Welcome[edit]

Hi George, and welcome to tropical cyclone article editing. A few years back, they changed the Manual of Style (or MoS) to exclude the wikilinking of dates, which is why I removed them in my last edits to the Hurricane Ida (2009) article. I'm not going to revert your changes, as someone else or some BOT will likely come along and remove the wikilinks themselves. FYI. Thegreatdr (talk) 17:31, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 12george1, I just stumbled at that user, and I am just asking if that is an alternate account? There is a policy against some uses of this, found in WP:SOCK. I am asking if this is a legitimate alternate account which falls under WP:SOCK#LEGIT. If this is so, put a template like what I have in my legitimate alternate account, User:Darren23 Alternate, or redirect it to your userpage. Thank you! 2010 AHS[edit]

There was a disscussion about this the other day on [the 2009 EPAC talk page] and the general upshot is that 2010 WPAC and NIO need to be made before the ATL and the EPAC are even thought about "since they are in season on January 1". Jason Rees (talk) 03:43, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2010 AHS[edit]

I saw that you were working on the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season. I was working on it, and I don't want to put my work to waste, so do you want to collaborate on it? I have added some stuff and here and there, so maybe we can collaborate here. Thank you! Darren23Edits|Mail 00:41, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Image problem[edit]

You uploaded File:Michael peak.jpg but did not provide a copyright tag. I found the source page but I actually doubt this is a freely licenced image. ww2censor (talk) 05:28, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What's this about?RlevseTalk 02:58, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There's a thread on it on the talk page. RlevseTalk 20:07, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nadine[edit]

Hello, For Nadine you still need to put the mph first and km/h in parenthesis next and get rid of knots. One easy converter is Google. Go to Google's website and type in X knots to mph (or km/h).

Extra information for storm articles[edit]

I see that you've been working on several articles over the past few weeks. Although they're currently a bit on the short side, I personally think they're comprehensive enough for the average reader. However, to make them better, I would suggest looking through Google News to get information published at the time of the storm. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Cyclonebiskit (talk) 04:03, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice job on the Hurricane Helene (1988) article[edit]

Hi, I was just looking at the new pages, and think you did a nice job on this new article. Well done! :-) Thanks,CordeliaNaismith (talk) 04:19, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

Hey, nice work on your recent articles. Since most of them are fairly short, I was wondering if you'd be interested in doing a more substantial storm? I was thinking Tropical Storm Arlene (1993) might be good, since the article needs work. What do you think? –Juliancolton | Talk 02:21, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's what we usually do with articles, yeah. I figured it would be good to improve a higher-impact storm, since they're kind of lacking. –Juliancolton | Talk 02:25, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Even better! –Juliancolton | Talk 02:27, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Claudette 91[edit]

hey there! we havent really talked yet, but i like the articles you've been making, like claudette. i'm not sure if you've seen mine - Hurricane How (1951), Hurricane Able (1950). idk, would you want to work on a project or something? peace bro --Viennaiswaiting (talk) 17:32, 1 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

very cool about the named storms. i personally like older storms that do a little more. no offense, but chris and ernesto 00 are a little lacking. also... theres something wrong with ernesto's impact. it seems to be part of an article on emily 99, not ernesto. idk, maybe ask julancolton or someone else about those articles. i know someone mentioned getting rid of some of the newly created articles. you should be careful, if they start deleting yours, i wouldnt want them to start going after mine. peace bud --Viennaiswaiting (talk) 20:29, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stop[edit]

Stop creating pages for images at Commons. Thanks! –Juliancolton | Talk 01:26, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please slow down a bit with the articles. They need a lot of work, including basic grammar work. –Juliancolton | Talk 04:16, 11 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

TD Eight[edit]

Please refrain from publishing your sandbox on Tropical Depression Eight (2009). I have the topic for the 2009 Atlantic hurricane season fully planned out and this article is not notable enough for an article. Sorry for the sudden notice about this after you have done work on it. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 05:21, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2009-10 SPAC[edit]

Please note that even though Tomas was named 12 hours before Uali. theo rder they are placed in the article goes by TD number and not Alphabetical order.Jason Rees (talk) 16:21, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ill take another look later but the references still need correcting. As you have some of the publishers as authors.Jason Rees (talk) 17:11, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Hurricane Karl (1980)[edit]

Updated DYK query On April 4, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Hurricane Karl (1980), which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Hello, 12george1. I'm Airplaneman. Please don't pipe links in disambiguation pages, as you did with the above page. See MOS:DAB for more info. Thanks, Airplaneman 00:32, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I strongly urge you to take a minute to consider the above. For now, I've restored the revision without piped links. Regards, Airplaneman 00:39, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, piping is OK for the instance in where the section link shows. Otherwise, it's advisable to not pipe. Thanks, Airplaneman 00:42, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Tanya and other stuff[edit]

Hey, I'm actually really busy this week in real life, so I probably wouldn't be able to get to it for a while. At a quick glance, it could use more non National Hurricane Center links. Also, a lot of the references are redundant. Try seeing how much you can cite to the preliminary report. As it is now, it looks like there are more references (different sources) than there actually are.

Also, I was glad to see you working on Tanya a bit. No offense, but most of the articles you have been making are rather unneeded. Very few people look at the minimal storms of the 80's and 90's (along the lines of 1 view per day), while even a marginally more important storm (like a landfalling hurricane) gets at least 30 views per day. There's a reason there was never an article on Tropical Storm Isaac (1988) or Tropical Depression Two (1994) - it's not really needed and nobody asked for it. Is there any chance you could work more on existing articles for storms that impacted land more?

Your writing has gotten a lot better since you started, really! It is great to have you interested in the project, since there aren't many writers anymore. It would benefit the project, and Wikipedia, so much more if you worked on articles that were a little more important, that's all I'm saying.

Hope all is well. ♬♩ Hurricanehink (talk) 14:43, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Hurricane Tanya (1995)[edit]

The article Hurricane Tanya (1995) you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Hurricane Tanya (1995) for things which need to be addressed. S Masters (talk) 13:11, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for doing the fixes. The references (dates) still need to be fixed. Please let me know once this has been done. Cheers. -- S Masters (talk) 03:37, 17 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question[edit]

Hey George. Just curious about this... I assume somebody got on your account while you were away from the computer? Juliancolton | Talk 01:55, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your sandboxes in article categories[edit]

Hello, I've noticed that you have created quite a lot of user subpages on hurricane topics. Many of these are showing up in categories reserved for articles, such as Category:Tropical cyclone articles. This issue has been recently discussed as a broader problem Wikipedia_talk:Categorization#User_pages_in_Categories here. Please add a semicolon to the category tags on all of your user pages (like this: [[:Category:Tropical cyclone articles]]) so they won't appear in those categories. Thanks, postdlf (talk) 23:02, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
