May 2021[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at T. Rafael Cimino, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. The sources state unequivocally that he is the nephew. If you're going to claim otherwise, you must provide reliable sources.C.Fred (talk) 00:48, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It is not “unequivocally” true. Our challenge is how much evidence we want to publish as we are the actual immediate family. Our sources are both Michael’s and his parent’s personal goods which we have held back publishing online. 69.117.196.27 (talk) 13:38, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Then there are two policies working against you. First is WP:Conflict of interest, which says you should not be directly editing the article of a family member. Second is WP:Reliable sources, which says we go with information published in independent, reliable sources, rather than go with family anecdotes, unpublished information, and primary documents. That said, another editor has challenged the obituary used as a source on the grounds of the publication's non-reliability, so the alleged family connection is currently out of the article. —C.Fred (talk) 18:37, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We are immediate family of Michael Cimino, but not T Rafael Cimino, who is an imposter fraudulently claiming a much closer lineage than he has. While Editing Michael’s could pose conflict of interest, it is also an interest to not have liars pretending to BE us. The family documents include actual certificates, awards and photos, which we have not published out of an original desire for privacy and respect for the deceased, but certainly could be if we supplied to press or biographer. Not mere family anecdotes, we ARE the nieces and nephews, so plenty of primary sources of documentation both for Michael (our uncle) and his parents (our grandparents). 69.117.196.27 (talk) 23:49, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Replying again to say that I appreciation that you are just following the source material, just frustrated how easy it is to skew publications to your favor. While we are frustrated that this person has been claimed for years to be our actual lineage (a cycle of self-validation across IMDb, FB & Wiki), it’s a great relief that it has currently been removed from this page! Really hoping it stays this way.

Wishing you a good weekend. 69.117.196.27 (talk) 00:25, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
