Conquering the Ottomans[edit]

Bates' civilization was always advanced technologically, although generally the people were peaceful throughout their early history and into the 1800's. Maintaining isolationist values, they refused to share much of their technological wealth with the rest of the societies and mostly led as silent pioneers of the scientific front. Often, literature describes some of their creations as being inspiration for other civilzations decades past when the technology was first discovered. They used this advantage, at first, solely for financial gain. Quickly they exploited the early discovery of iron and coal, trading these and other luxury resources to amass large monetary sums.
