAblink|p|b̥}} becomes "[b̥]". (Notice the latter links to Voiceless bilabial plosive. If you just put {{IPAblink|b̥}}, it links to Voicelessness: "[b̥]".)

Also, I think it's about time you learned how to properly link to other pages on Wikipedia—see Help:Introduction to editing with Wiki Markup/3. I'd also like you to learn how to properly cite sources if you plan to keep on contributing—see Help:Referencing for beginners. Nardog (talk) 21:41, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

For a complete citation, you minimally need to mention author, year, title, publisher (in this case, the university). You can use the {{Cite thesis}}-template, which will put all of it into the correct format. Here's the full parameter list. For this thesis, you should use |last=, |first=, |title=, |date= (just the year), |publisher=, |degree= ("MA thesis"), |url=. –Austronesier (talk) 19:16, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

I'm not talking about any particular edit. Anyone who opens your contributions will find multiple edits with the summary "Source: their wiki pages". You have also cited other articles on Wikipedia as sources on other occasions such as here and here. Such arguments carry no strength on Wikipedia, as (bar few exceptions) only reliable third-party sources are regarded as satisfactory to establish verifiability and notability. Renditions of the phonological charts

The reason that I keep undoing your edits to the various language pages is because they are strictly just unnecessary renditions being done to the phonological charts. Unless you have some actual useful knowledge about the information regarding the languages, then add that and make the edit, but if it is just about how the phonological charts "look", then don't do anything. @AleksiB 1945 It does not matter if those codes don't change anything. They are not useless, they are their for better organization of the charts, so they were put there for a reason. Those other pages with the charts you showed here, are not "messed up", they were made flawlessly. Just leave the charts alone, and stop messing around with them please. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on China. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Dileep

Did you know that there can be two people with the name Dileep? See the film. The Dileep you are thinking of is not in the film. The guy on the left is the hero. Here is his face. This Dileep acted in the Telugu films Repallelo Radha, Jabili and the Kannada film Joke Falls and is not to be confused with the Malayalam actor. Hope you understand. Tamil inscriptions

Just to give you a heads up, the earliest Tamil Brahmi inscription can not predate the Maurya period (its palaeographically not possible), there must be something wrong with the carbon dating or a mixing of archaeological layers (see the criticisms by Harry Falk particularly on the calibration curves).
